    This is exactly what I have been experimenting with - combining multiple photo references. Besides making better use of my too large collection of photos from places I've been, it's just more inspiration in the one painting and stretches the possibilities without having to entirelydepend on memory and imagination. 😊💛

      @ChrisStephenArt  27 днів тому +1

      Absolutely, you should use whatever it takes to make the painting work

    That’s quite a nice interpretation of a reference photo. That sky! I believe that smaller rear part of a windmill is called a tail. I enjoyed that. Thank you.

      @@sgv323 Thanks Sewall, glad you enjoyed it. Yes, a tail. That makes sense !!

      I meant to ask, in general, do you use natural brushes only, or a combination of natural and synthetic brushes. Just curious. Thanks so much, Chris.

    • @ChrisStephenArt
      @ChrisStephenArt  29 днів тому +1

      @@sgv323 Yes, I use natural hair for watercolour. I tend to use synthetics for oil painting.

    Great timing! I just photographed a windmill in the vinyards and was wondering how to make it more dramatic. Now I can't wait to start it.

      @ChrisStephenArt  28 днів тому

      Hi, Ian. I haven’t, although I’ve seen it done. I wouldn’t want to create something I really liked, only for it then to be coffee, and fade. I find there are far better pigments available.
