    Thank you for standing strong in these insane times.

    • @WisGuy4
      @WisGuy4 Місяць тому

      The only thing insane in these times is how successful extremist politicians and their propaganda machine, the NRA, have been in whipping up paranoia and hysteria among gun owners. Your constitutional rights are not under attack, the gun lobby is simply trying to make you paranoid about that. The ammo shortage is one of the industry tools in trying to convince lower and middle-class Americans to vote against their economic interests. The real aim of the NRA and the political party it supports is not too preserve your rights, it is to ensure that there are enough politicians in control to pass tax cuts, and deregulation to benefit the GOP‘s real constituents and their real agenda, supporting the ultra rich and their corporations. They can only do this by duping you, the average American, into thinking there is a crisis at hand that only they can prevent.
      Have any of you ever met with old money GOP people and heard them talk about politics? I have. They laugh at all of the “dumb gun nuts” who are so paranoid about nothing and think you are all rubes.
      I’ll give you proof of the fact that you are being lied to by the NRA. One of their fundamental concepts is that “if you give an inch they’ll take a mile.“ Hand-in-hand with this philosophy is the idea that there can be no restrictions at all on Second Amendment rights. This is a complete lie and a fallacy. As you know, you do not have an unrestricted Second Amendment right to all military grade weapons. In fact, it is very common for constitutional rights to be limited.
      For example, First Amendment rights can be restricted in many ways, such as, preventing military personnel from discussing military secrets with foreign agents; placing bomb threat calls; yelling fire in a crowded theater to see if anyone gets crushed running to escape; calling someone a convicted felon when they are not a convicted criminal; shouting bigoted language in the workplace. First Amendment rights of association can also be limited, such as prohibitions on sex offenders being around children or schools or prohibiting parole felons from associating with any other convicted felons In fact, the right to vote or the right to own guns can be stripped of an individual who has been convicted of a felony. Your right to religion does not allow you to incorporate physical abuse or human sacrifice into your ceremonies.
      Very few people, an inconsequential number, actually want to see most gun ownership rights stripped from Americans. The overwhelming majority of Americans simply want some common sense, reasonable restrictions on who can own guns and on whether they have military capacity, i.e. high capacity magazines, that enable homicides and mass shootings. What most Americans want is the firearms equivalent of having speed limits and drunk driving laws, which do not eliminate and cannot eliminate auto accident deaths, but greatly reduce them.
      A final point I will leave you with is that the more extreme you are in clamoring for unlimited gun rights, the more you will resemble the sort of “gun nut” that scares the average American who is not a shooting enthusiast.
      Shooting enthusiast can and should be a voice of reason in the center, not just blind, screaming fanatics at the extreme. Taking a reasonable approach will not result in the continuous and further erosion of of your rights, it will simply result in the passage of moderate restrictions on gun ownership that do not impede the rights of any responsible gun owner in anyway and will save lives.

    Excellent tips for the newbies, you especially nailed it on the first two very important items on your list! And like you, we’ve seen some people, who think themselves as “experts”, (who think they know so much more about guns )are usually the ones breaking those same rules inside a gun range!🤦🏻‍♀️

    Good info! I'm not a newbie but not a seasoned but own several guns and go to the range as much as I can but never a bad thing to reinforce things the racking/charging of a firearm issue with the muzzle pointed to the side happens but good to get into the habit of NOT doing that and what you have explained..we all have done it once or twice but good to cement that into your head to NOT do it

    1 - always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction

      Gun(s) should be in a secure case. If you have a problem, put the gun down, facing downrange, and tell the Range Safety Officer, RSO, what kind of issue you are having. Hope this helps.

    The thing that bothers me is when you are at the range you are all decked out in your PPE so to speak. Yet, in a real life situation, you're not gonna have your goggles and protective ear muffs on. A real life situation is gonna be spontaneous and you won't see it coming and so won't be prepared for all the sensory issues from firing a gun in a self defense situation. But I guess that's what back yards are for, real life target practice. I'm a lifelong renter unfortunately and wouldn't know anything about that. Too bad gun ranges don't let people practice in the raw, without all the cushioning, just so we can get training and preparation for how it really feels.

Walther PDP or PDP SF, Springfield Echelon, Canik Mette SF and my buddy said to get a Glock 17. Any suggestion? I do realize that the feel is probably the most important part but without that.
