I have a 2002 Ram 1500 3.7, manual transmission. I've been fixing/replacing parts to keep my truck running. Got some misfires after replacing spark plugs. Thanks for the information! Gaskets and EGR... 👍👍👍
Mightve just helped me!! I washed my motor the other day..let it drain off while washing the truck. Two days later...she farts and pukes with 2,6,8 and 300 misfires 🤦♂️ thank you for giving me a start point
The misfire codes I got were cyl, 3, 5, and P0300. Turns out all the filters had collapsed and tossed the rocker arms for cyl, 2,3, and 5. Found all three rocker arms in the head. Used a small 10mm combination wrench and put a 90 degree bend on it and used it as a lever to remove the other rockers and replaced all 18 lifters. Removing the brake booster on the driver side helps a lot.
I appreciate this video. I'm going to check all of my gaskets now. I have a 2010 1500 4.7 and have been battling it for months. I have changed plugs, plug wires, ignition coils, the throttle body, crank and cam shift sensors, temp control sensor, both 02 sensors and have had zero luck. Mine misfires and keeps throwing the red lightening bolt light. I'm at a loss and am sick of dumping money into it with no results but I still owe $11,000 on it. Damn vehicles 🤬
Having same problems changed the plugs ran fine for 3 days and then started to spit and sputter. Thinking about changing the coils idk when was the last time the coils were changed. I'll check the EGR VALVE. I HAVE A LIL BIT OF BLUE SMOKE SOMETIMES WHEN IM PARKED AND HAVE THE A.C. ON FOR ABOUT 3 TO 4 HOURS AND WHEN I TAKE OFF I CAN SEE LIL CLOUD OF BLUE SMOKE FOR A COUPLE 100 FEET THEN RUNS GOOD.
Glad you figured her out. Ive got an 05 as well with 217k and it just tossed me an EGR circuit high voltage code. This morning the check engine light was back off again so i wiped the codes and im going to wait and see if it comes back. I have a new EGR valve for it, but im not going to put it on if its working fine. Im crossing my fingers it isnt something stupid like an intermittent short in the harness to the valve. we shall see!
Just bought a 2003 4.7 and it is missing like crazy only code is that p0300 and it is such a pain in the ass trying to find out why it’s happening just ordered new coils and plugs hoping that helps it out
I have a 2005 Dodge Durango had a tick so I replaced the intake manifold now I have misfires codes coming up first it started at number three now it says random misfire ,so I stopped checked for leakes I even got new exhaust manifold gaskets and bolts just in case because it is a Dodge ,
Thank you for sharing this might help me. I have the same P0300 code and every morning when I go to start the truck up the check engine light starts flashing and the engine runs like crap for a minute or two even if I mash the gas it won't really do anything. Once the symptom goes away the truck runs perfect. I really hope it has something to do with the egr or some vacuum leak. Thanks again man.
@@Tripp77 I figured mine out. I replaced all my coils and spark plugs. I got all 8 coils for 86$ and the sparks as well for. The spark are on sale for 10$ for 4
@@timothygarza3699 thanks. I just replaced all mine last year but it's acting like an intake leak.. haven't had time to look yet.. just trying to rule stuff out online. Guess it would hurt to test coils just in case again.. my model doesn't even have an egr valve so that's ruled out..
holly shit man i really hope my dakota is having the same problems, i really hope my solution isnt gonna take all that lol. thankyou you really help me out.
Im having the same issue with my 05 dodge ram and we already changed all the sensors even the computer.. spark plugs and coils and nothing it still not working
He's attempting to sound witty instead of outlining what actually happened. Translation: I think his uncle left out some gaskets...or Dodge left out some gaskets...in relation to the EGR valve. I can't tell, the guy is too busy patting himself on the back with how intelligent he is to actually point out what was missing and/or broken.
Thank you for this! I have the same exact truck with the same damn deep molten red color. I'm about to go through all my gaskets now that we just rebuilt this motor 6 months ago.... It just put the 0p300 code so hope i catch it quick.
Don't worry, I'm actually a published author, fairly fluent in English (I was born here in the states), and even I don't know what the hell the guy said.
Im glad you got your truck fixed but what's the point of this video. Your not helping anybody with this information . You had someone work on your truck and not reinstall gaskets . End of story. Why make the video. Thanks for wasting my time.
Your PCV valve is bad. If its a 4.7, It sits on the oil filler where you pour oil in. Its on its left side it just twists in with a hose on it. It’s a pretty cheap part and should hopefully fix your problem. Best of luck!
Morale of the story : "If you want it done right ,do it yourself" 👍

Did you have it reprogrammed after new throttle body

"my uncle swore he knew how to do head" in any other context bro 😂
Those 4.7s are good engines if they are driven to operating temp once a week to burn off condensation in the oil
Thanks for the video I just bought a 99 Ram 1500 with a 5.2 and random misfire and so far I can't figure it out

My misfire on my 03 4.7 dodge 1500 was just the spark plug. Even tho I change all the plugs and coils 9000 miles ago..
I’ve replaced all those parts and installed gaskets still ruff idle gas smell I’ve done every sensor/plugs/coil packs everything
Did you figure it out ?
Same situation here let us know
Update ?
Bad oring on an injector
Bad PCM
So was your egr stuck open or closed or just the bad gasket? Also was ur misfire code intermitent or constant?

What socket did
Which gaskets
So it was the egr gaskets
You're a good man..lol wow your uncle
Well ,, I got sumthin similar to y’all’s symptoms on the 4.7
Can’t blame your uncle. He was probably sick and tired of that job by the end. Heads on 4.7s is a long shitty job.

P03 is code for its cylinder 3
No, p0303 would be cylinder 3.
