My Fire department recovered its original 1928 Maxim Fire truck from a rotting shed that was overgrown and forgotten for decades in the woods at the end of an airport runway. In 1988 we restored it, I was the chairman of the 5 man restoration team and it took us until 1993 to complete it. We were so proud of it that we paraded it one Memorial day. While in the parade of hundreds of parade watchers, a call came over for a Brush fire in the nearby state park. Our Fire truck was the only vehicle capable of getting out of the parade and responding to this fire, which was extinguished in short time. The parade and the first time use of this Fire vehicle in over 50 years with the department made the Newspapers. The Fire trucks motor, gear whine, gear change sound and perspective height and hood & fender view from behind the wheel was exactly like that which we're seeing in this video of this Rolls Royce Limo.

What an amazing story! Sounds like something you would read about in the old Reader's Digest.
You guys should be very proud; thanks for sharing.

    We have a 1928 P1 limousine by Windovers ( don't forget the ' S ' ! ), owned 57 years in the same family , bought for £190 in 1965 .Looks a very familiar outlook and sound ! .

Thanks for your remembrances, & I did “forget” the s, which I’ll correct.
