These remind me of mom and I snuggled on the couch when I got home from my grocery store job… she always had a hot meal under foil in the oven for me then we would sit and watch this together before we went to bed. No cell phones… no social
Media …nothing but a land line and a lot of talking back then. Everyone today so
Wrapped up with SM and nonsense. Take a break from that crap and just be present. Thanks for the upload. ❤️🤗
That Sada Thompson what an actress!!
Awesome.Lady
Why do people keep saying that? She was decent in this role, but even here she was a one note, wooden actress.
Well she is an emmy winner for her acting how many have you won?😂😂@@gmh471
I disagree
Does anyone else think its disturbing that Buddy is so invested in her friend's relationship? Also, Thank you so much for posting these episodes.
Yes!!!
I always really liked watching this show when it first came out thanks for uploading. Nancy wants everyone to take care of her kid.
True, and with little to no help from her ex-husband.
@Tilly Divine ...Good thing it's only fiction. : )
@Tilly Divine she's a great actress, isn't she? The writers are the ones writing the script. .
Loved this show ! I think I was 9 ish when it came out and still love to watch it today . Thanks for the upload's
Thanks for the posting! These are terrific shows and bring back great memories of the 70’s!
“Terrific?” Sounding a bit like the characters... 😁
80s and 90s ❤
I started watching this show when I was 12. I watched it every week. I was in 10th grade when it ended. I loved it. Watching it again takes me back. I am amazed my Mom let me watch it when I was 11 as it aired at 10 pm.
You are awesome! Seasons 4&5 of Family are like rare unicorns. Every new episode is like Christmas Day. 😘
So true!
Would love to find season 1 and go to the end of the show but I watch what I can ! Again thanks for this brings back so much memories of a simpler time compared to now .
Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for making this show available! It’s crazy they aren’t all available on DVD as a complete set.
@@alishajenkins243 the first two seasons are on UA-cam and posted by Radio Dramas or something like that -
@@alishajenkins243the whole series is on Tubi for free.
I remember this show "Family" and I loved it. Loved all the actors too. Especially Kristy mcNichols I grew up watching her in lots of shows.
I remember her in "The End" and "Little Darling".
Love Sada. Helen was great in episode. So young😊
These shows are the best thank you for putting them out I remember I had the same hair as buddy growing up lol
So....they babysit Nancy's kid, make dinner for her, and do her laundry. Such an independent woman!
I was going to say that in the other episode, where she took her dusters boyfriend. All she needed to do was bring her laundry over and she did
She got divorced and went to law school. She needed help thru all that.
@@2degucitas Yes, quite correct. That is what family is for.
So selfish! She is only for the take.
These episodes are wonderful, thank you SO much for the uploads!!
I don't recall ever knowing this show existed. I am enjoying it though.
I was young enough when the show initially aired that the adult oriented themes flew right over my head, lol. That said, I appreciate watching it now and catching little nuances here and there. I almost look at this show like a pre-cursor to modern family dramas like "This Is Us". Great stuff.
Me too never heard of it growing up just came across it on here
The way that Nancy treats that teacher (and her family. and everyone else.) makes her so unlikeable. Ugh.
Thanks for uploading these episodes so glad I subbed to your channel
Helen Hunt was one of the most prolific child actresses. She appeared in two episodes of Family, one as a "bad" girl, the other as a "good" girl.
She appeared in three episodes of Family.
She also was in Gimme A Break. She played a pregnant teenager.
She starred in The Bionic Woman also.
She played Princess Aura on the Bionic Woman. She was from another planet. And Jaime Sommers took out one of her pursuers with a head of lettuce.
@@jaredjlinden
I remember that episode. She was chased by twin brothers.
Thank you for posting.
Thank God I preserved all these classics on the VHS tapes my dad bought way back..
Thank you for posting this. It was one of the episodes missing on UA-cam.

I have not seen it since the 70s. I live about 3 blocks from the house they used for their home. I used to watch them film while I was in High School. Thanks again.
michaelterry1000 just posted thanksgiving !!
@@grandehky7 Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I watched again. I hadn't seen it since it aired. It maybe the best episode of the series and I really can see why it won an Emmy. I love this show!
*Ah thats where I know him from, that guy was in the original Billionaire Boys Club in 1987. Love that movie, Judd Nelson was brilliant*
I’ve read so many comments from so many people RAVING about what a wonderful era this show was in…but was it really so wonderful when your boss tells you that the head honcho doesn’t really like women in the office?? Thank God some things HAVE changed!
Was such a fan of Kristi McNichol! Loved her in Little Darlin's with Tatum O'Neal.
The writers were really scraping the bottom of the barrel here to give Buddy a storyline. Honestly who throws anniversary parties for high school sweethearts...while they are still in high school? And for Buddy to try to manipulate her friend by pretending to date her boyfriend? The selfish controlling boyfriend who admitted he was "conceited and hard to get along with"? Why was Buddy so involved in this couple's personal business? Made no sense and is out of character for Buddy - I always thought her character was supposed to be a good person. As an older teen she has really become quite nasty.
Nancy’s ex husband Jeff could have taken care of their son for awhile.I was a teen when this show was on.Watched it every week.Watching this show now brings back good memories.
If Jeff took care of Timmy, this episode wouldn't be titled "Hard Times" LOL
He probably had a demanding schedule as well, perhaps even more (after all, he was not living in his parents' guest house), AND he had to make enough money to sustain himself as well as the alimony and child care payments. But, what about KATE? She did not work at all, and the guest house where Nancy was living was only a few yards away. In my opinion, Kate was being a bit judgmental and hypocritical here.
@@nassauguy48 At this point Kate was a music teacher at the HS.
Not good memories for Timmy!😗
@@nassauguy48 Jeff didn't have to make money - his parents were filthy rich, and he had a trust fund besides.
love nancy telling kate "hes my son & my responsibility". then pawns timmy off on her family...
Lol
I don’t like Nancy at all
Maybe if the worthless baby daddy gave her some help once in awhile. She said the kid is her responsibility she didn't say she'd never need some help now and then.
Typical Nancy.
That was kind of tacky of nancy.
All 3 of their kids say such similar nonsense
"I'm sorry, I've been under a lot of pressure" is something a young associate should never say to a partner unless something really unusual is happening outside of work, e.g. death of a loved one, caring for a sick family member.
I love Helen Hunt. She was excellent in "In the Company of Darkness." I think that it is still on You Tube. She just played the character so well. Her character looked lost and sad and she portrayed the character in an excellent manner.
I saw Helen live at Circle in the Square Theater in NY. She is wonderful!
@@LindaPongetti Lucky! She is an amazing actress.
As Good As It Gets
Will check that one out. I saw her in one with Scarlett Johansen (spell check), here on UA-cam, and she was wonderful. Really cute movie.
@@greenonions5296 I did not know that she was in a movie with Scarlett Johanson (I am unsure of the spelling as well.) What was the movie about please?
My red and blue striped, long sleeve polo shirt was so comfortable. I usually wore a turtle neck under it. I wore it in h.s. and I graduated in 1980.
I feel stressed just watching Nancy’s lifestyle. Not in a million years would I choose a life like that.
Nancy was always leaving Timmy with Grandma. How can Willy watch Timmy all day...
Willie Aames wore the same shirt as this couple did.Wow!!
Rugby shirts were “in” in the early 80s
@@DiegoRamirez-zc7fs I think I had two of them. They were actually quite costly given the late 70's. I was a poor college graduate at the time and could only afford two.
Willie Ames was TJ and moved away.
low budget wardrobe department 🤣
Nancy behaves so selfishly in this episode. Little Timmy is adorable.
Where's the good for nothing baby daddy? Out selling drugs?
Doesn't anybody ever lock the doors in that house?
Nancy is a flawed character. But Sada Thompson, the mom, and Gary Frank, the son are practically perfect. This show won lots of acting Emmys but it has not aged well
New attorneys have to work almost 24/7 to prove they are worthy of joining a firm. It is practically impossible for a mother of a small child.
It's a common theme of the series -- Nancy was written as an irresponsible a-hole who figures that if she bats her baby blue eyes and flips her golden blonde hair everyone will do what she wishes.
Nancy your milk is sour...
Don't drink it Willie..
Timmy finish your cereal 😂
Just two years before Family Ties.
I don't know how anyone had time to make coffee in a percolator. Especially Nancy.
Nothing worse than being a working mom except being a single working mom.
Mom raise my kid for me.
Yeah most "independent " women aren't they're more dependent on others than they wanna admit
It's a little hard to believe Timmy would miss his mum, she was always handing him off to someone else. His playpen on the other hand....
Nancy's trying to make a quantum leap in her career. Making it to "junior partner" is a very big deal. Once she gets that promotion, she'll be able to hand off a lot of work to other people.
Am I saying this is all okay?
No. But it's a reality many women faced back then and still face today.
Um, no. First of all, the phrase "junior partner" only exists on television. There are equity partners, non-equity partners and contract partners. But they are all referred to as partner. Second, partner is a nice title for the new partner, but they are generally glorified associates who still have to do the work for the partners who bring in the business. As is often said, making partner in a law firm is like winning a pie eating contest where the prize is a lifetime supply of pie. Moreover, she just became a lawyer. It will take her 6 years AT BEST to gain the title of partner unless she walks in one day with a hundred thousand dollar's worth of business (today it would be 5 times that). The entire premise of this story line is nonsense but, then, TV and movies almost always fail to properly portray the legal profession and legal practice.
Brava sada.
You can tell
How much Kristy likes James.
Seems Jeff, the father, should have spent extra time with his son at this time.
Just looking for season 4 - From Russia With Love… ? Not here that I can find.
"I'm going to freeze them."
"Rob and Sandy?"
That made me laugh.
Where was the dad in all this? I always wondered that as my parents were divorced in 1979 and still saw my dad all the time or stayed at my nanas if mum needed them go out.
Helen Hunt...always pretty. Loved this show even though it was very liberal which we weren't. The Walton's was more our style.
They were both guest stars on The Bionic Woman
I never noticed what a busybody Buddy could be just because she doesn't like change. She reminds me a little but of Emma on Degrassi in this episode.
nancy sounds more like Elise Keaton as the series goes on
@Mrs T really now i thought buddy & kate seemed more like they were related!
@Mrs T right!!! hey it just seemed like earlier in Family meredith had a softer almost whispering voice... but as the seasons progressed her voice became... well Elise Keaton!!
@Mrs T i do agree.... nancy looks more like Doug than kate
Interestingly enough Nancy became the lawyer instead of Willie!
That's because it's their same actress.
When Buddy was a little kid she was so unique and soulful. When she became a teen she became ordinary, consumed with nonsense, dating a jock, and boring.
Well your first sentence was correct anyway
Hollywood Soul Stealers.
Bowing down to conformity....tv teens
Wow, Nancy was tough!
It was about time Nancy toughen up!
Lol...she really had a rough go! ;)
That’s not Willie Aames. It’s another actor.
Watching Nancy’s stress was giving me anxiety. What a rough time to be a woman in a male dominated field. The preschool teacher was an annoyance too….
OMG helen hunt when she was young
"Labours of Love " episode.
Nancy was acting very selfish. Putting her career before Timmy.
It is not always just the parents who have to adapt to the children, sometimes the children also have to adapt to the life of the parents!
Just following the script!

Anyone else thinking it's weird Willy going into his mom's purse for the keys, even if she told him to? I am 58 years old & my own mom teases me to this day when I hand her purse to her instead of me getting something out of it for her.
This means you show respect for other people's property.
Im 56 and hand my mom her purse, too! 😊
yeah, 'ol Willie needed to 'cut the cord' from his Mommy ...After all, he's practically 30 IRL and that beard scratches Mommy's face when he gives her kisses 🧔
Go Nancy girl power
Gee I hate the name Timmy, or Bobby, Billy, Johnny. I hope when the kid is an adult he still isn't called Timmy.
Even the kid has no seatbelt
I really dont like nancy
Except for being pretty, Nancy doesn't have any redeeming qualities thst I can see....just saying
Yup! I watch the show alone but even my husband , from the background stated she's annoying 😂
guys... did you know throught the season nancy lost her soft whispery voice... & owned elise keatons voice!
I went to High School with Freddie Lehne.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I guess it was the style back then but all the guys have frizzy hair that doesn't look good, IMO
Kid acting up because the mother is busy. Any blame being poured onto the father?
Meredith Baxter has much more depth as Nancy than as 4th banana Elyse Keaton on Family Ties!
Agreed. Meredith Baxter Birney is more of a dramatic actress than a sitcom actress
Nancy. Never liked Elyse.
But she was likable as Elyse, not so much as Nancy.
Timmy acted out because his mom was never there
Why is the couple dressed alike?
Nancy should have set straight that asinine boss when he started with the inhuman demands.
You are so right! Bosses are always taking advantage of women who care for others. Messed up!
Happy memory day 🎉

I have an upside down fridge with the freezer at the bottom.
That was popular back then and now back popular now.
Um, Kate, you don't work at all, and Nancy lives only a few yards away in the guest house. Maybe YOU could help out as a grandmother?
Kate was a school teacher in later seasons.
Nancy moved into her own fancy apartments after she got a job. Because she had a riff with her mom..
Only a man can say a housewife doesn't work with real cooking, baking, shopping, laundry, a whole house to clean, a garden to take care of und a gazillion more things to do. You should try it yourself.🙄
Fun fact: both Meredith Baxter Bernie and Kristy McNichol were both lesbians in real life. Sistas ta the end.
Gross.
Not back then but yes they are now.
