Oh my gosh no way!!!! I always thought it was octopi! I'll definitely be saying octopuses from now on hahah thank you!! and yesss, its so fun to test yourself, but in my case, it made me very sloppy xD
There are actually three plurals of octopus considered correct given the origins of the word: octopuses (English), octopi (Latin), and octopode (Greek). Interestingly, my keyboard is automatically correcting to octopuses 🐙 every time. I have to force it to accept the alternatives.
I timed myself (I’m a very new beginner) and I could do one in an hour and twenty. I’m sure I could do a little better now after making 8, but it’s going to take me a while before I can do one in an hour.
Ive been crocheting for 20 years i started at 7 when my nan taught me how to make a continuous granny square blanket but anything after that i watched videos then i taught myself how to read a pdf pattern and now im writing my own patterns. Your videos are great to watch whilst crocheting.
You are amazingly fast at crocheting! Your videos keep me motivated to start new projects, and as a beginner crocheter, I love your tutorials. You are incredible!
YAY for leg sitters! I started crocheting in January and literally uttered the same words on Monday, "Crochet is killing my back." Also just did my own pattern for a mom octopus because of the lack of tentacles I liked. I wanted twisties but still have the webbing close to the body. Still trying to finesse that.
I feel like i'm the only one who takes 2 hours to finish like... 1/3 of my piece 💀 and BTW, love the video!! They help me stay motivated and the octopi looks so so cuteeee!! love themm
I was so happy to see that we can sell finished products as long as we reference who the pattern was made by for these octopi ! It’s such a cute pattern!
Hi Genna, I just saw your videos for the first time after getting back into crochet. I am currently watching while working on a sweater. Thanks for the chill videos to watch while working on my project!
These octopi are so cute! Also, rounds is correct. When you're working without turning, you're working in rounds. When you turn your work and go back and forth, that's working in rows.
I agree with what u said about the octopus tentancles in other patterns. Thats why ive never tried to make one... i rlly like how they look in your pattern tho! Maybe thatll be my next project ;)
Love your channel! You're so cute! You've inspired me to dig out my long-forgotten velvet yarns to crochet with. I've only used them a couple years ago to make pumpkins on my Addi machine. They've just been sitting in the bottom of my yarn bins.
Hey, just started watching you, and* following you today. I wanted to let you know I appreciate your integrity on wanting to measure accurately^*, how much can be done in an hour. However… Don’t worry about us much to that point hun~ I rather this channel and audience NOT* stress you, because the way you are is lovely and I rather enjoy watching have fun~ while teaching/learning more about your passion and craft, and felt I needed to communicate this with you, right off hun~ Thank you for uploading and sharing your creations with us 😘. Now onto making a little plushie for my little one XD
I can't believe you've only been crocheting for a year. I've been crocheting for three years now and I just made my first pattern and just now considered the thought of selling my work. It's likely that you were crocheting a lot more on average in that one year than I was in the past three years though. I feel like the possibility of selling my crochet work has revamped my interest again and now I have a million things that I want to make for my first market next week in addition to a million things that I added to my queue to make for myself.
I've been crocheting for a couple months ago and I'm making a huge blanket and some scrunchies, a cute little blanket for a toddler I know, 😍 and an owl❤❤I love crocheting!!
I started learning to crochet around the month of may and in June I made my first pattern of an axolotl :) Since then, I have made a whale pattern, a bee pattern, and an egg pattern! I'm working on a bear and stitch pattern at the moment! :)
I talk to myself almost constantly, even when I'm with another person. It's just a habit I can't break! I'm so happy to learn that I'm not the only person who talk to themselves a lot! 😁
if you happen to read this a great way to learn to read patterns is to find a pattern that also has a video so you can follow both and you can see what the pattern means. that is how i learned
There is a difference between a row and a round. A row is when you go in a straight line. For example if you were to crochet a blanket or a scarf you would crochet in rows because you would crochet to the end of the row, ch, turn your work, and crochet another row. A round however is when you work in a spiral or circle like what you are doing. So you are calling it correctly.
For 1. Do you sell the pattern?, for 2. and 3. A round in crochet aka rnd is when you do not connect at the end, but a row has a stitch that you do a slip stitch into aka slst to end the row so they are different but I would have never known you didn't know that if you didn't mention it bc your such a fast and talented crocheter, also I love those octopi! ❤❤❤
Hi Genna, I enjoy watching your videos. Can you tell me any tips on starting out with selling? How do you sell wholesale and do you need a selling permit? Thanks. 😀
I just started crocheting 5 days ago now, and I have a lot of trouble with sewing in ends, it all confuses me! Do you have any tips? (your plushies are so cute by the way)
hello!! thank you soo much ❤️ and omg this confused me so much too when I first started. You basically just want to weave the end in and out of your plushie to make it nice and secure. Then cut your tail and use your sewing needle to poke the leftover end into your plushie to hide it!
I'm croteching for like a year and my posture is kinda good in the beggining cuz I'm always sit on chair and lean as time goes by my posture is just terrible
I've been crocheting for 2 months now at the age of 12 already planing on macking a shop and when I heard after only 6 minutes you had almost your entire octopus done I was like how as it takes me half an hour to do 1 Edit now she fineshed and i realised it took her 20 min i dont feel a bad about myself
Octopuses is actually correct 🤣 but octopi is acceptable as well. I love this pattern. It's so cute😊. May i ask what hook you are using? I mean style of hook not size.
Hahahaha oh my gosh I never knew😂😂 I definitely prefer saying octopuses so thanks😂😂 Im using a hook that I got from Hobby Lobby! It’s a metal with a soft grip if that helps!
@@crochetbygenna it does thank you. They both just sound weird to me🤣 but i think octopuses is definitely more natural feeling to say😊. Love your channel, glad i found you🤗
I LOVE LOVE LOVE watching your videos plus I just recently followed you on instagram and I’m a beginner crocheter 🤭🙂I have 2 questions , do you do anything to help ur back pain while crocheting ? And do you watch anything while you crochet or just simply focus on crocheting ?
Hehe aww thanks so much for watching and following❤️❤️ I usually try and support my neck when I crochet now so leaning against the couch or something which I found helps with my posture and back😅 and I usually watch netflix or other youtubers hehe!
Yes when I started crochet I had to have a video and even tho I have been crocheting for my mths I still can't really read patterns that good😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😊😊😊
Hi can you send your free pattern for octopi. I will have my first show next month. So far I have 8 hens and would love to have any free patterns to get started . Thank you so much joan😊
I love your videos. I made the turtle just with “skinny” yarn and it turned out great. And I made a jelly fish just by your instructions for the head. Thank you
Hey everyone!! I hope you enjoy this video, I can't wait to share the free tutorial for the octopus later this week
Can't wait to see! I am so confused on my jellyfish. Talk to you later. Your plushies are adorable.❤🎉
OMG when i saw your dogs name i was like oh my gosh thats my name!!
❤ love you Genna!!!!
Now I kinda want to test myself like this too! Fun fact: the plural for octopus is both octopi and octopuses. :)
Oh my gosh no way!!!! I always thought it was octopi! I'll definitely be saying octopuses from now on hahah thank you!! and yesss, its so fun to test yourself, but in my case, it made me very sloppy xD
Octopi is incorrect because octopus is not from Latin it's roots are in the Greek language.
There are actually three plurals of octopus considered correct given the origins of the word: octopuses (English), octopi (Latin), and octopode (Greek). Interestingly, my keyboard is automatically correcting to octopuses 🐙 every time. I have to force it to accept the alternatives.
And Octapodes!

These octopi are so cute! Also, rounds is correct. When you're working without turning, you're working in rounds. When you turn your work and go back and forth, that's working in rows.
Ahh of my gosh! This makes sense, thank you for letting me know!! And thanks so much :)

Really like your idea. Would like to learn how to make one but the music is annoying. Can't see what you are doing.
Honestly,
Its harder to finish the plushie after you stuff it 😅
wow
The plural for octopus is octopuses. This is because it's derived from Greek, and not Latin.
Thank you!! I will use octopuses next time :)
How are you able to talk when you’re counting?!? 🤯. And you seem so fast. Any chance you’d do a video on your magic ring?
