Hi Shane, sending you my thanks from Australia. I've just got my 880 hydraulics working again after being out of action for months. Replacing the pump got things moving again, it's 😀my first tractor and could never have revived this lovely tractor without your detailled guidance.
    Thanks again

Hello Shane, Excellent job on this video. I'm currently in the middle of the same job on my DB990 as you did and yours and Barry's video have been very helpful. The Hydraulics suddenly failed while I was working with the tractor. For reason that may forever remain a mystery; the Hyd Pump Intermediate drive gear's mounting shaft back completely out and it and the gear were just laying in the bottom of the casting. The Shaft has right hand thread and that gear turns to the right since the PTO Power mounted gear turns counter clockwise the same as the Engine; so if something had locked up in the gearing the torque would have been in the clockwise (tightening) direction of the threaded intermediate gear's shaft. I'm going to replace the bearing and would like to replace the shaft too because the inside race has done a bit of spinning on the shaft - no much .001" undersized. But of course a new shaft is not available.
There is currently a .010" shim between the rear face of the race and the face of the casting that should lock the inside race in place; so I made and added an additional .003" shim; I may add an additional .001" or .002" shim. I will use some Loctite on the thread shaft - probably use Blue but tempted to use Red when I remount the shaft.
Like you I also found that the "O" ring on the discharge side of the pump was bad. I discovered it while manually turning the Pump's Gear and I heard a hissing sound. One strange thing was that I did not have a single wrench or socket (metric or otherwise) in my tool box that would fit the four suction pipe flange bolts.

Yes I took one off about 6 years ago off since now I remember so you got an o ring kit from??

Hi there an thanks for watching! For the pump I got the seal kit from CaseIH. I should have gotten it from David Brown Parts LTD out of England, but I didn't. I go over the o-ring kit for the hyd pump in this video: ua-cam.com/video/IoJFH1rUJV8/v-deo.htmlsi=wnhynDJwgDVUz0Ln As for the rest of the o-rings, I used Campbell's recommendation on the 3mm cross section o-ring. No kit. Ordered from the "O-ring store" out of California. I ordered several sets of o-rings in various sizes from them based on the dimensions listed in the diagrams and parts lists on the CaseIH parts site. I've got a list of o-rings I've used available here: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11RU7l4u7Zc2HnYeLmQ5VeWYz6SLjhxcX/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=108447928847880437494&rtpof=true&sd=true
      Hope this helps!

Hi Shane I don't mean to critique your torque settings but V. hydraulic System 885-996 pdf page 43 has them at 40/45 lb foot.I will be re-installing my hydraulic pump soon also.Have new seals for it. Just need to check bearing position and equal thickness. If it's over 0,005-0.007" I could machine the face in lathe carefully. Good vid I think your tractor is a bit older than mine. 1974 996 I have. M😀

Hey Marshall! Please do let me know if anything is off or wrong about something said in a video! I don't want to spread bad info. Are you referring to the bolts holding the pump together? Those I set to 45 lb/ft. ua-cam.com/video/IoJFH1rUJV8/v-deo.html I couldn't find any torque settings for the bolts that attach the pump to the frame though and used the T. manual's general dimensional data section. Those are the ones I set to 25 lb/ft here. Are those bolts supposed to be 40/45 lb/ft too?

      Bolts holding pump together.

@@path.of.discovery The V manual says body through bolts 3/8" UNF 38-40 lb foot. That may be the ones on the pump body. Not sure. Going by that a 3/8" bolt should be around 40 lb foot torque. Do you have the V manual? It's on page 59 specks if you do. M

@@MarshallSmart I totally missed that in the V. manual! Thank you so much! It has to be the ones for the pump body to frame since it's in the section for the Hydraulic Pump specs. I'll make a note in the video description and pin a comment to the top.

@@path.of.discovery When you think of the pressure the pump can deliver it takes a bit of keeping in. Another thing I found out yesterday. The bolts on the final drive access panel, have one different. The bolt that go's in the top is a breather and has drilled holes in it. Managed to break drill in it trying to clean it out. It's out now.M

I found my drive gear laying in the housing and that steel pipe is broken i guess the pto feed pipe?

NOTE: the tightening torque for the through bolts to mount the hydraulic pump back on are 40 to 45 lb/ft, not what I said in the video. Many thanks to Marshall Smart for catching that! See his comments below.

My PTO is stuck when it is in neutral. If I loosen the bolts I can turn the PTO.

Hello Shane, I'm Portuguese. I have a David Brown 770. The hydraulics don't work. I've already put seal kits on the pump. I've already cleaned the Chester valves and it doesn't lift. What could be the problem? Could you help me?
