Uh… yeah I am huge fan of surfing and bhop and all that.. It doesn’t matter when the game drops, it’s not going to be affected by games like CoD and OW2. This type of thing will never be that popular unfortunately. The players who will play MM will play it no matter what, and people who are new and stumble upon it will only play it if they have previous exp in surf / bhop.. stuff like that. It’s just a niche market and it always will be. It will never be mainstream… again, unfortunately.
MM will make it more accessible for people like me who have the patience but not the time for setting up mods, downloading maps etc. I got MM key recently and I gotta say it is the thing I wanted. After I have gotten my daughter to bed I can just launch MM, click on a map on the list and start playing.
With respect to the new RSurf/Rbhop update, there are a lot of maps that have been temporarily removed and are currently being fixed to be made compatible with the new update. But while most people are generally unhappy with the update, you are correct in saying it has removed a lot of the “jank”. Moving forward, maps will feel way smoother, and people will eventually get used to the new physics as broken maps are gradually added back into the game. Good video!
As much as it sucks to want something and be denied, momentum is not yet in a state where you can realistically play as you want to, but the next major update (0.10.0) is going to be that point where you can play the game normally, as that's the big push to get maps into the game. The last few major updates are much smaller in scope and required time, progress will be much faster. In addition, 0.10.0 will have a major key drop at the best time to join playtest. I've had access since the 0.7.0 days, and while the progress on the game has been substantial, far more than you might realize, what the momentum team is trying create really is worth waiting for, the game could have released as several points in its history, but the access the team has gotten and what they are able to do with it is really unlike anything that has been possible before.

im gonna be honest the update to roblox bhop isnt that good (it had led to the removal of a lot of maps and has made plenty more extremely awkward) but its even worse for surf since surfs with multiple parts in them will just take away large amounts of your speed due to the high accuracy of the new physics instead of the less accurate old physics which just let you surf down them normally
The thing that kills momentum mod for me is the removal of +strafe. Momentum mod is still great don't get me wrong, but as a half life 2 speedrunner, it sucks that a core element of the games iconic movement was removed.

I've got a genuinely interesting idea for a tournament on momentum when the game is fully out, the thought of it makes me so excited and I really hope that whenever it does drop I have enough connection to really pull it all off, one way or the other I will be contributing to the game and people, that I do know.
