Omg your a life saver. Your literally the best mechanic I’ve ever seen. Your video is to the point and unedited. It’s amazing u just saved me 250$!!! Ty soooooo much!!!!!
I'm not a mechanic just a do it your selfer, I was like you frustrated and wondering why a $20 part cost $200 to install at big shops. bought a Haynes Manuel and starting teaching myself how to fix things myself now I fix all kinds of stuff from my truck to my refrigerator. Glad I was able to help you Jakob
So no replacement gasket is needed on the 3.7L thermostat housing or does the new thermostat black rubber circumference seal the actual housing without the need for a separate gasket? Just wondering. Thanks for the video.
@@MattsFinds Can I use the same one "thermostat black rubber" with my Dakota 02 V6 36 instead of buying normal thermostat then buy gasket. Does it work?
I'm not sure about an 02 dakota. You could ask you local parts store if they could pull up the diagram and see if it shows a gasket between the housing. In this 05 the gasket is built into the new thermostat
I have to replace my radiator… should I replace the thermostat too ? I have. 155k miles. What else should be changed out since the radiator will be out. Thanks
It's a good practice to unhook just the negative terminal when working on any vehicle. Prevents shorts and shocks. Also it give the computer time to reset and adjust itself to the new working part you just installed
I've watched 5 different videos and yours is the only one that specifically shows that the spring goes toward the engine block. Thank you.
Glad I could help you, it's super easy to change out.
Thanks so much. These instruction work well for my 2001 Dakota V8 magnum. Same placement.
Glad to be able to help have a great week

No, you don't buy separate gasket, the gasket is built onto the thermostat. Just be sure to line the square nub in the right spot

Might as well change it since you gotta drain it anyways but get a good quality one not the cheapest one you can find.
And dont over tighten the bottom bolt like I did... Broke it off...lol
