I own a baleno too, the only thing i don't like about driving in rain is the noise when the drops hit the roof. Rest is awesome. From India.

Yes, manual. With regards to engine noise... It's actually incredibly quiet if you're not accelerating hard... Keep in mind it's a naturally aspirated DOHC engine... They tend to sound more aggressive than a SOHC or turbocharged engine.
