Hi Todd, I have been watching your videos for over a year now and have found them to be extremely helpful. I used to slice all my drives but with your help I fixed that, now my drives average around 200yds. and are in the fairway. I am inconsistent with my irons which is my next challenge. Can't wait for the season to start here in southern Wisconsin. thanks Bill Rudolph
BRILLIANT, so "Simple", yet such a Great Tip! I watched this video numerous times before I had a chance to practice it and take it to the course today. During my warm-up bucket this morning I practiced it. It feels a little different, yet it works! Used it on every driver & wood tee shot. Every one on them had a slight draw when desired (except one - I had a brain cramp and forgot on a dog-leg left with a 5 wood and it leaked right and rolled into a pond! I will not forget again!) Brilliant tip. THANKS! from Tampa, FL
Thanks Todd from Kent, an experienced golfer from Littleton CO!! I have actually made significant improvements thanks to your tips especially with the driver!
Hey Todd I just watched your video on senior setup to swing the driver and when I tried it I was surprised on how comfortable that setup was for me! It made it easier to take the club back and keep the weight on the inside of my right foot instead of rolling to the outside of that foot which had caused me a lot of problems transferring my weight to the left side! Thanks so much!

Appreciate those kind words. Here is a great video on the VLS golf swing that is at the heart of what we do ua-cam.com/video/4obK1N-N9qY/v-deo.htmlsi=OHAKWXiqzZrj4BqM
Hi Todd, Bob from Texas. Now that I’m retired & play every week, I’ve used your videos to take 10 strokes off my score. What I like best is when you explain common mistakes & fixes. By watching them when I hit a bad shot I now know what I did wrong so I can fix it. Thanks 6:06
Hi Todd, New Orleans, Louisiana here down in “The Big Easy”. Your marketing and videos are working. I have watched several videos by you and others and when they agree, for “experienced” golfers I go with it. I still have some flexibility and was hitting the ball really good, especially for playing less than a year. Then over 2 sessions I just lost my swing. Struggling to get it back, I went to a super short backswing, then decided, let’s check out this VLS system when you had it on sale. I bought “The Bad Lie” and read it in a couple days, the bought the VLS course. My game is coming back, but I know I need more practice to get it where I want. I look forward to playing a respectable game when I retire in a few years. Thanks!
Wow, this made our day! Thank you for the kind words and sharing your story. This is why VLS Golf is here, to help share what we have learned with our fellow golfers. More to come...
I’m from Oldham near Manchester England. Funnily Ifound this out quite by accident. I was on the driving range and I was struggling with the alignment of my driver. I found that raising the hands higher I started hitting my driver better. Felt a bit strange at first but I’m sticking with it. 👍🏻
Thank you Todd for all your lessons what a great help to me, 84 and still playing 18. Holes on my walking only golf course in Marshfield Massachusetts. Hanks much
Bernard, good for you! Awesome to see you still playing and looking to improve. This is good if you enjoy learning ua-cam.com/video/mqufejiasdE/v-deo.html
Todd - the VLS has totally changed my game - everything isn't perfect yet (it's still golf, right?), but the improvement and ease on my back is wonderful. Am eagerly awaiting my MaxVert Driver - even though I'm worried about the loss of distance I fear it will give me. (Don't mind losing a little distance for more consistency; just don't want to see a big drop-off!) Anyway, thanks for all that you do for us -- it's making a difference up here in Bellingham, WA.
Chris, great to hear we are making progress in the game and eliminating some of your pain...this is KEY. The MaxVert driver has received rave reviews in our demo sessions...excited to see what you think. Appreciate your support of VLS Golf!
Great video Todd! I have struggled with a flat swing for years. A lot of the problem was I was rolling my wrist at the start of the take away which causes your wrist to move out and away from your body and closer to the ball. Impossible to recover from. I have been working with a alignment stick on the ball starting line behind the ball. My goal is to have the club follow the stick straight back on top of the stick for 4 or 5 feet. You might think that the club is traveling straight back but that is a an optical illusion. Another helpful swing through has been trying to have the club shaft point towards my stomach at club parallel to the ground instead of at the target.
Charles, simple is always the best! Have you read our book, The Bad Lie? It covers the entire Vertical Line Swing System. Here is the amazon link if you are interested www.badliegolfbook.com/
I gather the more upright shaft angle together with the vertical / more upright line swing helps to naturally set a flat wrist angle at the top of the backswing which promotes the high draw powerful shot. Great video and tip.
If this is the ultimate cure for my driver / wood slice, I will let you know tomorrow, after I go into my new sim to do some work. Oddly enough, I'm now hooking my wedges and short irons, but slicing my long irons and woods. This may be the cure. Hope so. Regardless, thank you Tood Kolb for all of the great tips to help us play better golf. God bless, and press on!
Ok as promised…. Tried it out today. Making the shaft more vertical, automatically creating a tilt with the right shoulder at a lower level for a perfect shot.. maybe the toe of the club tilts lower for that perfect contact. Thankyou

John from Michigan. I have been golfing on a simulator on Fridays with my summer crew. I have been working on my slice but still not getting any more distance. My drives are between 185 and 200 to 220.
Todd: Great video. I was always taught to let the arms hang down so that the club is less upright. Having the shaft more upright makes sense and I see how it promotes a more upright swing, something that I have been working on, particularly for irons. Will this set up work for irons too. The other day, I had a terrible front nine. 53! Then shot 38 on the back nine. What did I do? I raised my hands at address just slightly. One thing to remember: The lead shoulder can be down at address, but not on the back swing. Your lead shoulder should be angled down toward the ball. Then as your weight shifts to the lead side, the trailing shoulder should go down and under. Bend at the waist and rotate.
Thinking seriously of buying the Max vert driver. Not sure what shaft to order. I play 4 months out of the year in Sarasota and 6 months in Naperville IL
Happy to help Steve. A couple questions: do you know your average swing speed? And do you feel like it's a controlled swing at that speed? A lot of times in the fitting process they are looking for that Sunday best speed and distance, but if it's not controllable it's not likely to be replicated consistently. For example, for a golfer who swings at 90-94 mph the Regular or Stiff flex could be a viable option. But if you find more control by backing off and grooving better tempo, we would recommend a Regular over a Stiff because you will hit consistently better shots. You might lose a couple yards on a few of your Sunday best shots, but it's better than losing a sleeve of balls to crooked shots. Plus you will have better overall distance if you play from the fairway more frequently. 🏌 Hope the info helps!
