    My favourite leather to work with for structured goods like certain handbags and wallets. It takes everyday scratches beautifully. Fell in love with this leather after my usually seller recommend this leather to me as an upgrade. Now they have the museum buttero. Not yet try that, but I imagine it is just the same.

      Completely agree, it's by far the nicest leather I've worked with so far!

    Hi, I absolutely love your reviews on the type of leather that you do. I’m hoping you could do one about Badalassi’s Waxy leather in the future.

    I just bought a red buttero wallet, which is why I'm here. I'm not sure how long it will take to make and ship, but I am excited to get it. I imagine this stuff probably ages wonderfully.

      My daughter has been using the small coin pouch I made in this video for the pas 6 months now and it's still looking great :)
      I'm very confident this will age wonderfully!

    Nice work, James! You've managed to get Buttero in red :) Nice choice for a wallet or something like that.

      I've made a very nice card holder also with this leather and it turned out gorgeously! This is lovely leather.

    Great vid! Great leather, I use it a lot in wallets. Protecting/coating it is the hardest part and I've tried all manner of things but not wax...and after watching you try wax I'm going to give that a go. Thanks! I'll also say that sewing it with a machine can cause the bottom piece to really look punched out. The firm temper of the leather works against you in this so while you can machine stitch it the stitch holes look better when hand sewn (if anyone has figured out how to machine sew it without the bottom side ugliness please let me know).

      @JamesBerry  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks Mavrik for your message!
      Indeed it's a gorgeous leather and I love working with it. Glad this could help you figure out how to protect it!
      I have no experience with machine stitching as I do everything by hand, but I can imagine, given the stiffness of the leather, that it would indeed break up a bit on the back. Hope someone here can help you with that (or else you could try asking the people on the Leathercraft subreddit).

    Thank you - that was really interesting. I recently bought some beautiful leather for a couple of projects but didn’t do these kind of tests before hand. When it came time (3/4 through project) to gently fold the leather it cracked down the fold! :-( probably my fault but I could have kicked myself. I’ll definitely use these in future. Thanks again.

      @JamesBerry  3 роки тому

      Thanks for your comment Bob. Yes this has happened to me also and was one of the things that prompted me into sharing these tests. I hope this video can help people make a more informed decision when buying their leather (especially as it's expensive and there is such a wide variety of leathers to chose from).

    take a cloth and put in the water and squeezed out the water and apply it to the leather. The water monster will absorb or it will darken smoothly all over the skin. you can do it on natural veg tan leather and see the result.

    What do you think about badalassi carlo minerva? It's like the softer alternative of buttero, for smaller pieces.

    • @JamesBerry
      @JamesBerry  3 роки тому

      Hi Julian, glad you liked the review! Yes I would definitely recommend this leather. It felt great to work with and looks stunning. You'll want to get it thicker than the one I've got though as it's a touch softer and more pliable than my natural vegtan leather.
      Thanks for the recommendation, I've never tried Chromexel!

    Thanks for this video. I'm thinking of either pueblo or buttero leather for my wallet. Dont have both on hand and could only purchase one. Which would you suggest?

      Pueblo wil patina very very fast..like in a matter of days it wil bcome dark. Also pueblo temper is little soft as compared to buttero.

    Bonjour, Ce cuir a l'air magnifique effectivement et sa renommée le précède. En revanche pour nous ceux qui habitent en Europe, acheter du cuir venant d'une tannerie italienne chez un fournisseur américain serait un non-sens absolu. Il existe de bien meilleures alternatives autour de nous.

    • @JamesBerry
      @JamesBerry  6 місяців тому

      Ah oui c'est sur que les prix pour nous sont excessivement chers ! J'avais prévu de tester ce site pour mes futures commandes : buyleatheronline.com
      Ils sont basés en Italie et les prix (surtout de livraison) sont d'office plus attractifs.
      Dommage qu'il n'y ai pas d'importateur en France déjà...
      En espérant que ça t'aide !

      Heheh, j'ai continué à travailler avec depuis le tournage de la vidéo et il est vraiment magnifique, une belle souplesse qui reste tout de même assez rigide, il brûnit du feu de dieu et se tavaille vraiment facilement.

      Yes but it has a finish of it. I would buy it only if I want to keep it natural. Usually you would finish the leather yourself but this is already finished.
