Everyone's saying that this means a specific thing, but it means something different to everyone. For me, it's an example of how life treats us, that we'll loose things, people will betray us, and we will never be perfect. Not to long ago I figured out the world was imperfect... Sometimes I wish I was 5 again, when I saw the world as completely perfect, and I thought nobody was screwed up; I didn't think I was screwed up either, but I ended out being very screwed up, mentally. Life has flipped my boat very quickly. I wonder how many people with see this and completely relate..
fruit dye me. I saw it. I relate
When i was a kid i had emotions. I thought i was loved by my grandma. I shut my emotions to stop myself from committing suicide. At the age of 7 i attempted. I want to be 5 so fucking bad. To feel that level of happiness again. I lost 7 friends who were closer to me than my family to suicide. I had held one of them in my arma while he bled because i was 15 and couldnt bandage his wrists properly. Ive broken a window because i heard a gunshot in my friends room. Im so tired of losing people. Im so so tired. I just want the world to be nice to people
I can relate so much to how you feel.
Turn 21 and 5 months later im a conpletly new person. Not by choice ecen. Was self aware of the change the whole time. I don't like who I am now.
I guees I now understand that old saying. " We all fight our own inner demons."
@@LordSauron22 I'm so fucking sorrt. It not fair.
Every time I listen to this song I wanna cry.
Emma Faith I hope everything works out for you in life.👍
That is Real love Lady you dont have to only feel the Way they are
You are so special
Never forqet that!!!
Relatable to me too
Yessss
I believe, that the story of this song is about losing our innocence, figuratively speaking. The song is telling us about children with lights in their eyes which simply implies happy children, then they spoke of "the closing window, slamming door" meaning that the reality of life has started to dawn on these once lively children, slowly taking their innocence away. "They were kids that I once knew," sounds as if the singer is speaking to 'life' as if it were a person, "now the're all dead hearts to you"... and blaming it for robbing them of their light and joy and leaving them with nothing but dead hearts .
Wow, that's beautiful. :3
Truly
this song hes changed my outlook on life and its beautiful
omg that is so true! 8O
im crying on the inside ;( *ITS SOOO BEAUTIFUL XD*
"Like Crazy" brought me here. Loved it!
Me too. At the end of the film they played this song and I immediately had to find out what it is. I fell in love with the evocative nature of the tune and lyrics
their two voices come together in perfect unison, such grace such amaze, wow.
This song is about the passing of time and how everyone is subject to time. It's not about happiness or innocence or anything like that, it just shows that time is the only thing that is relative, other than love... the dead hearts are the literal dead hearts of loved ones, hence "They were kids that I once knew."
I thought it was a song actually about ghosts. "They had lights inside their eyes." "Did you see the closing window? Did you hear the slamming door?" "They were kids that I once knew."
In my opinion no piece of art is about one thing and one thing only. One of my favorite parts about art is how it has a different meaning to each individual based on how they interpreted it
Ash L. I have the same interpretation because so much of it seems to echo a superstitious rhyme, what with the questions on if they touched you or followed you.
RedShuckles Yes, but if the creator of the art is a single person, there really can only be one true meaning behind the art: their interpretation.
RedShuckles That is one thing I love about music. There are so may debates. All people have something going on in their life causing them to see different things. I see betrayal.
we don't realize but after a period of time that we forget others and what they did for us we take everything for granted and for those who are in pain and think its there fault its not we just loved that person so much we don't want to let them go lets face it we have been through hard times keep holding on it will get better no matter what people say your special to me just hang in there everything will be fine i promise....
Wow just by reading your comment I started crying you are so true and that's why I am afraid to forget my grandmother
i did a duet to this song with my duet partner obvs anyway a few days after the duet he passed away and now in my spare time in the studio i do our duet i feel like it keep him somehow with me i danced with him since i was 2 and now that yet means everything to me
that sucks a lot. I am sorry..
Wayward Cow its okay thank you
***** awwh hope she okay
***** that good i guess but loosing a friend is hard
Molly anna so sorry for your loss sincerely I lost someone too
Why are these kinds of music so obscure? This deserves more views!

Chuck, the show may be long over but its my favorite show of all time!!!
Completely agree! Best show ever
YEEEEESSSS
100%
I’m still rewatching this amazing show till this day. Always
I just want to explain what i personally think this song means.
I feel like this song is talking about how people grow apart from each other and change and "They were kids that i once knew" and "now they're all dead hearts to you" shows that. The lyrics "They moved forward and my heart died" could be speaking of a betrayal that ended in their seperation or that someone moved on and left the other person feeling depressed and unhappy. "It's hard to know they're out there, it's hard to know that you still care" seems to show that someone is still thinking about the people that were in their life even long after they stopped seeing each other. They still care about them yet they don't have any way to talk to them or are afraid to reach out maybe. "Did you touch them, did you hold them" shows that they saw them again and wanted to hold them and touch them again like they used to but then the lyrics "did they seem too real to you" seems to imply that maybe they may have just been making it up or imagining meeting them again. And finally "dead hearts are everywhere" tells me that it acknowledges there is tons of people going through this type of situation of missing the people that were once in their lives and being over ome with grief and unhappiness because of it.
It really makes me miss all of the people in my life that i no longer talk to..
I just heard this at the end of Chuck season 4 episode 6 and I had to look it up immediately! How have I never heard of this song or band before?!
ColdPotato thanks for sharing.
I am here because of that as well hahaha

Chuck is my all time favorite show. Rewatching now for the 26th time lol anyways it’s where I found this song.
This made me cry. This song made me think of my Dad. He passed away three years ago to suicide and I still miss him. I never got to see him before he died. Dad, I hope your in heaven now. I hope you can see that I still love you and I miss you so much. I'll be there with you someday. Just wait for me...I love you Dad..
oooo am sorru for the lost 😰😰😓😭😨😥😪😪 i agree ducose a lose samyon tou
OMG ur comment made me cry I'm so sorry I'm praying for u
My dad died too 3 months ago... im sorry for you... i hope i will see my dad again too but in real... not in my dreams or imagination...
I am so sorry for your losses it must have been so hard to go through and just like Xxlife gamerxX your comments made me cry 💝💗 and a virtual hug too
my dad commited suicide when I was about 3 and its so difficult. suicide is not like a normal death and I feel you man❤
Wow. It's strange. My first time hearing this song I immediately connected it to bullying. Bullying by my own friends and it made me break down crying. It just felt so personal and relatable. I don't know what the song is really about but this is what I hear when I hear this song. How bullies hearts are dead and ours are too. All of it connects to me. "They were kids that I once knew"
Natalia Flores /i feel so sorry for u..dear,don't ever let those "dead heart" hurts u ever again ok?,u must be brave to defend ur self ..people's can be mean sometimes but only u can stand for ur self ,even it might mean to stand alone..but u never alone god is always watch over you☺

Cik Pink Pale Sakura Thank you so much for saying this
Mostly welcome..😊
U are strong enough to live this life, pls take care of ur self and stay safe..💌
Cik Pink Pale Sakura I will and I hope you, with your kind soul, do too!
This song sits among the most beautiful songs of all time, never fails to make me smile, cry, or otherwise burst with emotion. Each lyrics is masterfully crafted and put together to truly convey an incredible message, one that will stick with me till the day my body becomes one with the soil.
+ColinDoesRubbish Preach it. You are definitely right that it never fails to make people smile. I always smiled.
It is but I see it in a differnt way
Not in a bad way though to ,e it kinda seems like it os trying to say There are loved ones whom have died and they are everywhere but people still care but to others they are just dead but to others they where kids they once knew
This song. THIS SONG reminds me of my own childhood and it never fails to make me smile because I am going through a hard time right now with me losing so many people's trust and being treated like a person with no soul. But this song reminds me of a better time, and it reminds me of the people I loved and the people I cared for. It reminds me of my grandparents that passed away 1 year ago and I miss them so much. They cared for me like the other people did when I was young. This song helps me remember that I still have some people by my side and it never fails to make me smile.
I am in the almost exact same situationGood luck to you friend :'3
May good days come to you friend I'll never stop believing in you, you always got me :3
I feel you. Good luck, and I'll be your friend.
good luck I hope things get better
Lyrics
Tell me everything that happened
Tell me everything you saw
They had light inside their eyes
Did you see the closing window?
Did you hear the slamming door?
They moved forward, my heart died
Oh please tell me what they looked like
Did they seem afraid of you?
They were kids that I once knew
I could say it but you wont believe me
You say you do but you don't deceive me
It's hard to know they're out there
It's hard to know that you still care
I could say it but you wont believe me
You say you do but you don't deceive me
Dead hearts are everywhere
Did you touch them?
Did you hold them?
Did they follow you to town?
They make me feel I'm falling down
Was there one you saw too clearly?
Did they seem too real to you?
They were kids that I once knew
Now they're all dead hearts to you.
Heard it on Degrassi, great song!
This is the best song that makes me happy and sad at the same time :)
Chuck brought me here... love this song!!
What's chuck?
NBC hit TV series that is now on Netflix. One of the best TV series I believe. :)
Amen
Kevin Li Hells yea it is it's pretty much my favorite show.
Yep I'm here because of chuck too
This is just an amazing song. just so amazing.
I discovered this amazing song thanks to Chuck. Love that song so much.....
I lost my niece today. She died in my arms while I did the CPR. She was alive for only 12hours. 😞 This song reminds me of all the broken hearts and shattered dreams from my loved ones. She will be missed forever. Rest well our tiny warrior. 🙏
Saw the trailer for Like Crazy, and this song immediately drew me in...convinced me to see the film. After reading some of the comments here, I discovered this is in Chuck as well. Eep! Just started binge-watching Chuck on Netflix, so I'll be listening for it. :-)
Yeah!!! i also saw the trailer and searched for this song...... i typed tell me everything that happened....
I watched a Regulus and Sirius Black fan art video with this song.... This is so good!
Like Crazy film brings me here.
To me this song is about the people you used to know. Maybe it's your friends, love ones, or even family members. But life and time has torn you apart that you turn into someone so different from each other. That's why 'they had lights inside their eyes' which is like a flash of memory that is still there, but your feeling though changed. The dead hearts represent the relationship lost.
Chuck!
This fits for the Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children so much
thank you so much for saying this. ive been rereading the first book and this makes so much sense!
This song really held me together when I was in high school. I'd put it on every night on repeat and stare at the ceiling and it somehow healed me, unknowingly. I've only realised this many years later.
i.. did the exact same thing.
@@keremgercek7280 I'm glad to know that I'm not...alone...
In a literal sense, the words of this song portray the female singer being consoled by the male singer after she has apparently had an encounter with ghosts. (Fittingly, as the opening track to a CD called “Five Ghosts” that often invokes imagery of the dead) Personally I imagine it being a foggy dusk, in a small rural town. The male character is eagerly trying to piece together what it is that she saw in her encounter, but she is seemingly shaken - if you’ll notice, she is not actually answering his questions, but speaking out to seemingly no one, as if still in shocked daze. She describes the ghosts as being visions of children she once knew, with “light” in their eyes, and she details the feelings of death and despair that came over her. The chorus talks about “they” (ghosts, or “dead hearts”) being out there, but insists most people fail to recognize it or believe in them.
this song reminds me a lot of miss peregrine's home for peculiar children...
Same
Evelyn Thompson That's exactly what I was thinking. ;o
Yaasss
That's what I think of every time I hear this song! I think they should use it in the end credits for the movie when it comes out.
yeah, it inspired me to make a mix for it
Dunno why, but for some reason I immediately started thinking about Ed Edd n Eddy. I know it's supposed to be about FAR more important subjects like bullying and/or depression, but I loved Ed Edd n Eddy as a kid, and I felt super nostalgic about how happy I was and the joy I felt watching it, as well as the sorrow after it officially ended.
used to listen to this song a lot back in 2012, but somehow forgot about it. after years here I am and this song still sounds just as soothing and comforting as ever....
Lyrics for reference
Tell me everything that happened
Tell me everything you saw
They had light inside their eyes (2x)
Did you see the closing window?
Did you hear the slamming door?
They moved forward, my heart died (2x)
Oh please tell me what they looked like
Did they seem afraid of you?
They were kids that I once knew (2x)
I could say it but you wont believe me
You say you do but you don't deceive me
It's hard to know they're out there
It's hard to know that you still care
I could say it but you wont believe me
You say you do but you don't deceive me
Dead hearts are everywhere
Did you touch them?
Did you hold them?
Did they follow you to town?
They make me feel I'm falling down
Was there one you saw too clearly?
Did they seem too real to you?
They were kids that I once knew
Now they're all dead hearts to you.
I only recently just discovered this song but genuinely the best song I’ve heard in a long time. To me this reminds me of when my mother almost died from my third sisters child birth and the hardships my family went though.
About a year ago, I've seen Stars perform this gem live on stage. That moment was very dear to me, it was so sublime. I remember the crowd raising their hands up high, closing their eyes and singing their hearts out. From then on, each time I hear this song, I feel truly alive. It eases the pain. Thank you for making the greatest music I've ever heard of, Stars. 💖
2018 and I still love this song
Hendersin - Kids. ♥
Hell yea
i love this song my school choir had a concert and they sang this song beautifully and i had been trying to find this song for the longest time!!! love it
Chuck season 4! 😭❤

#rip anton yelchin 🙁🙁
Anton Yelchin was the best :) R.I.P.
tragic =(
I just remembered this song after looking at some art I drew based on this song. So many memories I uncovered haha
i always think "faerie folk" when i listen to this song
I just want to cry when I hear this song, for no apparent reason. Maybe because it's so beautiful, it brings sadness but joy at the same time. That's what I love about it...
i love this song since the time i heard it in a FMV of Harry Potter ♥
There's weeping angels in this video. What ever you do. DON'T. BLINK.
Chuck!!!
" Like Crazy " brought me here too. Great song and I danced with my dear husband at the end of the movie listening to this song, it was truly a great romantic moment in life.
When I was in first grade, and I remember it being a Wednesday somehow. In the playground in woods I found this cool rocks, there must have been at five or more, and they were all heart shaped. The part was that I couldn't carry them back to the school and bring them home. And that's all remember...not much
This song is so beautiful and peaceful, it makes me sad but at the same time delighted
Hendersinnnnnn
Yeeesssss.
The film "Like Crazy" brought me here. What an excellent song. I've litened to it 4 times one after the other and I'm still not tiring of it..............
This song should be in Mrs. Peregrine and the peculiar children
Omg yes
Monica Jose so true
I always think of that book when I hear this song!
Monica Jose that's what I thought when I heard it for the first time. The line about them having lights in their eyes made me thing of Hollows x Ps Glad I'm not the only one to think this
YES IT SHOULD XD
OMIGOD This is so good. I love this. I want to cry. Dead hearts are everywhere. They're kids I used to know.
everyone's saying this reminds them of lost loved ones, I'm here thinking about how Ben Solo killed all his classmates in Luke's Jedi training.
that boy is going places :D
he knows where true power lies!
I love this song so much. I heard this song in the credits of the movie Like Crazy and I instantly fell in love.
Chuck is so good.
this is beautiful ;A; and i agree it's mainly about kids losing their innocence.
I miss chuck so much.....
Amen
Oh wow... that nostalgic feeling againg.. This song sums up the outcome of the relationship of me and my childhood best friends... We were full of life... always together, we grew on the same neighborhood... that legendary neighborhood... now the years have passed and everyone kind of become "dead" no excitement, no passion for anything... The saddest part is that no one has kept in touch with anyone... they were kids that i once knew...
I would make a video with an old marriage and every paragraph of the song I would go back to the past of them. The marriage is a middle age. Then a young marriage until we can see a teen couple. And in every marriage they remember how happy they were but somehow they forgot how to. That's how my mind pictured it before watching the video.
when I hear this song I always imagine it's about a mother and father and their kids are leaving to live their own lives now. However the children and parents may have left on bitter terms. The father is trying to console the mother who remains worried about them.
This actually is a great song to put to Danganronpa. Danganronpa is a video game where kids are trapped in a setting and the only way to get free is to murder someone. This could speak about all the kids who die in the story. "They used to have light in their eyes; they were kids that I once knew."
MrAwesomeMatty that sounds kind of like corpse party only where as instead of the children killing each other, they die in a haunted school that was buried 68 years ago.
+MrAwesomeMatty That sounds like both Danganronpa as well as Corpse Party! Tbh
Agreed
this song is one of the few songs that make me fell so many feeling at the same time
2017 :) i love this song so much ♥

it's hard for me to watch and listen, because it reminds me about my grandparents that died this summer. losing them both almost in the same time is 1000 more times harder to swallow than losing only one of them. i'll always have you in my heart, grandpa and grandma.
This song...kind of reminds me of that one game Claire.
Just a great moving song
Remember, every monster and madman was innocent once. And every little child will be cruel someday, too.
Not every kid.
Everyone is cruel sometimes
Like crazy ❤

the most magical of songs make you feel something you can't quite put into words. that's what this song does for me.
I found this song in a fanfiction lol. It reminds me of homestuck
what the fuck is homestuck
+Roxy Lalonde You are the most ironic of the ironic but Dave disagrees.
2011 was a confusing time, and this song was there all the time, perhaps like a premonition. It makes sense for me today, how people change, how their hearts keep a place in our memories and hopes, even after disappearing completely. They might have been kids that I once knew, the same goes for myself. Dead hearts are everywhere, I still care.
I feel like this song is about the Newtown, Connecticut school shooting...
To all the commenters, this song is actually about things that used to be and no longer are. Yes time is a part but it's about wondering if the old things will always remain or fade away. It's hard to know what you want or what you know when everything changes overtime. That includes people disappearing and leaving your life
The lovely RiverSpirit456 brought me here
Beautiful. 6th grade nostalgia. 😢 ♥️♥️
i feel like that one part of the song would be a lot better if the girl didn't keep the same note for the entirety of the verse. like, if she actually harmonized with the dude, then this song would hit so much harder.
+Roxy Lalonde I was thinking the same thing!
The first time I heard this song was in 2014. A friend who I would eventually fall in love with played it to me and I still cry every time I hear it. I miss her so much... This song is and always will be my favourite song mainly because of the great memories I have of it.
