Dr. Erickson was an absolute GENIUS and underrated as an pioneer and influence of the many advances in the use of the subconscious mind to improve people’s lives. ❤️

@@portorportor8247 Yes. This is precisely what is called the 'hypnotic trance.'

I always found Language class back then in school to be the best Trance inducer. However, when it came to exams....it was a different/altered state of consciousness all together.

Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi is also interesting and fits well with the insights of the late Milton Hyland Erickson (1901 - 1980)

Benjamin Ash, Brian Blancett - The point is perhaps not that you are missing part of the story... but that you are missing the point of the story.

Mt 10:19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.

Interesting how’s he’s looking down while he speaks, limited eye contact. No wonder he was a genius

How did they get to that trance in the first place to learn the whole book?

Benjamin Ash ....agree with you feel like we are missing part of the "story" being told.

They were put into the hypnotic trance when he did the lecture. Evidently they were still suggestible or in trance when he gave the orders to read the book. Perhaps even given the directive to read the book in a trancelike state, so that when they picked up the book they read it in a trancelike state. That would be my guess.

Exactly my thinking @@patched4winning they read the book and are totally unaware that they read it. Hence they knew the answers.... again totally unaware in their conscious awareness. Simply awesome! What a genius he was!

Oussama Benchekroun Belabbes What I think Milton is describing here is a state that has names such as the zone ( in sports field) or no self ( buddhism) and probably more. People that slip into it, with experience in meditation or without just by training in their specialty like sports or music, say they don't know or remember how they do things that are the best performance that they've done.

It is ok not to believe it..... what exactly do you not believe?

@@GreenwooddPop a trance state is the state you are in when you "know something like the back of your hand." often things done everyday at the same time, in the same way, are done in trance states.. if you've ever driven to work and couldnt remember if you already passed a land mark already, you were likely driving in a trance state.

He may have had brilliance in the mind for changing others but not enough to change his own and eating and living healthy to live a longer life. Just because one person is good a certain parts of the brain it does not mean they are good at their own discipline in what they put in their mouth. That part is sad.
