This is something I’d love to do. I’m currently pursuing toxicology, and criminal justice. I have 3 years left in the Marine Corps and I’ll have my AA and BA by the time I’m done. The only thing that I’ve been told is that as a single mother it would be too hard. I’ll have done 8 years in the Corps by the time I apply so I know what it’s like to be away from my child. Would the DEA be any harder in your opinion than being a military single mom?
Unlike the military, you wont be deploying anywhere. You will have to work some unusual hours, especially at the start of your career. You will also have to be TDY to the academy for however long they have made it (I think now it is up to 5 months). The hours will be the same with any law enforcement position, but at least it isnt shift work. I know some single moms who did it well, so you should be able to do it with some support.
@@federallawenforcementcaree9900 my gpa in undergrad school was a 2.9 and I worked in a jail going in two years, along with 6 years in the nc National Guard. Is that adequate experience and education?
@@federallawenforcementcaree9900 Also i’m not confident in how I did my resume I the day I found out that there was openings for that position was the same day it was closing so my resume is not in federal format for lack of a better word. So my question is what amount of time is needed between each application? This was for 2021-1 if my application is not selected can I reapply for 2021-2?
I recently applied for the DEA Special Agent position, got a follow up asking for the official transcript proving the confirmation of my degree, and I have heard nothing since. That was around a month ago - what’s the timeline like?
They are probably evaluating your application. This takes a lot of time. Months in my case and they dont use software because they are excepted service. The recruiter could give you a general timeline, but you will definitely hear something one way or another.
Hey. I don’t know if you answer back. But I want to ask you about my chance on joining the DEA. I’m 20 years old, and I’m doing a college degree (criminal justice). Do you thing I’m on the right track?
Best series of videos I have seen on these topics In addition to being a Houston Police Officer in the 60’s and 70’s,I worked over a decade as an agent with DEA when it formed in 1973 in the Houston DO. Like the great presenter says about himself, I worked up and out of field work which I loved. This agent knows his stuff about this and the other videos he has presented. This is not BS. Pay attention. I am now 75 and happily retired with I bunch of interesting experiences. Most of them are true😊 Good luck!
I was wondering if you might be able to do a video about the aviation units of a lot of these agencies, mainly DEA, but what that life style is like as a DEA pilot.
Hi could you make a video on intelligence research specialist or diversion investigator within the DEA? I work in medical and looking into DEA. Thank you.
Great video! Do you think the CBP pathway program is worth it after college? I’d like to get experience first before I apply for border protection but I’m also getting a bachelors in sociology and a minor in forensic science.
Don't waste your time or money on a cj degree. Get a degree in something else. Also you do not need military or law enforcement experience but it helps with discipline and the job. Working local law enforcement is much more active. Remember DEA...the A stands for Administration. It's a lot of office work. The locals usually do the arrests for DEA or Task force Officers.
@@jaimedelarosajr8661 No problem! I’m currently working with a USCG recruiter, the process can go fast if you’re proactive. You should start ASAP if that’s the path you want to go down.
I retired from the US Marshals Service and if I had to do it all over again I would have went to DEA.
Why would you rather be DEA over Marshals? What are the pros and cons of each? Which one is more kinetic?
Why?
Why? What was your time like as a Marshal

One time someone told me a joke about DEA standing for Don't Expect Anything.
Was this joke a thing while you were employed there?
It wasnt a joke, it was reality. Actually, the DEA is probably much user friendly than many other agencies.
I was wondering if you might be able to do a video about the aviation units of a lot of these agencies, mainly DEA, but what that life style is like as a DEA pilot.

Hi, I have some questions about the DEA, would I be able to email you?
As a senior in high school, what would be the best path I can take to increase the chances of me becoming a DEA agent?
He’s said in the past that military experience is good, with the Coast Guard ideal for getting started in federal LEO.
