Not to be "that guy" but corpsing is when you are stuck in an uncontrollable cycle of laughter. Like take one causes you to laugh and you laugh every time at the same part each take, or just can't physically stop laughing. A break is when you laugh during a part that isn't scripted to have laughter. As in to "break" character. Cue the "The more you know" star.
This video perfectly shows the difference in humor between these two. Fallon is more generic "ha ha" funny whereas Colbert is just absolutely brilliant. That makes it all the more special when Colbert once in a while slips into slapstick like "Suq Madiq"
It's preference. I enjoy BOTH their humor very much. Does it have to be a contest? If you watch Jimmy's SNL audition you can see he's funny, but the whole wit thing isn't his style. He's still funny, just not in that way
Jimmy does a ton of things that Colbert could not sell well. He's not "generic" funny, he's silly with a lot of charm and a golden retriever personality. That's how he won The Roots over, he's a lovable dorky goofy dude. He's not the "quickwit" funny like Stephen but there are a TON of quickwit comedians already. I think Fallon is the rarer comedian who can do silly and slapstick but also does amazing impressions and musical skits both serious and comedic. His impression of Snoop Dogg was one word and he made his guests and the entire audience laugh hysterically for an entire minute because it was PERFECT comedic timing and delivery. He also never has to resort to "bully" humor, which I really admire.
@@thesilvershining that exactly what I was thinking. I don't really tune into late shows a lot, Craig Ferguson was my go to and I haven't consistently watched since he left, but depending on my mood I prefer one or the other. I could watch Jimmy's musical stuff on UA-cam all day, though lol. He reminds me exactly of my friends golden, always excited and happy even if a bomb were to explode in the front yard.
I agree about John Stewart and Oliver. I really can't get in to Colbert's new show though. When he played a character on the comedy central show, his commentary came off a little funnier but still insightful. Now that he's not playing a character, he comes across as kind of pretentious, condescending, and douchey, in a way Stewart and Oliver never do. Just my opinion though.
adish jain Stephen was implying that he might've been crying when making out with himself. When he said _someone else_, he meant "you mean with someone else"?
It's been like a decade since JF has left SNL and he STILL can't get through a bit without laughing or breaking character. hahahaha What the hell Fallon?!
I used to hate that about him on SNL but now it's kinda part of his charm. Some of his best bits on SNL were when he busted out laughing and couldn't stop. It was hilarious. It's kind of his signature thing now. He literally breaks character every time.
Natalie Walters There's cracking, and there there is breaking down and laughing during a bit. Sometimes its funny. But come on son, you're supposed to be a pro.
So many comments are bagging Fallon because he can't keep a straight face and that's one reason he's my favorite talk show host - he openly enjoys himself on air.
Colbert is gonna be the best talk show host. Fallon still seems like an amateur at interviewing people and making it interesting. Conan and Letterman could make interviewing a librarian seem epic.
I really enjoy watching these late night shows-- Jimmy Fallon, Kimmel, Conan, et al. without having any particular favorites... but now, I do-- Stephen Colbert :) ...I've been watching a few interviews he did on his show, and now I'm a fan :)
yah but letterman was getting really tired. i hope he totally changes it and gets more mainstream and unless political, who really cares about that stuff.
UncleMilo I think the opinion part is the problem. The news and politics was mentioned and joked about but his show has a more political angle and depth that a mass mainstream show should avoid....Why should one care about that stuff? Propaganda and Politics are always ugly stuff and self serving. For the most of us the less we have to think about "poop" the better life is. I can't think of a single leading politician that isn't just fluff. Remember actors, sports figures...etc. just about all non political figures are on late shows a complete change of gears if you can't ask politically charged questions.
Did Stephen really come up with these answers on the spot? Or was this scripted? Because damn, he's killing this with incredible wit and intelligence. This is just so well executed! so delicately, down to the smallest expression, reaction and tiniest detail. Damn.
+Simon Thomas I know I'm late, but I felt like answering the question. Yeah, Colbert is an excellent comedian, and is widely known for his wit and timing. I dunno if it was scripted (I doubt it though, it's not Colbert's style), but that kind of on-the-spot comedy is something Colbert is famous for. Check him out! He had "The Colbert Report" where he played a stupid republican, and currently has "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert." As a side note, if you want to see George W Bush get roasted for, like, 20 minutes straight search: "Colbert white house correspondents dinner." AMAZING.
I'm not sure about the answers but I know stephen has the questions on an autocue, and I can tell jimmy is reading the answers so I assume both are on a prompter somewhere behind them
Hahaha I already watched this video several times quite a while ago and no Wonder why I simply love Stephen Colbert!!! His answers are hilarious and pure wit while Jimmy Fallon's answers were indeed funny, but like silly funny, and he was much less of a good actor that Stephen Colbert. Anyway, I love both of these talk show hosts, and it was amazing to have both my two favourite talk show hosts in one video, but Stephen Colbert remains my number one favourite talk show host ever (With David Letterman as well, who was amazing too)!!! :)
So you give a judgement to defy my judgement. Interesting. OK, may be you are right. I should have said that i like him more than other comedians. A generic statement was a mistake.
Colbert is so witty and hilarious. While I am sad that his Colbert character is off the air forever, I am so glad that he will be taking over the tonight show. I know that he will do a great job. He is without doubt the best late night TV host right now.
Jimmy can't have a guest like Steven on the show. He's ten times funnier than Jimmy and handles himself much better, going to be a bummer to see the Colbert Report end I wonder if he's going to retire the right wing patriot character or bring him to The Late Show
I imagine he'll retire the character, for now. He'll pop up here and there I'm sure. In The Late Show we'll see the real Stephen Colbert, which surely will be a treat. He may even pronounce the T in Colbert
That's kind of a weird ignorant comment. It assumes that the host always has to be the funniest person on the show. Plenty of talk show hosts - including Colbert - will tell you that when comedians come on that's not always the case. Watch Jon Stewart with Chris Rock or Letterman with Robin Williams.
***** Colbert is actually replacing Letterman on the Late Show later this year. Jon Stewart hosts the Daily Show, and while he has confirmed he's leaving that show later this year, so far there is no replacement host slated to take over once Stewart leaves.
Shadow Quote Well, it couldn't be too much worse than our options now. This endless parade of liars and half-wits is enough to make a nitrous oxide junkie weep.
Best poker face of any Talk Show host is Colbert. You can't crack his face...
Unless youre a madiq-coochy family member
Who can forget the trio.
Because in Soviet Russia Colbert's face cracks you!
Because in Soviet Russia Colbert's face cracks you!
***** You referring to Suq Madiq and Munchma Cuchi? hahaha that segment was HILARIOUS.
Fallon's answers were straight up funny to think about, but Colbert's were pure wit.
+nfinitiduck Colbert is a comedy genius. Jimmy Fallon is a funny guy.
+nfinitiduck Colbert has the better writers!
+nfinitiduck That's what Fallon's talent is -- bringing out whatever is funny in his guests.
+mary turula Jimmy Fallon has no talent
+Ranjeet Phatak if you think so, why are you even watching a video clip of his show?
Jimmy: Your underwear: men's or women's?
Stephen: ...no.
Jimmy: *loses it*
I lost it on THAT one!
+karenmohd lost what my dear?
+thegreattheone Why, IT, of course! Lol!
+karenmohd haha you win.. i was hoping this would go somewhere.. you got a cute picture there
+Sam Lord and everyone's minds went viral and desperately tried to shut down..
I love how masterful Colbert is. Jimmy corpses constantly, while Colbert is completely stonefaced. I've always loved that about him.
Not a crime to laugh at Colbert's comedic acting skills. Jimmy Fallon did well.
damiester1 Fallon did very well. I wouldnt be able to help myself. Just looking at Stephen would be enough to make me laugh.
Corey Carnes Corpsing IS unintentionally breaking character by laughing. What you describe as a "break" is, indeed, corpsing.
Colbert's timing is perfect.
this segment perfectly shows the difference in their two shows. both are good, but stephen's is intelligently funny
Jimmy: "Truth.... or truth?"
Stephen: "................ tr-no.... truth"
or something like that... I liked that one
"I wouldn't say there was any romance involved" Best one
"So good, so good!" ;)
"Not even any names"
I finally have something in common with Stephen Colbert, we both wear the same kind of underwear
#themoreyouknow
***** Nice! ;)
***** Got a reply, Life complete.
Bhanoob I know right? :)
***** More like #themoreyouno amirite?
Damn, Colbert can make his reaction to anything funny.
"Have you ever been romantically linked with a horse?"
"Naayyyyy"
+Chance Cooke It was just raw animal attraction
And that's why Colbert is the one up on stage instead.
+Chance Cooke
lol, perfect -- can't believe they didn't think of that.
That would have been a perfect colbert line
*****
lol exactly -- like very solemnly looking up at the camera, _"......... _*_nayy_*_"_
"what is your biggest regret?", I swear to god I saw Jimmy Falons entire career flashing in his eyes
garfoonga1 lmfao
garfoonga1 lmaooo
Savage
"I wouldn't say there was any romance involved."
OH GOD
"Not even any names."
A reference to the song 'A Horse With No Name.' by America.
Stephen just outclasses him here

Oh well.. I'm sure Colbert just started off a brilliant comedian and put no effort into it
NOT
+Jesse Cook watch a clip from Whose Line Is It Anyways? .. He raps and it's pretty awesome 😄😅
Jimmy does a ton of things that Colbert could not sell well. He's not "generic" funny, he's silly with a lot of charm and a golden retriever personality. Surprised none of them went for truth
HeyTray1 Steven was about to, but then he chose truth instead
Fallon's biggest regret is Nicole Kidman
His wife watches the show, so he can't say it.
***** This was before he knew.
Sharif Sourour Okay, then that applies to the OP's comment as well.
nfinitiduck fill me in??
Braxton Wise Use the search bar.
I kept wanting this scenario:
Jimmy: truth or truth?
Stephen: I want the truth!
Jimmy: YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!
Colbert's face when Jimmy answers the last question was priceless. That man can do no wrong.
Lol he was just on point
stephen colbert, john oliver and john stewart. can't replace them!
+xXGrizZ but he used to play a character that was pretentious, condescending and a douche. His main inspiration for it was Bill O'Reilly.
Penske Material You knew it was a character though. That's what made it endearing.
xXGrizZ lol but it's almost the same. And I don't agree with the way you describe him anyways.
Trevor Noah is pretty funny
Jimmy, everyone knows that Stephen Colbert is the truthiest man on the planet.
Nothing has been more truthiness
Colbert can't be cracked
Look up Munchma Quchi from his show. He breaks, and it's hilarious.
DatsBoCrapp Yeah but he broke not because of "Munchima Quchi" but because the pic they used was his mother in law.
admirnaruto Yeah, I know that lol. I just love that he tried so hard to stay in character, but he couldn't.
DatsBoCrapp I don't think anybody would be able to stay in character, in that situation :P
admirnaruto Lol, well if Colbert can't stay straight-faced, then yeah, no one can. :D
"Someone else?"
Lost it.
that was just hilarious. you just can't compete with Stephen's wit
can you explain it?
adish jain Stephen was implying that he might've been crying when making out with himself.
When he said _someone else_, he meant "you mean with someone else"?
The look on Stephen's face when Fallon said his favorite show was another one. I just wanna hug him lol
"Have you ever been romantically linked with a horse?" -- Now he has! xD with Frederick the horse, the most handsome horse in the world. hahaha
Stephen is on a whole other level and Jimmy just can't keep up.
Colbert is so witty
Colbert is so damned hilarious, Jimmy can't even hold a straight face. These two are hands down the funniest people on tv!
once you watch one jimmy fallon video you watch them for 4 hrs straight
It's like Pringles... for your eyes & ears.
jimmy fallon is the type of guy who would in the AUDIENCE not a host~
sorry but its true lol
For real though lol
***** So true. This thread is my life in a nutshell.
the trueparadisecity For me that's called "A Tuesday Morning". Did you guys see the one where he is on silent library with the Roots?
Two favorite hosts at the same show. Yay!
Colbert is the master of the straight man. Fallon will always break first. ;-)
This bit was pretty much the guy that almost always keeps a straight face vs. the guy that laughs every time.
3:03 Colbert doing his best Matthew McConaughey impression
alright alright alright
i havent met my hero cuz my heros myself 10 years from now so im never gonna meet em
It was LOVE we had colbert! I remembered your name!
I love Colbert.
Natalie Walters Haha, agreed. Honestly, I find it endearing (:
He's a genius - Colbert of course!
"Have you ever been romantically linked with a horse?"
"No.. . I wouldn't say there was any romance involved. Not even any names."
LMFAO! Colbert!! :)
"No"
Jimmy Fallon has an anti-poker face. You can't read any information from it because he always looks like he's about to crack himself up.
+Simon Carlile exactly haha
Simon Carlile love that about him
Colbert always takes truthiness.
Stephen Colbert's replies were better, but Jimmy Fallon's questions were better.
Colbert is a GOD
They're both awesome but Stephen makes me laugh more. And he's cute
two glorious men..
"...there was no romance, not even names..."!!! - Made me wish I had a TV. Thank goodness for the Internet and the uploader!
Colbert absolutely BROKE that poor man!
Steven Colbert and Jimmy Fallon in the same room, why did we wait so long to make this happen
OSIRIS REZREKTD because Colbert so clearly outshines Fallon
exactly my point
colberts right ear cannot be unseen
I don't think it's possible for me to love Stephen Colbert any more then I do right now lol
I just want somebody to break the mold and shout "DAAREEEE!" at Fallon
Stephen Colbert is the wittiness person I've ever seen
Your underwear... Men's or Women's?
No.
Fear3lementFilms i still dont understand:( can you explain?
assyifa bintang He means "No" as in "Neither, no underwear"
Colbert is a smart guy and needs to be called more on this show!
So many comments are bagging Fallon because he can't keep a straight face and that's one reason he's my favorite talk show host - he openly enjoys himself on air.
This is why Jimmy Falon is not on Comedy Central, the man can't keep a straight face.
It's called Comedy Central. If the hosts don't even laugh, you know something is wrong.
14Schofield Still, Steven Colbert can keep a straight face during his sketches.
TeamGavino Heh, not always. He laughs quite a bit, especially during interviews. He laughs a lot more when not on camera, even if he's in-character.
Colbert is gonna be the best talk show host. Fallon still seems like an amateur at interviewing people and making it interesting. Conan and Letterman could make interviewing a librarian seem epic.
"Your underwear. Men's or women's?" "No."
'Have you ever been romantically linked with a horse?'LOKI WTF
Samara Duffie
"loki wtf" my life
I love how Colbert calls Jimmy, "Fallon".
That thing that he does with his eyebrow in 1:01 is genius!
This is by far my favorite truth or truth! It's hilarious! I back to this video very often!!
Stephen will definitely be the best ((Late Night Host Ever)) I have high expectations for him.
I really enjoy watching these late night shows-- Jimmy Fallon, Kimmel, Conan, et al. without having any particular favorites... but now, I do-- Stephen Colbert :) ...I've been watching a few interviews he did on his show, and now I'm a fan :)
Colbert is awesome, a shame that he is leaving his show.
I think it's awesome. Two good friends are now going to be hosting their own tonight shows. It's gonna be a fun decade or two of late night talk shows
Gabe Sloan
Absolutely.. but it means the end of Colberts satirical art figure!
yah but letterman was getting really tired. i hope he totally changes it and gets more mainstream and unless political, who really cares about that stuff.
Brent Cedarquist I'm sure you meant "less political", but the answer is that EVERY AMERICAN CITIZEN should care about that stuff.
I love this man. I'm talking about Stephen obviously
Stephen is a hilarious and delightful man.
I would totally be like Jimmy. I would burst out laughing at times. IDK how Steven can keep so cool with a straight face.
Both of them so adorable in the same picture. I can't!!!! 😊
Did Stephen really come up with these answers on the spot? Or was this scripted? Because damn, he's killing this with incredible wit and intelligence. This is just so well executed! so delicately, down to the smallest expression, reaction and tiniest detail. Damn.
+Simon Thomas

I'm not sure about the answers but I know stephen has the questions on an autocue, and I can tell jimmy is reading the answers so I assume both are on a prompter somewhere behind them
Jimmy literally can't control his laughter when dealing with the funniest guy who airs at 11:30!
Stephen Colbert has mastered the art of not laughing.
The Colbert Report was a 9 year training ground for that.
Gotta say: If Colberts answers aren't written but improvised, that guy is a genius!!
I love how Stephen was so much funnier than jimmy
BENJAMIN DEWOLFE el senbrador
He always is
Oh i love Colbert.
Fallon is always such a fanboy I love it!
Hahaha I already watched this video several times quite a while ago and no Wonder why I simply love Stephen Colbert!!! Stephen is m.f.ing genius. he amazes me every time. The guy is so gifted.
He's good he's not as great as people like you try and make him out to be though.
So you give a judgement to defy my judgement. Interesting. OK, may be you are right. I should have said that i like him more than other comedians. A generic statement was a mistake.
2:13 And that name is Frederick the Great
Great bit from my two favorite talk show hosts!
Does Colbert ever laugh? He's so damn good.
+Dylan Olson He did, with Jon Stewart. And on his own jokes.
I love how Jimmy looks completely defeated right after Stephen asks "Someone else?" 1:15
Jimmy: Better Questions
Stephen: Better Answers
lol colbert played that underwear truth so perfectly
"I'll go with tru- No. Truth." Hahahaha.
I wish he and Jimmy did another round of BFFFSM. Those were the best.
The horse question is funny now that Stephen has had Frederick the Great, the most handsome horse, on his show.
Stephen is such a good improvisor.
Best two people in late night television right now
stephen colbert is the king of late night
God I love Stephen.
Jimmy's ice cream is fantastic, but my love for The Americone Dream is eternal.
He should have said the daily show with john stewart
he said at 11:30
the kingkoopa Jp Don't watch tv regularly, so I couldn't tell you any shows schedules aside from the walking dead and Revoultion
yeah the daily show is at 11 before his show
I thought he was going to say Letterman.
He should have said Late Night with Seth Meyers...
Colbert is the man!
"Have you ever been romantically linked with a horse?"
Do I look like Hercules Mulligan?
"I wouldn't say there was any romance involved." LOL
Colbert is so witty and hilarious. While I am sad that his Colbert character is off the air forever, I am so glad that he will be taking over the tonight show. I know that he will do a great job. He is without doubt the best late night TV host right now.
I'm Chinese and I don't know the symbol for 'you go girl" 😛
okay

I don't mean it like that, I mean if this bit was done on the Colbert Report I feel like I would have laughed a lot more.
I think he isn't retire but he is replacing Letterman in 2015
*****
Colbert is actually replacing Letterman on the Late Show later this year. Jon Stewart hosts the Daily Show, and while he has confirmed he's leaving that show later this year, so far there is no replacement host slated to take over once Stewart leaves.
fallon can't handle COLBERT 😂😂😂
they're really funny together. I would love to see more of these
Stewart/Colbert in 2016, they might not know what their doing, but at least we'd be laughing on our way down the tubes.
Actually, they would both probably have a very strong understanding of what they're doing if they ever decided to run.
Shadow Quote Well, it couldn't be too much worse than our options now. This endless parade of liars and half-wits is enough to make a nitrous oxide junkie weep.
Eh, that's politics, I guess.
well...
