I heard a lot of things are conveyed in this movie that didn't really happen in the way the movie shows they happened. Creative license, I guess. For example, Donna Summer recorded "Love To Love You, Baby" in Germany. Neil Bogart was not in Germany when Donna recorded that song.
I really enjoyed the film despite it's shortcomings. I enjoyed the music and was aware that recollection and its portrayal is in the eye of the protagonist. Memory is a funny thing. What I have found surprising is as KISS fans most are fully aware of Neil Bogart and his story. Not as prevalent in other fan bases, and general music fans. I know why the film makers decide to narrow the already wide focus of the film, but Victor Willis is right- The Village People being constructed around him is an interesting and very important story.

Bogarts son explains some of that in varous interviews
