    I don't know the exact technique she uses, something between what's called "false chords" and "fry vocals," but basically if you do it correctly along with having proper mic settings/volume, it doesn't put nearly as much strain on your vocal chords as it sounds.
    At least, that's how I've had it explained to me.

  • @andersstromqvist2211
    @andersstromqvist2211 3 роки тому +1

    she wont ruin her vocal chords, becus she is not using them. if you tried to emulate that sound with your vocal chords then yes you would ruin them. she is using here false chords a part of the throat above the vocal chords to make those sounds. its a technice that can be learnd but tatiana is a pure master of this

    I have been using this scream for 20 years. It is a false chord scream and when done right it will never damage your voice or make you hoarse. If done incorrectly, it can cause lots of damage and create polyps and other problems.

    You might want to look at the lyrics. While she enunciates very well, it's hard to understand unless your ear is used to it.
    I'm glad to see you are willing to listen to more of a band that you find difficult.
    "Bad Water" is entirely clean vocals. I would suggest the official live version - I think the visuals in the original official video distract from the music.

    Kudos for giving it another go. I'd suggest Perennial live in Wacken which is a bit lighter. But even though Tati is my queen, I'd suggest maybe before going back to Jinjer try some songs with female growlers that are a bit lighter. Spiritbox's "Blessed Be", Infected Rain's "Ophan Soul" and Ad Infinitum's "Marching On Versailles." Actually, probably in the opposite order because that's in descending order of growling intensity. Spiritbox's one-take performance of Rule Of Nines is great too, but closer to this in overall growling intensity.

    nice... i think ten hours straight listening to slaughter to prevail and you will like growls and screams a lot more.:)
    i can't imagine listening to music without any screaming and growling at all. it's about catalyzing my own emotions and absorbing the feelings you get from the music - if i'm pissed off as fuck i need some real brutal, uncompromising stuff, then i'm crowdkilling my whole livingroom and after releasing some emotions i'm feeling way better and can go on with other things. same goes with other emotions - if i'm feeling sad i need some stuff that weighs tons with utter hopeless screams and the feel of not being able to take it. something that pulls my inner demons to the surface and makes me fighting them. after i cried me a river it feels like my soul is cleansed. using specific types of (heavy) music for specific moods and feelings...
    jinjer is allday-stuff, their music doesn't want anything bad, it's listenable in the morning for breakfast or for hanging out with friends. it's not as heavy or brutal as it can get in this genres of heavy music...
    just my 2-cents: perhaps try to sync with the mood and feeling of the music, try to get in touch with it, find some parts in you that feel addressed to it - instead of just consume it like pop music that has a simple message or being sprinkled by easy listening stuff. pop music or commercial really succesful music is either written in major (in german 'dur') for a happy feeling or in minor (in german 'moll') for a sad and melancholic feeling - that's more or less all about how mainstream music is build. but it doesn't serve the millions of facettes in between or outside of those two feelings.! i think this is the main problem that most mainstream listeners have with this kind of music. aside the often screaming vocals they can't cope with it because it's not that simple 'happy' or 'sad', you need to get in touch with it otherwise it's just a musical overkill. but therefore you have to deal with it...
    don't get me wrong, i'm not saying that you are exactly one of those.! you try a lot to get a feel for music with an unfamiliar 'flow' and you can appreciate the vocal talents in general - but talking (sometimes a lot) over the song you are reacting to is for example a good sign for it. what i really like and appreciate about you is that you make no secret of it if you dislike something.! that's just how it is and it's honest.! i miss this quite often when it comes to reaction channels. and i like your accent a lot.! as a german being more used to british and american english it's funny to listen to you speaking.!*
    again, i'm not complaining at all - just want to give you a constructive idea how you can deal with the whole variety heavy music shows. become an even more insane blondie.!:)*
    btw, if you do jinjer reactions there's no way to miss spiritbox.!! i highly recommend blessed be, bleach bath, rule of nines and for a real shocking frozen face expression it should be holy roller. their vocalist, courtney laplante, has also done a few one-take-vocal-performances that should not be missed - highly impressive. she uses a lot more vocal screaming technics than jinjer's tatiana. courtney's clean voice is just amazing and deeply touching - don't miss it.!
    love & peace from germany.!*

    If you do the growling correct you're not using your vocal cords which is why it's possible to switch between regular singing and growling without the normal tone getting distorted.
    And since you're not using the vocal cords you also won't damage them or your throat and not lose your voice.
    If you have the wrong technique you can damage your cords permanently.
    Edit: also an honest reaction is the best, you either like it or you don't and if you don't then that's ok, at least you've given it a shot.

    She uses her false chords and diaphragm for her growls. Using those techniques helps her voice and vocal chords last

  • @FalconFlurry
    @FalconFlurry 3 роки тому +1

    Here's the thing about growls: it's easy to do, anybody can do it once, however it's really really difficult to do it properly. If you just try and do it on your own without training you will destroy your voice in a matter of seconds. If you do it properly you can do it for a lifetime without it harming your voice or even making you feel hoarse after, but to get to that level requires proper training and years and years of practice. I think Tatiana said she started doing this when she was 17, so at the time this video came out she had probably 15 years of practice under her belt.

    Actually, I'm quite impressed.
    She's using her voice to create interesting effects.
    I'm sure lots of "death metal" bands use the same techniques.
    She's obviously voice trained, to protect her vocal chords.
    It's easy to damage your vocals if you don't know what your doing...
    It's a genre. And I'm amazed at how she can switch between styles like that. Definitely very talented person, IMO.

    Hi Georgia, Even if I don't like the song I would never give a dislike. I like your reactions too much whatever is playing. This song - you probably guessed, I don't like. It's just not my kind of music. There is a group called Katatonia who did an album called "Night Is The New Day" - There is Growling on it but not alot + the music is melodic & the lead vocals are wonderful. The tracks are not that full on heavy so a little Growling is fine within a song. This is just too much noise with little melody. Not for me....I like my music - to have music in it. Lol Take care, as always be safe. Byee X Jim

    Normally I really like your reactions, but the truth in this I was stressed and unable to enjoy.
    1) You talk too much over the song; If you are going to speak, please pause, say what you think, and then go back for 5s or 10s and hit play.
    2) Leave what you think is most relevant for the end when the video ends, have a few minutes with us.
    3) Pay attention to the lyrics and the music or look for the lyrics for the song so that you have an option in other monitor or phone and you can listen the gutural parts that you are not used to understand.
    4) I did not have the opportunity for listen the song, I only hear noise bettween the video and yourself talking. You lost the artistic part, you don't talk about the combination of reggae roots, rock and metal.
    For me this is not a reaction, is you putting a song that have a lot of reactions in UA-cam, talking about what you think about the band and you didn't listen at all.
    This is my opinion, and my recommendations for improvement. a hug from a distance, greetings from Costa Rica.
