Good picks. I have the Alpina Startimer GMT. It is a great watch from a very reputable brand. I get so tired of the UA-cam reviewers and their Aliexpress watches. What's worse are those Seiko review ers who complain about all the imperfections and criticize the company. Then they turn around and buy the watch and recommend it to their subscribers. Seiko will never correct these issues as long as people keep buying regardless. As PT Barnum put it, "There's a sucker born every minute."😂
Haha, very true indeed. I appreciate you watching. Enjoy your Alpina!
@@TopTierTicker, thanks mate 👍
This is why I love the 21st century: a niche channel talking about niche brands in a niche hobby.
Love the Signum Sige, I need following the brand on a budget watch group. They have beautiful dials and great lume. Also love the Bulova featured on this video
Good picks :P I love the chopper dials on the Siege, absolutely beautiful!
I have a Straton Bullhead, as my one unique watch in the collection. They make some really great watches, mecha quartz, screw down crown, etc, along with great customer service. Highly recommend grabbing any from their collection.
I'd never heard of them, that I remember. But looking at their website, they do have some interesting offerings. But on the one featured in the video, the mecha quartz version has text in the spot of the day/date window, which I think throws off the balance a bit. And to get the day/date, you have to opt for the mechanical movement, which pushes the price from $500 to $1200! Too rich for my blood.
@@turk914 yea that’s one of the many models they offer. Most of what they have are mecha quartz and sit in the sub $500 range. The automatics are there for the people that say “gee that would be better if it was automatic.” But I find the quartz to be just fine. Maybe the daily driver is better suited to your liking? They have another company, Signum that sells modern dive style watches, and modern sport style watches.
Got the Bulova, the leather band is one of the most comfortable I've used on ANY watch. For some reason the watch got a lot of hate due to the low water res back then, but now people are desperate to get their hands on one. While the additional inner hour bezel works as a dual time, it's intended purpose is to track time segments for up to 12 hours (hence the history, it was originally designed as a prototype for long aviation missions).
Love when I learn of new watch brands, thank you
Got the Alpina with blue dial and tan leather strap - love it!
Fantastic list! Knew about the Bulova (and, sadly, the Seiko...so much for "thinking outside the box"), but didn't know of the others, so good job here. For me, the Mido, for once, is the standout, proving that sometimes a "boring" design simply has to wait for its moment. Keep up the great content.
The Bulova is probably my favourite on the list actually, I was close to buying one last night. But I agree, finally something interesting from Mido, and it's actually 9 years old 😂
@@TopTierTickerAgreed. That Bulova's a great looking watch at a very fair price.
Nice work, Kieran. An interesting and comprehensive list. Just bought the Bulova from Jomashop. It looks the business. Thanks for the heads up. Best. Mark.
Very nice!!! Enjoy 🙏 love the look of those inner bezels with the crystal
Really interesting list! The Alpina looks great, I like a cushion case. Cheers for another great video 👍
I have the A15 (Bulova)… great watch, and I highly recommend it. The story is it was a prototype that never went into production because they were competing and did not win.. it’s a bit large so I would recommend it if you have a 7 inch wrist and larger
White day date on the Seiko is off putting. Good vid. Always like to see those off the beaten track.
Love my glycine combat 6. I have a green face on a leather strap. I always consider getting the white faced one as well.
What an awesome surprise! Thanks for the feature 🙏
You're very welcome, I appreciate your strive to create unique pieces!
Straton is awesome. they did Bullheads a few years ago aswell.
Whoa! Came for the Bulova, saw the Sanda... which I have! Must say it's a cool watch for the price!
All those watches are fire. Thanks for the good video. Now it’s time hidden gem automatic watches 😊
Dude such a great list! Thank you! Im probably going to get like 4 watches from there!
Mmm lets try NIvada Grenchen especially their aviator, Super Antarctic and Pacman diver, Aquastar, Circula Watches, Delma, echo/neutra, Horage, Lorca, Mappin & Webb, Marnaut, Massena Lab, Vulcain (cricket & diver models) , Milus, especially their Snow Star in 904, Orator, Serica, Speak Marine, Vaer, Weiss, Vertex, Wolbrook, Pequignet, Atowak (spaceship model)
Really enjoyed this!
Great video.
Mido beautiful watches.
Greetings from Madrid.
Thank you sir, greetings from Manchester 🙏
Great picks, personally love the Seiko 😊 Please tell me where I can buy that strap❤
I have the Bulova, it is a cool watch. My only issue with it was the strap it ca,e with. Extremely long.
Great video
Thanks for the visit again Boris 👌
Thanks!
Cheers Steve! Glad you enjoyed it so much. I appreciate the super thanks! Plenty more hidden gem videos coming next year too 🙏🙏🙏
Would love a Straton. They look fantastic. Wonder if they ship to Australia
I'm sure they do! I've got one on the way to me for review, so keep an eye out :)
Hi! Yes I ship to Australia using Fedex and have many customers there 🙏
Ok, so I bought the Bulova on this suggestion. The Atowak looks cheap like Xeric watches do. Interesting engineering but up close you can tell. Alpina is cool as are the Signum and Phobos
Formex and Monta should be every list like this imo.
Great video, my kind of watch collecting! I am always on the lookout for something different. Have you come across Roamer watches, Swiss Dive watch but very nice dials...
I'll take a look at them! Thanks for watching my friend
@@TopTierTickerLove the videos, keep it up
Wanted the Seiko Cement but couldn’t find one to see and try before buying.
It's a great watch, I'm a very proud owner of one
Great video! Thank you!
You are welcome! Thanks for watching
Seiko cement, just couldn’t get one at the time!
Absolutely love mine!
Kieran, Jody did an excellent solar roundup recently. I already have 2 x solar (Oceanus s100 and citizen promaster tough) but want something like a Mako 3 but in solar. Do you know of something? Thanks
I agree with many of your choices. I even own se like the Bulova A-15.
The square Straton watch really catches my eye.
I have two Octopus watches but this one 's color combinations just doesn't have it for me.
I have 3 of these!
Congrats my friend
Great video mate 👍
Thank you sir! Always good to see you in the comments. Glad you enjoyed
That Stratton is a nice shout.
Integrated bracelets are always a big mistake
10/10 video!
Thank you Brian! I hugely appreciate your support 🙏
Great video. Sick of the same old stuff. Well done mate
Glad you enjoyed my friend
That Stratton isahomage to the Huer Silverstone
I mean, I can see a bit of resemblance, but I wouldn't call it a homage
Hi! Thanks but the Speciale is not a Silverstone Homage, our Comp Driver model is more a Silverstone Homage, the Speciale case shape there were multiple small unknown brands who created a similar case shape in the seventies that the Speciale pays homage too 🙏
@@stratonwatchco Fair point, tbh I think its high time the Silverstone was reconsidered as a top Huer design, Im always surprised and impressed when brand owners bother answearing, let alone arguing their point in a sporting manner that is a worthy reflection of the values of the golden days of both watch design and motorsport.
@@jamesblonde2271thank you :) I think the reason why is that I am in this because I have a genuine passion for industry and do not treat this as a pure business. Before starting I loved and still do collect 70’s chronos for me the best era in terms of design when it comes to watchmaking. Heuer has some of the best Chrono designs from the 70’s with the Autavia, the Silverstone and Monaco 🏁 I really appreciate your response and for keeping it respectful, have a great week further 🙏
Some very interesting picks here. Great video. I do like the Straton. Really unique and striking. However, I do find that the mecha quartz version without day/date seems to throw the balance off. The text used in the place of the windows doesn't quite make up for it. But, if you want the day/date, you need to buy the Miyota movement, and that pushes the price from $500 to $1200! I know that mechanical chronographs are expensive, but that's a bit too much for my blood. Also on the lookout for one of those Seiko cements. Intriguing as there might not be anything similar in the future, as the video notes. The Mido doesn't really work for me as it seems too big, and the shape de-emphasizes the integrated bracelet look. Also, I once bought a Mido and the crown completely fell out on the second time I set the time. I suspect Joma sold me a piece that had already been returned, but it still left a bad taste in my mouth for the brand (especially since they blamed me and charged me about $100 for a restocking fee to return it). But really enjoy these "deep dive" videos, and would love to see more!
Hi, thanks for your comment however with regards to the Straton Speciale you have the movement wrong, the AUTOMATIC is not a Miyota movement, Miyota do not make a Automatic Chrono movement, we use a Swiss Valjoux 7750 Automatic and the price of $1199 is more than justified, it’s a quality proven movement, not only the cost of the movement is much more than the quartz movement but the assembly process and the testing process is much more time intensive. The Speciale model is Straton’s most sold model and the automatic alone we have sold over 2000 pieces of them since launching in 2018. Best Regards Kyle
@@stratonwatchco OK, fair enough. I thought he said Miyota in the video, but I may have misheard. And your website only lists the choice as "Automatic" in the pull down menu, with no mention of the name of the movement. (maybe it was mentioned further down the page) Regardless, having a mecha quartz movement with day date would seem a good middle option, rather than a movement that costs significantly more than the price of the watch itself with the mecha quartz with no day/date. Generally, chronographs aren't really my thing. But I do like your design with the day/date. But, not for me at that price. Thanks and good luck.
@@turk914thanks for your response :) in the description if you scroll down on the website it does clearly state it’s a Swiss Valjoux 7750 Automatic movement :) we cannot put all details in the select drop down menu which is weheres you were only looking. With regards to a day/date meca-quartz movement if there was one available I definitely would have used it but there is not and to develop one independently does not make financial sense for a small brand like me. Have a great weekend :) Regards Kyle
@@stratonwatchco there are chronograph mecha quartz movements that do date. Not sure about day/date. Anyway, I wasn't insulting your brand, just making my own observations on what appeals to me personally. Generally, if I'm getting into the four figures, I tend to go with brands I'm more familiar with. Good luck in your endeavors.
@@turk914 yes that’s correct there are, I have used many date only meca-Quartz movements but with the Speciale I decided not to add just the date as I did not like the look of it compared to the day/date of the Automatic so decided to just not have a date at all on that design 🙏
Where you find the seiko srpg63 for cheap?
CreationWatches stocks it for cheap, it's currently out of stock though.
@@TopTierTicker thanks homie.
Seiko's has serious quality issues. Id rather buy a Citizen Watch because it's cheaper but has no quality issues.
Baltany S2049 less than $200 ...Sapphire crystal AR and NH35
Thanks, I'll check it out 🙏
I went to the Sanda tank link and it's now $8.99 and offering another 2% and $10 discount. How do you discount a $9 watch an additional $10? And I know I am unusual but I refuse to give Aliexpress my name, address, and credit card information so I can't buy this.
😂 I think the $10 off only works when you spend a certain amount, $50 for example. But I understand, it all seems a bit dodgy. I tend not to buy off Ali very much myself.
They'll end up paying you to take one if it continues.
Bonkers value.
Kinda feel like they’re missing the prices in this video
I provide some links on the description to some good prices, but I always advise that viewers find the best prices in their region!
And that Glycine is just pure drool fuel as well.
Does anybody know what is the 3rd watch in the bottom row in that watch box at the start of the video? (ua-cam.com/video/OQvGGuP7OCw/v-deo.htmlsi=uoZnRdkyiIdtmqHD&t=20)
Trust in Christ as your Savior and you too will have eternal life! "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)
Bulova: 500 Euros.
Straton: 500 Euros.
Mido: 1400 Euros.
Seriously, why do you think that people that can afford that kind of pricing would watch YOUR videos instead of just going to a proper watchmaker, I'll never know. Seriously.
That's the most ridiculous comment I've ever read.
Literally hundreds of thousands of people watch my videos every single month.
Any yes, I talk about watches that cost more than $500, sometimes even more. And guess what, people actually buy them too!!! Crazy right.
Bulova and mido are literally two of the most respected watch makers in history... How could you even write this comment seriously
DO NOT buy the Signum Siege. Had one, where the hour hand was scraping the dial and picking up the material from it and leaving loop shaped sccraps and blank white spots. Sent it in for a replacment. Got sent another that did the exact same thing. The brand owner Kyle was very rude at the end, saying "Sometimes there are variations in the precious stones". Yeah and sometimes you dial gets chipped from poor design. Clown show over there. Don't buy their pieces. PLEASE
Hi Matt, issues can happen with any brand, it’s how they handled that make the difference, how was yours handled? You got immediate responses, I refunded return shipping, yes as we work with a lot of natural materials certainly at the price we offer them there are never perfect dials, however I never leave a customer in the dark and always help if there are issues. Regards Kyle
@@stratonwatchco I would always expect a dial to not have chunks taken off with hands of the dial. I can see that happening once. But happening on the two watched as soon as they came out of the box is concerning. And I give my warning as I see fit. $500 is a lot of money. I appreciate you refunded the price. It was defective out of the box so you had to refund. If handling is the problem choose a different carrier. I was extremely excited to receive the watch. And just assumed the first was some dirt to clean up. But it was a qc issue that should have been caught. Please. Some humility could go a long way.
@@mattsmiley8156 thanks for your response, as mentioned what’s more important is how the issue was handled as that shows potential customers their money is always safe, you were attended to almost immediately upon making me aware of issue, I gave an appropriate solution and covered all costs. You are the only customer who has ever had to return a Siege, unfortunate yes, and for that I can only apologize, in my opinion your warning is a bit harsh seeing as your needs and concerns were always attended to in a timely manner. Again my apologies and hopefully some day you will to look past it knowing that I always have my customers backs 👍
@@stratonwatchco Well I hope I’m the only one. That is certainly a good track record. I wouldn’t purchase another. Which is a shame, as I love the design and the lume. I hope all else thinks I’m a nut and enjoy their Signum and Stratons! No sarcasm here. Just want everyone to enjoy! Cheers 🍻
@@mattsmiley8156 thanks Matt, all the best and have a great weekend 🙏 Regards Kyle
