Thanks for the video..i just purchased a xl sturdi bag at the flee market for $10 its brand new.i thought it was for a cat.but this is even better because i have a medium size dog its about your dogs size thanks
How tall is he now? He MIGHT be a little big for it, but if he's comfortable getting in it you can train on it now and find a bigger option later if you need to actually fly with him.
I have both the large and extra large Sturdibag and was hoping to fly with my corgi/toy Aussie mix. Mine definitely fits nicely in the extra large, but I’m not sure if the large will work for him anymore (I brought him in that when he was 8 months old fine though). He’s at about 14in at the back and 25lbs. Trying to move across the country and this would be the easiest snd fastest way to get him to our new place. Have you had a problem at the gate with yours not being able to stand up in it?
I've never had an issue with my dogs not being able to stand (none of them can stand in their bags), but it's always a possibility if you get someone at the ticket counter who thinks that's bad. At 25 pounds and a corgi mix I'm guessing he's pretty long at 14" -- I have a hard time picturing him being comfortable in the large Sturdibag. My 13.75-14" Sheltie (14 pounds) likes the large sturdibag and will take a nap in it, but I don't fly her in it if I can avoid it because it's tight for her size. If you think there's a chance you would fly with him again in the future, I would invest in the Celltei bag. It's a really nice option for slightly larger dogs, and will still fit under the seat. That's what I flew my 15.25" 22# Sheltie in. If you really want to try the XL Sturdibag it's risky for sure. It just looks so big, and it is totally going to depend on the person at the counter, which is scary. If you do go that route, I would take out the foam board in the XL and swap it with the Large, so it's easier to fit under the seat. You also need to make sure you're on a plane that will accommodate a larger bag -- I've been on some where it was really difficult to get even the large sturdibag under the seat.
This is such a useful video! Especially as there's not much personal testimony on youtube or online about dogs who are more towards the limit in terms of size. May I ask how much Remedy weighs?
I added 3" zippered extensions at each end, so conceivably she can get 6" inches of length in-flight. I also made the interior light grey instead of dark, because it was originally for my 15" blue merle sheltie and she would "blend" better. I also made it so that both ends fully zip open (the normal design one end is 1/2 zip).
The third bag is a custom version of this bag: www.celltei.com/products/active-backpack-o-pet-large-size.html. I actually just bought a NEW custom one, from them and they've modified the design and I love it even more now. It's the same base model though, just different internal structure.
Remedy is about 16"-17" from her withers to the base of her tail --pretty long for her size. There's more info about the different bags here as well: adventuresanddogs.com/index.php/2021/05/22/so-you-want-to-fly-with-your-dog-choosing-a-bag/
Very helpful review, love that you show her getting into all 3 of them. Never knew about celltei, will definitely consider a custom from them!
Thank you for the size demos!

Remedy weighs about 15 pounds, and stands 13.75" at the withers. She is long, probably around 16-18" from her withers to the base of her tail.

This is so helpful!
How did you customize your backpack-o-pet by Celltei bag?

Hey can you give me the information on where to get the third bag from ??
The third bag is a custom version of this bag: www.celltei.com/products/active-backpack-o-pet-large-size.html. I actually just bought a NEW custom one, from them and they've modified the design and I love it even more now. It's the same base model though, just different internal structure.
