Bah…I own one. Fantastic car. Four years and zero problems and the drive quality is enormously enjoyable. Thought about selling your car because of the seat bolsters? Give me a break. And I’m calling bs on the rattles…I don’t have a single rattle in mine. Seems like a video made to illicit responses, (damn it…I fell for it!)
Can you tell me ur experience with the maintenance and if you found the price to be outrageous like some people complain about online? Im looking into purchasing
I'm in search of one right now. Close to buying it. I think it really depends on the car, itself. Many are problem free and some seem to just have issues. Not unlike any other vehicle, true, but it seems to very individually
8.you can set up which mirror will fold up in setting mate, when you press folding manually in car it override your setting 7. you need update to PCM 5 it will sorted out, your multimedia system can retrofit with recent version 6. you have specified 18 way seats when you ordered the car , you can specify 14 way which are less bulky or 8 ways which are flat 5. i agree back seat are small as this is small suv you should go for cayenne is you are going to use back seats often 4. your car is very old macan gen 1 (8years old) retro fit with new PCM 3. your car doors been opened by previous owners, check its sevice history and take it to official porsche centre 2. you are seating too high mate it is sport car not full suv , you are tall person no need to sit that high
Click bait, those issues are either ignorance of this youtuber or pathetic option to him that could be simply varied by configuration. Oh wait you bought old used Macan. Didn’t even bothered to search those options before buying it. And put a title “ why I hate my Macan “ LOL
rattles are natual for all cars. Its ofen the plastic covering needs reinforcing or tighten swrews. your of average hight, why on earth do you have your seat high, when its meant for a 5tf china girl. She'd have no problem seeing the dial. Also sitting that high puts you in a dangerous position for a crash cause your out of the central point of the cockpit and safety bag. You could very easily be ejected out of the front screen. Seriously consider changing your seating hight. I'm same height and always have my seat as low as it can go. The car feels more sporty and you're more connected to the road, and more importantly i'm in the correct position for the side doors and air bags of the cock pit for maximum safety. I'd feel anxious riding on it instead of in it.
While I like most of your content this one seemed like a bunch of clickbait and drama. I was surprised to see no iCarsoft references in there. Half the problems you mentioned should have been obvious when you surveyed the car before purchase…right?
Mate, just admit you bought a dog and stop whinging on UA-cam trying to make content out of it. It is a 7 year old car, try finding a car that age with a good satnav or media unit you like - just get it upgraded, I had CarPlay put in mine. Again its 7yo so epect a rattle or two, the door cards are easy fixes as a clip holding the door release cable can break over time leaving the cable loose to rattle. The car has sport seats not comfort seats, so you choose the wrong type of seat - I actually love mine. I'm sure the folding wing mirrors can be changed in the settings you just haven't bothered to look. The jerky transmission is common and all to do with the gearbox programming more towards acceleration rather han smoothness - you'd have been aware of this had you test driven one or two. It doesn't like to pull away slow in 1st, either accelerate harder or roll until your into 2nd then pull away. Why not adjust your seat properly rather than complain about it on UA-cam? Why would you want to sit that high? I have mine low and the driving position is perfect. If you wanted space to seat adults in the back you bought the wrong car - 5mins of research would have told you that. You bought one of the cheapest Macans on the market yet expecting new car experience, maybe you should reconsider your expectations
Think he sits high, because it enables him to see thru the windscreen!!. 4:17 in.. "I'm 5'10".......... Yea Right, maybe measuring on a pogo stick he is! 👶
All valid apart from the transmission , pulling away from first slowly , that jerking is early indication that the transfer box is about to fail , Porsche have had to extend warranty on it for 7 years! Get a refund asap! Very expensive to fix out of warranty
I do like your channel but can’t say I agree with this video. I have a 2015 Macan S Diesel with 147,000 kms on the clock. Best car I have ever owned. What a terrific all rounder. Fast, agile, handsome, desirable, agile, cheap to run, reliable a pure joy to drive and own. I would highly recommend owning one.
Have you needed to have the transfer case (TC) oil changed? Our 2016 has had a new TC fitted 2 years ago, and is already displaying the jerky slow movement behaviour especially when cold. Have read that a TC oil change can resolve this behaviour. I hope so!
This is good to know, yeah I don’t believe this will be an issue for all cars. Maybe THIS is the reason the previous owner sold it. It’s still good to be aware of these possible issues if you decide to purchase an used Porsche.
Can I ask if you are still running Diagnostic World ? I was looking for one for my 911 last year, sent email through the contact details on the web site, never got a reply, few lads in our northern car club said the same that they inquired and never heard anything back ?
why have the seat in the highest position if you're 5'10? That's unnecessarily high and the reason why you can't see the instruments clearly. Otherwise some good points!
The guy is not only a complete bullsh****r, he is also an outrageous scammer..I won't place a link, as not allowed on YT, so just google search "Bavarian Dominator @ the Review Centre then feast your eyes on the comments from a selection of his angry customers.
It sounds to me that you could sort 2 of the issues by just putting the seat lower. You’ll be able to see the gauges better and also won’t have as much problems getting out
Jerky progress from stop - symptom of a faulty transmission. It's a known Macan defect and will need a replacement transfer box under warranty. High seat bolsters - you have 18 way seats. the 14 way option or standard have lower bolsters are much better for access. Rattles - I've had Macans for 7 years without these and are much quieter than a 911!
Complete nonsense. Author, your car has been damaged since you bought it - that’s where all the problems come from. Normal Macan do not have such problems. My friend and I have 2015 and 2016 Macan. We don’t have a single problem from your video, with the exception of the lateral support of the seats, but this is not a minus! The seats in the Macan are great!
I want to like the Macan, but I can’t see myself as being an SUV driver full time. Also, as a man, I seem to see nothing but women driving the Macan. Girl car?
First time I’ve ever seen a man drive one ! Seem to be so popular with women which is good as it gets them into the brand rather than something from Land Rover.
Wow. Last year I drove a 2015 Macan S that was a Turo RENTAL car that had over 118,000 miles on it, AND it had at one point been wrecked on the front. It had ZERO rattles in the interior and it drove sooooo smooth. We liked it so much that we just bought a 2018 GTS and it's an absolute dream! I'm 6ft 3 inches and I fit with plenty of room to spare. My 17 year old son is as tall as you, and my wife is 5ft 11 inches. My son fit in the rear seat behind my wife with no complaints at all. The GPS in the rental and our own Macan has been just fine. My wife also just had her gallbladder removed and can barely lean forward without pain and even she doesn't have issues with exiting our Macan with the side bolsters. Sounds like you either bought a lemon, you're trying to convince yourself that you didn't get taken advantage of by poor research on your part, or you're just an absolute whiner. Maybe you'd be better suited in a Chrysler Pacifica.
Bought a '22 S last year with 7600 mi on it. Just turned 10k mi and I still don't know how to use all the bells and whistles. But it's a definite winner!
Sounds like you might have a Transfer box fault on the 4x4 system which is a common problem. It is worse when turning at very slow speeds as you have identified and will only get worse. The first version are weak in their design and a fault occurs, this was identified by Porsche and they created a new version of the Transfer box which fixed the fault. A new one is required to be fitted and a bonus that it is still under warranty. If not then they can and have replaced the box for other Macans as a gesture of goodwill with people paying the labour or a small charge towards to replacement.
My 2014 Cayenne recently had this replaced under warranty as they extended the transfer case to 10 yrs unlimited mileage for that generation and I agree he may be describing the same as I experienced.
Removing all the natural pauses between your sentences, turns your video into an incomprehensible stream of consciousnes. Why would you do that to your audience? Because you think it's cool to do that? Protip: It's not cool. Not cool at all.
I had the same “lurching” issue coming to and from a stop in my 2020 mustang. It was SUPER annoying in traffic. If you take the vehicle to a dealership, they can put the car in its “learning” mode to learn how you drive and this resolved the issue for me. Night/day difference. To fix the problem was free to me because it was still under warranty, but in my research, this shouldn’t cost more than $100 at a dealership, if the car is out of warranty. This unfortunately is indicative of your car being driven quite hard by the previous owner. Another way you can confirm this is if your estimated range on a full tank gradually went up over a few months after you first started driving the car.
Hmm. Strange issues with your car. To me it sounds like you mostly had an unfortunate example. I have a Macan GTS, and I have found none of those issues. At 186cm, I can see the dials clearly at a completely normal seating position. With that said, I'm thinking about selling the car since I just think it's missing the "x-factor". It's hard to explain. It drives absolutely fantastic. It sounds Great, and seems to be ticking all the right boxes. I think I just don't particularly fancy SUV's. I'm looking to get back into a Panamera again....
I've a similar vintage V8 diesel Cayenne, which I adore and which has yet to annoy me. My Mum has a diesel Macan which she has had since new in 2017 and has yet to give her a single issue. You'll solve a few of your issues by updating your PCM, a few more by reading the manual, another couple by not putting your seat in its high-chair setting and the rest by buying a softer, larger, more technically up to date car that better suits your priorities. I've a 991.2 as well and it has been equally trouble free and fantastic to live with.
Thanks for posting the video. Looks like some helpful comments were made to you in order for you to sort out some of your Macan issues. I drive a 95 993 cab with zero of those issues and love it. I like the macan looks but decided to buy a used volvo xc60 for half the price. The volvo isn't near as fun to drive as the macan but is super comfortable and has plenty of room for 6 foot tall guys like me in front and rear seats. Personally in an SUV I want comfort and enough room 1st then handling comes 2nd because I've got my 993 to drive in the twisties. 😀 cheers!
I love my 2016 Macan Turbo, none of those issue you speak of are present in my SUV granted the rear seat leg room might be considered tight for adults but then that is why Porsche made the Cayenne. As for you jerking at slow speeds have you had the transfer case replaced yet (this sounds to me like the smoking gun of your issue)? This is a very common failure on the Macan.
Thanks for the brutal but honest feedback....the reliability is quite poor for this but I hear the mk2 face-lift has rectified most of the issues highlighted.
Porsche cars have one of the Top highest reliability over all for luxury Cars. This video sounds more like nonsense cuz he doesn’t know how to fix/set them up properly in the Software. Many comments have already told him how to fix his issues.
I agree with the rattles and creaky plastics. My 2018 Macan Base felt cheap… I miss the fact of owning my first Porsche, but I was not too happy with the overall quality. My dashboard had a really annoying rattling noise that took the service techs days to figure out! I was happy they fixed it until my dashboard clock fell apart a month later and shortly after one fog light stopped working 😂. The engine and transmission were good to me, but the cabin quality was not okay. I expected more from this brand with this model.
Lovely looking suv too bad about those top two issues they would be a show stopper for me also. Strange though wouldn’t you have noticed most of these during a test drive before purchasing. At least the obscured dash, rattling and getting in and out would be obvious no?
I have a 2018 Macan and I brought mines used at 28k miles and it has no rattle noise or issues to complain about so this might just be a preference issue
I've found rattles much worse if high pressure tires, even just a few psi. In Summer tire pressure can increase by itself! Perhaps car is "telling" you this information?
I can’t believe the fanboys in the comment section. Do you guys realize this vehicle has a VW/Audi chassis, engine, and trans(DSG NOT true PDK on Cayman and 911)? It is not a 911 just pretends to be one. I had a 2017 S for 3 years. It was boring, mundane, and overrated. Good riddance and loving my new Lexus RC-F. The Macan is not as good as people claim it is. Tons of problems on mine and horrible service at the dealership. Stop sipping the Porsche kool aid and try another car brand or a real 911.
I guess while we're complaining, all of these types of videos need to start out with, "This is a Porsche Macan " so everyone knows the year and engine you're talking about for the next 10 minutes. Almost nobody does this and it's really frustrating. Ya, we can see the headlights and the radio and eventually the rear end after a few minutes, and then we can narrow down the model years it could be, but we should be listening to video, not conducting an investigation to get the right context for the video.
I’ve owned every luxury European car, more than 20 be exact. BMW’s, Audi’s, VW’s, and Mercedes, and most have been good cars. Loved my ‘85 BMW 535, stick, and loved my 2002 BMW 7 series. But, my favorite car is my present 2021 Macan. It’s quiet, fast, solid on the road, extremely comfortable (just drove it out CA and back to FL). Your first mistake, Mate, was buying used. You never buy a used car of any make.
5' 10" and you drive in the highest position? How can you call yourself a car guy? I drive all of my cars in their lowest position and it has nothing to do with my height. Aside from the obvious reasons to drive at the lowest position, ingress/egress and cluster visibility complaints just enforce that your doing it wrong.
The problem is that the chassis and the suspension is sporty for a corssover suv and if you have 21 inch wheels and bad roads the rattels will come sooner, it is normal for a new model a lot of plastic but porsche is a well built car in my opinion. I have a macan s 2019
The wife picked her 22 model up in December, apart from the high bolsters I think the rest have been sorted. If you fancy a trip to the North West your welcome to come and have a drive, and while your here you could take my 23 Cayenne for a spin too. PM. Me. My pet hate on her Macan is the solid parcel shelf.
Agreed! I bought a brand new 2016 Porsche Macan turbo and countless problems so far from engine oil leak, transfer box replacement, air intake slats jamming shut, two windscreen replacement which is like jelly breaking so easily and countless other recalls with only 27 k on the clock. Navigation is a night mare so out of date over all….shame on you Porsche!
I appreciate your videos but there are some points that should have been obvious when you were checking out the vehicle. One being the legroom in the rear and the seats. The rest makes total sense and you would expect more from Porsche as to trim and dash pieces not making any noise. I hope you don’t think I am being a jerk. Not my intention. Keep up the great content as i enjoy being a subscriber of your channel. Cheers.
To fold the you just have to long press once. This is a nice car and looking. Its small and tight inside. For a tall driver, its hard to get in and out like he is saying.
Why you drive with your seat to the top? I’m 5’8” and mine is at the bottom. And I don’t have those odd creaks while driving mine. Or the lurch forward when driving. In fact, most of these things are not my experience in my 2018 gts.
I went to a car dealer to test sit a Macan. Is was way to tight driving position, the buttons in the center console was not up to standard, so I skipped it.
I've owned a Macan GTS for over 2 years and have None of these issues. Your satnat and screen look like a mark 1 which was replaced, so my 2016 is much better. I'm 6'2" and I can always see all my gauges, try getting your seating position correct. I've personally owned 5 Porsches and the Macam GTS is the best I've ever had. Sounds like you bought a 🍋, as I have no rattles in my car at all, even with the glass Pano roof.
Stop complaining, we’ve crammed 8 people in this car before. Also, the jerkiness is a big problem, have that checked up. My girlfriend’s Porsche had a similar problem
Good video, and I agree with your analysis of the Cayenne, so many similar issues with my 955. Having said that, it was one of the best cars I ever had for fun factor. Funnily enough, my quietest vehicle on the road is our new '02 986 Boxster! I think I am getting old 😁
But as you state it is under warranty , so they can fix it re rattles ? Is this car from a main dealer ) I doubt it ) and seats are sports seats … an extra !
Getting into and out of a car can be a major deal breaker. I test drove a Lexus RX450h F Sport and I couldn't get into the seat without banging my head on the low door frame or bending my neck over almost 90 degrees. The seat bottom side bolsters obviously didnt help, same as for the macan. My wife had the same problem and she's only 5ft 4!
Im thinking about getting rid of my kia cerato GT for that reason. I broke something in my knee in japan while on vacsation and now getting in and out is agony. Need a taller vehicle.
I actually think your seat is too high. If you lower it down a bit you’ll have better visibility of the dash and you won’t hit your knee on the steering wheel. It might make your drive a bit nicer as well. You’re meant to sit in the car, not on it! 👍
I'm about ready to buy one. I don't think these issues, that he has are unsurmountable. Even the comments, here, point out many ways to resolve it. I have test-driven about four of them and, again, ready to purchase one. I'm not seeing an idi issues on the ones I've driven.
Bah…I own one. Fantastic car. Four years and zero problems and the drive quality is enormously enjoyable. Thought about selling your car because of the seat bolsters? Give me a break. Ah - a fellow owner who has discovered that the seat height adjustment moves the seat down as well as up. I think that escaped the host of the vid.
Maybe this bloke wants the seat higher to make him look taller
I can guarantee there’s always someone in the reviews that has to mention he’s 6ft 2. Nobody cares that’s a standard height these days.
What did you possibly do to solve his issue? Couldn’t have been lowering seat to a proper height? No way…

This unfortunately is indicative of your car being driven quite hard by the previous owner. Another way you can confirm this is if your estimated range on a full tank gradually went up over a few months after you first started driving the car.
Thank you for an honest review!!!
We went with Q7.
And how has the Q7 held up? You can’t compare an Audi to a Porsche build and quality. Not even close. This reviewer is dishonest.
Great video as usual Alot of really useful points for consideration Still think the car is great and worth overlooking these points
Cayenne is such a better car.
I agree. When I recline my seat all the way back so it’s horizontal, I can’t even see my toes. All I can see is the headliner! Unforgivable!
Pure anti-good clickbait.
Blah, blah, blah…his panties are all ruffle on petty issues
Stop sipping the Porsche kool aid and try another car brand or a real 911.
interesting review ,pick my 17 plate up next week 😁..regarding low speed jerking how did you get on under warranty 🤔...thanks gaz
How about tuning in the FM radio. That will fix that issue..
Aside from the obvious reasons to drive at the lowest position, ingress/egress and cluster visibility complaints just enforce that your doing it wrong.
hope the engine dont start playing up have you checked for leaks ,need to take the under tray off
The problem is that the chassis and the suspension is sporty for a corssover suv and if you have 21 inch wheels and bad roads the rattels will come sooner, it is normal for a new model a lot of plastic but porsche is a well built car in my opinion. I have a macan s 2019
your LEFT mirror is just annoyed, because it knows it's the DRIVER mirror everywhere else
My 981 rattles depending on temperature, it has a black interior, some days it’s fine but others it’s terrible
Great video satch. Very enjoyable and if my car gave me those issues id probably sell it.
He has!!!! lol
I was so frustrated w/this nav, I blew off the dust and use a huge 1980 Atlas map instead!!!😂
Hi, is yours with Bose sound system? Is it any good? Thanks
I am buying a 2015, turbo. It has a premium package and the Bose system sounds rather nice. According to Porsche, it has 665 Watts. I enjoy it
Why you drive with your seat to the top? I’m 5’8” and mine is at the bottom. And I don’t have those odd creaks while driving mine. Or the lurch forward when driving. In fact, most of these things are not my experience in my 2018 gts.
I just bought one a sport edition 2018 in black only 15,000 miles on it I love it honestly
Financed it * you didn’t buy anything
@@Thuds593 no I bought it fuxk you talking about
I went to a car dealer to test sit a Macan. Is was way to tight driving position, the buttons in the center console was not up to standard, so I skipped it.
jiggly ride quality at motorway speeds....can anyone explain why??? Is this a setting issue??
Mine 2017 doesn’t do that just feels little slow like turbo lag maybe I’ve always had high power bmw needs tube stage 1 plus
You will solve your seating position and meter cluster visibility problem in one move if you lower your seating position
can't sell it anymore now 😂
cool video! concerning the nav and radio, id get rid of the stock head unit and put a new one that supports android auto
NUMBER ONE THING I HATE ABOUT PORSCHE = OVERPRICED.
I think I am getting old 😁
the jerk in lower gears is an expensive problem, use your warranty fast
The jerk filming, is the bigger problem!!
I have no problems with fiest and second gears, its all about skillz
I can relate... I bought a 2022 Macan and sold it after 8 weeks... Too many disjointed ergonomic issues for me. Bought a 2021 S4 to replace it. 😎🏁
But as you state it is under warranty , so they can fix it re rattles ? Is this car from a main dealer ) I doubt it ) and seats are sports seats … an extra !
Px it for a Skoda if you don't like the best brand there is😊
I have not encountered any of these issues with mine, either I've been lucky or you've been very unlucky
On my 981 when I lock the doors both mirrors fold back, no need to press the button twice.
Never buy a Macan if you have bad hamstrings.
the Porsche is worth buying if you live outside of the united states because of parts being extremely expensive here
Porsche dream customer 😂
Why did you buy the car if it has so many problems.. One way you could sort out your seat and view problems is put the seat lower down..
I actually think your seat is too high. If you lower it down a bit you’ll have better visibility of the dash and you won’t hit your knee on the steering wheel. It might make your drive a bit nicer as well. You’re meant to sit in the car, not on it! 👍
Sporty cars are noisy, that's expected. Also your seat must be in a lowest possible position if you want better feel and handling. Buy a lexus.
#8 sounds like transfer case. 7 year warranty on it.
There are literally the easiest 2 minute fixes for just about every thing in this video..
U just stopped me buying one thankyou 😘
I'm about ready to buy one. I don't think these issues, that he has are unsurmountable. Even the comments, here, point out many ways to resolve it. I have test-driven about four of them and, again, ready to purchase one. I'm not seeing an idi issues on the ones I've driven.
Rattles are unforgivable
Who sits in the Macan on the highest setting? 😅
None of those issues on my macan s…
