From dialing the telephone.. to picking up a racket and playing 🎾…doing the dishes by hand, or putting them in the dishwasher….. people communicating and talking and actually maybe having a squabble or two not texting my phone and being completely void of any human contact this is how life is supposed to be. I understand that these shows sometimes make people feel even more sad when they recall their own childhoods. (It’s kind of like watching a happy Christmas movie if Christmas has only ever been a source of sadness.)
But try to remind yourselves that this show, and all others like it, represents a highly idealized depiction of family life. If your own family-of-origin makes you sad rather than happy, join the club. I’m happy to welcome you since I’m a member. 🙂 And remember, most of us had family lives that were nothing like this show. You’re not an outcast minority in this regard, you’re part of the majority. 😊

UA-cam's video editor stinks. I am still in the process of trying to remove the commercials, but at least the subtitles are back in sync.

I used the old version of the youtube video editor to remove the commercials, and now the subtitle are back out of sync. Sorry!

Not late at night ! No 24 hour news cycle. Most TV stations signed off around 1:00 or 2:00 am. Nothing but snow on the screen until the farm report at 5:00 AM.

As previously mentioned, that's because of youtube's video editor.

I hate that for people who need them. It's not fair how messed up they usually are. So many times I've caught them lying about what is really said. They coddle the viewers as well by not telling the truth of whats being said. Really a pet peeve.
