    ▬ A NOTE ON USING LED LIGHTS AS HALOGEN BULB REPLACEMENTS ▬
    Aim your headlights AT LEAST once a year and ALWAYS after replacing the bulbs.
    If the cutoff is bad or you can’t aim them accurately or the light output scatters, it is NOT safe to use. Try a different style of LED or one with a lower output that will be more compatible with your light housing. See my other videos for more reviews.
    When I use the word “headlights”, I am referring to legal off-road use or fog light use only as replacing factory halogen bulbs with LEDs for headlights in the US is not currently legal nor a DOT approved practice. This video is only for informational purposes for using LED lights legally. Check your local laws and regulations.

    Hey man i just wanted to say. I love what you’re doing, helping the customers make informed decisions on what they are purchasing. I find it extremely helpful your project vs reflector comparison since every led has a different beam pattern. I also like how you make a direct comparison to the stock bulbs, so it is easier to know what to expect from the lights. I have been buying hikari for about 5 years and only had one bulb flickering and it was the cheapest set, they really do make good quality products.

    I have an update for for you. I installed the Sealight X4 9005 bulbs in my Santa Fe which has a parabolic low beam lens and a reflective high beam lens. The Sealight X4 because of this channel tested the hot spot is far below the top light cut off and puts the light low on the ground. I switched them to the high beam reflective lens and they projected the light very good forward. I recommend these lights only in a reflective light housing for high beam not low beam. I purchased and installed the Hikari 2023 Future Titanova 9005 bulbs in the parabolic low beam lens and they work very good. The hot spot is just below the top light cut off line and illuminate the road perfectly. This channel is very helpful in purchasing the correct LED bulbs for your vehicle. One thing I found different. The adjustment ring for positioning the correct position does not have a set screw to lock. Installing you rotate the ring fully counter clockwise and if you need the light in a different position you rotate the light counter clockwise while still in the socket to the correct position you want. The position of the bulb is held in place by the friction on the ring and bulb. Nice craftsmanship by Hikari.
    Thanks. Steven B.

      @CarLightReviews I'm looking at getting some of these. I am confused as it seems they are no longer labeled as titanova but simply "LED FOG LIGHTS" on the box. It does say titanova 65w LED in the product description though. I have a 2011 crown vic police interceptor. So it says the right one for me is 9007/HB5 and the Amazon fit check says it will fit my car. Is there any difference between what you tested here and the new one with the different labeling? Also I'm not entirely sure what all the different 9 thousand numbers and hb's signify asides from what cars it's compatible with. Are the bulbs the same across all the different 9000 numbers and hb indicators for different cars?

    Thanks for the effort put into the videos. Good job. I believe they are the best bulbs for projectors. However, looking at other reviews they are not the best for reflectors. DDM Tuning Saber ProX 55W Accu/V2 has as much as 3940 lumens in the reflector. Not to mention the latest 65W version of DDM Tuning which has just been launched. Unfortunately, there are no reviews yet for that model from DDM Tuning which is declared at 14,000 lumens. I believe they are even better in the reflectors.

    *This is a very amazing review! **_I remember my father getting the Megatron Hikari lights just before they were apparently banned in California for being too bright?? Although its a shame people don't know they are supposed to reaim headlights to check them after getting brighter bulbs installed. I do want to get these for my 1997 Honda Civic Hatchback!_*

    • @CarLightReviews
      @CarLightReviews  Рік тому

      I don't think they were necessarily banned for being too bright, as I tested them in my other channel using slightly different test methods before I started this one and they were just OK. You can see it here: ua-cam.com/video/zlyMKnQ8nY8/v-deo.html
      In general, replacing factory halogen bulbs with LEDs for headlights in the US is not currently legal for on-road use. But then again, California can be weird about things. 🤣
      And yes, it is very important to aim your headlights at least once a year and every time the bulbs are replaced. Glad you agree!

      @@CarLightReviews I whished we can have 3D charts for the intensity of lights. Not only the peak intensity but how broad it is at certain intensity. Sergiu Gabor did it by gridding the matrix on the wall and each matrix has the intensity of light hitting it. This way, we know exactly the brightness profile of the bulb.

  • @LionRunner
    @LionRunner Рік тому +5

    Wow that seems to be the best for me as Low beams. Low profile fan & driver design + better heat control (since my headlights are sealed with a plastic cover) and most of all better light output after 27min is brilliant. I also wonder if there is a way to test Toyota PWM functionality when testing LED bulbs. When I try few options my self and Xenon Depot LED Pro had perfect DRL mode without flickering vs many high output bulbs was flickering in DRL mode. But Xenon Depot LED Pro could not match the high beam light out put of high power LEDs with fan cooling. A DRL mode testing might be a good test item if there is a PWM device to produce that produce 12v pulse matches car DRLs.

  • @totallyrandomstuffandrevie9609

    I bought a set of these in number 9005 based on this video in your recommendation . I'm using them as high beams in a 2001 Corolla. For the low beams I run Morimoto 2 stroke 3.0 because of the beam pattern and control. Comparing low beams to high beams is like apples to oranges but the super ultra mega titanova Is far brighter! These things are the real deal Eyes of megatron! Do they last a long time? I don't know , But they are brighter than a supernova stuck in a point singularity. On my ultra dark back country road going home from work I actually saw moth's burst into flames in my headlight beam. But seriously, these things are ridiculously bright I would use caution in using them as a low beam.

    Another great video! I'm picking up a "new to me" '06 Lincoln TC and know I cannot live with the OEM halogens. I am considering a complete HID replacement setup, but if I don't go that route and keep the stock reflector headlight assembly, I'm considering these or the GTR Ultra 2. Price is certainly better for the Titanova over the GTRs and performance seems close (a bit brighter but run a bit hotter and the beam pattern not as clean). My biggest concern, however, is longevity/quality vs. GTRs. Thoughts on what might be the better choice?

    3-9 oclock position is not always the case in a reflector housing. Most LEDs are 3-9 o'clock by default. The better designed LEDs have adjustable collars or a twin position fitting depending on the type. Most reflectors work much better with 12-6 o'clock position. The reflectors in my Ford Transit Courier are horrendous in the 3-6 postion. The Novsights i use are great in the 12-6 position. The other 2 LEDS i tried form Auxito and some other crap brand are useless in both positions. Also you should open your garage to see how the beam performs actually on the road. What you see on the garage door will translate totally different when exposed on a flat surface. I find that most LEDs can fire onto a garage door fine but cannot put ANY light on the road when used in a reflector housing.

    Put these in a 2000 Mazda Protege with reflectors..to replace some older Hakari LEDs with horrible light scatter. Now, when aimed on a garage door at like 20 feet, I have two huge "U" shaped patterns of light. I'm beginning to wonder if some reflector housings just are not a good fit for modern LED bulbs like these? These are H4/9003, non adjustable bulbs, and are installed at the 3/9 positions.

    How can LED's be illegal in the US when so many new cars and motorcycles not come standard with them? Is this one of those rules that's not typically enforced? Seems a bit hypocritical that my Kawasaki Z900 came with LED headlights, but I can't but an LED bulb in my Can-Am Spyder.

      1) replacing halogen bulbs with LEDs (or HIDs) in
      2) headlights is
      3) not legal for on-road use
      That's why they are marketed as "forward lighting" or "fog lights" and not "headlights". OEM halogen headlight housings are designed to use a specific bulb with the filament in a specific position with a specific level of light output and have to meet mandated safety standards. Changing those elements also changes the light output level and pattern from what the housing was designed for. This can introduce hazardous situations, especially when people buy light based solely on advertised brightness levels or don't aim their headlights carefully.

    I love your videos about LED car lights. I watched your reviews of the Novsight N60, the Diamond Vision F9 and the Hikari Titanova 2023. Despite the numerical difference in the LUX numbers when I paused all 3 videos on the projector test they all seemed about the same brightness but I noticed that both the F9 and the N60 have more of a dead spot on the 2d set of panels of your garage door than the Titanova. The Titanova illuminates the lower part of the 2d set of panels and the upper part of the 3rd set of panels betterthan either the N60 or the F9. On the road where would the beam be that the Titanova seems to illuminate better? Trying to decide which of the 3 to buy. I know DV says the 79.2 watts it draws won't affect the wiring of the car but I am still a bit leery about that when my OEM halogen H11 are rated at 55w by Lexus (RX350, 2015 model) and the Titanova only draws 59w. What are your thoughts?

      @@austinbidwell9355 I understand your dilemma. I bought the Hikari Titanova because Amazon was having a sale on them back in early April. They were going for $94 so between the N60 and the Titanova price turned out to be a push. But the Titanova has a 2 year warranty but the N60 only has an inexplicable 16 month warranty. After I bought the Titanovas, I learned why the Diamond Vision F9's wattage rating won't be an issue for most car's wiring. The wire gauge determines how much power it can handle but OEM halogens produce vastly more heat than any LED out there, so ratings for OEM halogens take into account that heat. Of the three the F9 produces the most heat while in use but it still is vastly lower than a stock halogen. The F9 also has a 2 year warranty. I would say as long as you find a set that fits your car go with any of the three. I am happy with the Titanovas. A vast improvement over another set of LED's I bought 3 years ago that were underpowered and very disappointing.

The throw is excellent. As I noted above, far better than my other LED's. I have a projector housing and I now feel much safer driving at night, especially when the striping on the roads has decayed. • @CarLightReviews
      @CarLightReviews  Рік тому +7

      I get that suggestion a lot, and it is a fair one but there are a few things to consider...
      The thing about night view footage of testing lights is that it won't likely be accurate for the comparison between my experience and yours.
      My test environment, however basic, is much more consistent than the expectation of comparing MY tarmac, gravel, or asphalt conditions to YOUR tarmac, gravel, asphalt conditions. They wont likely be the same, and that's not even considering ambient light like street lights, moonlight, starlight, fog or moisture in the air which can change everything.
      A video that shows lighting road tests at night using a camera (which cannot easily compare to the human eye or even the basic lux sensor that I use) as '"real world" is quite misleading. It is unfairly assuming that you have the same exact camera and environment conditions that they have, every time you drive. Under certain conditions and camera settings, I can make a keychain flashlight appear as bright as the sun.
      That is why I made this channel and why I am very specific about the using the exact same conditions for my tests...every test, every time, using the exact same equipment settings and environment. That way, you can see actual "real world" data on how each light compares to each other, and compared to halogen. Actual DATA tells the story. Someone's highly variable camera output can't.
      If you are buying on brand name or someones "road tests", you don't have the full story. Again, actual DATA tells the truth...and that's what I bring you! 😄

      @@CarLightReviews I FULLY understand what you're saying and I do agree with you on most of your points here.. So please don't misunderstand me here, I am in no way arguing your points by any means as I do agree with you. Because I do know that there are so many variables that can throw off "real world" tests such as camera settings, refresh rates, and so on and so on.
      But for myself personally I have wasted ALOT of money on headlights that had NUMBERS that looked good an all that. But when I purchased it and put it on my motorcycle it didn't perform the way the numbers said that it would you know..
      So because of that you can have numbers saying that it is let's say for sake of arguement that it has 50,000 lux and 12,000 lumens.. But when it is installed, it can BARELY light up the road 15 feet ahead of you and now you're left with a paperweight..
      So that is why I like to see actual real world tests of the products as well even if as JUST as baseline to see what the potential COULD be.. Because if the product doesn't perform in one setting and you see it do the same in another video you know it isnt exactly what the numbers say it is you know..
      So for me that is why I like to see performance over just the numbers

      I agree, I don't see that it is enforced much, if at all. I would think it depends on where you live and the tolerance that local law enforcement has on the subject. That ignorance makes responsible car owners who want to upgrade their lights look bad...and is a contributor to the reason why the US law is in place.

    Is there anyway I can send you our newest headlight for testing and review? It's the F9 from Diamond Vision LED. 90W per bulb and uses our newest double wide LED chip.
