I came here by way of a P0340 code video. For anyone with a 2000 RAM 1500 5.2 your crank sensor harness in on the rear of the engine with the crank itself being in the transmission bellhousing. Your Cam sensor (or pick up coil among other names used) is under your distributor cap with the lead and harness being on the driver side. I honestly recommend replacing both at the same time (I'm shade tree mechanic, not a pro) as it seems any vehicle I've ever had these issues with one always seems to go right after the other.
I bought a used 05 dakota and had to replace this. This video was alot of help, the only problem I had was the bolt wasn't a 10mm. It was a 13mm on mine. Oh and also, it wasn't as easy as you made it sound and look lol. Granted it was my first try changing one.
I get that sometimes. I have also learned that having small hands like I do comes in handy.

I heard a rattle on 2004 Durango after removing crank position sensor and putting back in.
I was unable to get an ohm reading on the sensor.
Do you think the rattle is from how starter aligns back in or that rod broke?
I had heard a rattle on previous starts but it would go away after start.
Have you made sure everything is tight?

Very close to the same thing. Close enough that I would replace the crankshaft sensor to start.
What is the cost of the crankshaft sensor?
You should be able to get one for around $10-20.
