Look at you go girl! You did an amazing job! I'm a 'tad' older than you and female, but I've always been interested in doing these kinds of transformations. My mind is as young as you are, but my body would laugh me off the face of the earth if I tried to attempt something like this. I really enjoyed your humor throughout the video. I'm so happy that women are doing more and more home repair and remodeling. Keep up the excellent work!!

I just replaced my whole upstairs with engineered hardwood, and I learned a couple of super awesome tricks for removing the tack strip and the staples. For the tack strip, use a full size spade garden shovel...you get the pointed tip underneath the tack strip and push down on the handle and voila! You don't even have to bend over to remove it!! To get rid of staples they have a long tool called a floor scraper, and just pushing that along the floor gets the staples out, but you have to go back and forth kinda hard but it worked amazingly too, without bending over!

Next time you install, I would recommend putting quiet walk as an underlayment before the lvp. The likelihood of seams breaking is higher. I know it says it's not needed but it makes a huge difference. More level, less noise, warmer, etc.

I have laid a lot of laminate floor and can offer some suggestions.
Since you are laying with a staggered joint, you can use this to your advantage and when you have an awkward cut like your closet door wrapping around, you could have put a joint in the middle and makes like a lot easier.
Secondly if you have a board that you cannot lift to get the tongue to slide in, you can take the lip off the tongue that locks the board in place and it will slide in effortlessly and to hold the board in place use some wood glue, You don't want to do this too much, but on a few boards here and there it is fine. Before the click floor was invented, every board had to be glued and they did just fine

I'm in the middle of a multi-year project of reflooring my entire house. At the advice of 'friends' we bought all the flooring we would need for the entire project. So now I have stacks of flooring boxes all over the house. I took a break from putting the new vinyl planks on the kitchen floor to watch UA-cam and stumbled on this video. Encouraging and good at reminding me of things I've forgotten in the weeks since I did the last section. My 'subfloor' is the original 100 year old hardwood. After multiple remodels and years of life, it isn't level at any point. Tonight my best friend is my gallon of pre-mixed patch-n-level. I patch a section and then either quit for the night, or go do something else for a few hours, then come back and floor that section. I really enjoyed your bedroom makeover.

    • @diytiff
      @diytiff  Місяць тому +1

Hi I’m glad you’re enjoying the bedrooms series. I completely understand these multi year projects lol. The largest flooring section I did in this house was the living room and kitchen because it is all one big room. It took several weekends. Apart from that I’ve changed the rest of the floors every few years as I make my way to each room. The downside of that is that floors get discontinued all the time but if you have all the floors already you are good to go :) Good luck with your projects

it's midnight here Just got back from friend's evening goth wedding and capping the night watching this. First thing I wanna say, thank you for sharing what was in the closet. I love seeing other peoples cosplay costumes and their props and sharing the memories attached to them. I will say that it's very rare to see carpet in places these days but I never seen one that was a milk chocolate color so I found this old carpet very unique. and thanks Tiff I am looking into those gel knee pads now because some of my projects sometimes lead me to getting on the floor and my knees are already bad so this is going on my grab list. I love the floors! I look forward to the final reveal! Also Got a surprise. I got inspired to write lyrics to another song! Dedicated to Toni's love for reading after seeing the new Lowes adventure... lyrics below enjoy :)
    Tittle: Reading at Lowes Tonight
    Heading to Lowes ,
our second home, Gals a wood worker,
    we're gonna be a while!
Getting in the Car, wait one moment!
    gotta grab a book,
Cause I'm Reading at Lowe' Tonight!
I read in the corner, I read standing up ,
If I'm lucky I 'll read on the wagon!
Hours go by, My Gal's still shopping,
    gotta pass the time
So I'm Reading at Lowes Tonight!
Lounging in a fake living room
Nose deep in a good chapter.
Gal taps me and says let's go.
Head back home but not for long
    Gal forgot the paint thinner,
So I'm back to reading at Lowes tonight!

I’ve been going down the stairs, through the house, and into the garage to make every cut on a miter saw. I didn’t even know vinyl floor cutters were a thing! Going to make this job so much easier. Thanks!
Something that I’ve been doing before installing the flooring: I use a hammer drill and some wood screws to secure the subfloor to the joists to fix squeaks in the floor. It might help with the lifted seems too. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I did most of a single-wide trailer with this kind of flooring. I found the easiest way to cut the tiles to length was just a score and snap method. That template idea I will definitely be using in the future on my studio floor. It would have saved me a ton of time in the bedrooms of the single-wide I did.

I need to paint my new garage door today and this is the inspiration I needed. Also, great trick for cutting the carpet to remove it! I'm going to use this when I remove the vinyl sheet flooring from my kitchen. I'm wondering if it would have been easier to do the "hard side" of the room first? And just my personal opinion - shoe moulding looks far better than quarter round.
