You know what I fundamentally like about this game, though? From its pacing, to its graphics, to its music, and especially Gustafa's music, it's chill. And our society has no sense of chill left. The great philosopher, Alan Watts, has a mid-length lecture here on UA-cam called "No Hurry," and he enumerates all the excuses we give for hurry, but says, "Speed is only of real advantage to you if you are the only one who has it, but the moment everyone else catches up to you, we are all again doing the same things at the same speeds, only much faster and much more nervously." I think games like this are meant to reverse that ethos. Go for a nice little hike. Look at the flowers before you pick them. The fish isn't coming to your line quite yet? Well, look at this lovely, slow-moving stream. There's no hurry.
People dont realize that the key to good mental health is right outside your door, i dont watch tv...instead i read, i live next to a mountain so i go sit by a stream...with a good book and a sandwich and i read under a tree. sometimes i fall asleep and wake up to a pretty sunset...best times of my life.
A Wonderful Life and Magical Melody were my favorite Harvest Moon games! It was always so soothing
This was one of my favorites growing up- i even bought the prerelease on the switch the moment i heard it was coming out

Just did a rewatch of your HM64 playthrough, funny timing! There's a HM64 randomizer in the works FYI (has some cool QoL features which are what I'm interested in)
I love this game! But out of all of the HM games, I don't understand why this one didn't have rival marriage. If it did, I feel like it could be more story driven and maybe it wouldn't drag on as much.
