I have watched every episode that you have posted here & enjoyed them immensely. Still don't know what it means to be "working on my play". Every day for ten years?
wow, the plight of the single working mother is shown here so well. sadly, after all these years, its still not gotten much better. imagine how bad it is for a woman who doesn't have family locally to rely on -
+Shelley Are you kidding????? Every job I have had for the last 15 years has favored mothers so much it is disgusting. They can take 3-5 days off at a time, blame it on their sick kids and not think twice about it while I get stuck picking up the slack. When I take a day off I need a dr's note and no one is doing my work. Things are so ridiculously liberal now it stinks. We need balance, not for the pendulum to keep swinging to extremes.
The worse thing that a single mother or member of any other accredited victim group can do is blame others for what's wrong in their lives. If you blame other people, then in order to fix your situation you have to change other people and good luck with that. You have a lot better chance of changing yourself than someone else. So it's better to adopt the attitude that no matter what is going on, it's YOU that's the problem. That's how you change things.
@@micheleatlilacsrust5785 Yes. Working Mothers v. Working Women are 2 separate categories. Did you catch Helen Hunt (Sandy)’s Tretorn tennis sneaks? I’m also pretty sure Buddy and Rob were wearing matching Ralph Lauren button downs at the pizza place. Izod has been in most of the season 4 eps so far. Buddy is wearing Calvin Klein jeans in a couple eps-it’s hard to tell with the resolution but I remember Calvin’s had a white rectangle tag with red Calvin Klein lettering on the back pocket.
Timmy is a spoiled brat! First, he should be at least 5 years old since he was around in the first season and this is season 5. He doesn't seem much more than 3 though he could be 4. Also he's selfish and demanding. Even a kid with a SAHM has to be away from her while he's in school. But he was whining and acting out while in school then with whoever was babysitting him. It's time they learn that a mom has other responsibilities and can't be there for him 24/7. He deserved a good spanking. It was pathetic Willie whining at him that if he opened the door he'd give him this or do that.
Finally!!! I was saying the same thing while watching this episode. I watched this show from my senior year in high school until it ended. Now watching the series again on Tubi. I see a lot of these things so differently now that I am a senior in years.😊😊😊
Timmy's all grown up and talking. The whole time Kate was having it out with Nancy, she could of offered to take care of him, knowing how much she was struggling. That's what good parents do.
This is really good because it shows how everyone but Kate sorta enable Nancy. She has a lovely guest house probably free or cheap, on site babysitters, etc. She still whines. Doug and Willie really do her no favors sometimes.
I had to figure out how to make two incomes, provide a safe home environment, provide opportunities that both parents would provide like ballet lessons, piano lessons, softball, baseball, girl scouts, boy scouts, church every Sunday, Wednesday night bible classes, vacations, camping, birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, home dinners, clothes, rooms painted, new beds, bowling parties, parks, beaches ⛱️ 😅 Come to think of it?? It was a living paradise. Now the children are grown.... i work 6 days a week. Working hard to leave them a jump start. And yes. It's impossible to please other's expectations. I dont let it bother me anyomore what they expect. Why? Because their disappointmeht in my life wasnt going to bless me or my children. All because I couldn't "keep" a husband. But guess what? Oh...looks like you haven't seen a lot of Jeff-centric episodes, lol: after Nancy divorced Jeff for being a philanderer (with a woman in their bed, no less), Jeff went on to manage a band, living foot loose & fancy free (and always barely just a hair in front of bad guys) as the band's cocaine supplier. Jeff was obviously too busy living the Rock & Roll life to be mindful of such small trifles as "fatherhood". He probably sent Timmy the odd gift from his adventures on the road when he wasn't borrowing from Peter to pay Paul, we guess. I'm still shaking my head at Jeff having the nerve to borrow $3,000 from Willie (and by extension, Kate) to pay off the drug dealers that were on his heels when he finally did show up in town for longer than a pit stop.
Everybody always makes Kate the bad guy but she’s the most sensible, responsible and compassionate of all of them. And Doug is the worst one of all. He never backs her up. He coddles Nancy even though she’s a grown adult and should be responsible for her choices.
I didn't really like Willie with a beard. 6:57 Timmy is being a little brat 12:56 that was wrong for Doug to blame Kate. I think it was right to tell Nancy to make choices. Nancy said she could be a paralegal but Doug wants her to be a lawyer like him. Why can't he be proud of her choice
Seems like Timmy has some serious behavioral issues beyond just Nancy having to go to work with all these antics they gave him this episode. Well Nancy said they were going to see a child psychologist at 14:35.
I get sick of how judgmental Kate is. She never worked a day in her life until the kids were grown, and she felt like it. She could be there all day every day for all of her kids and was just lucky her husband was a lawyer that made enough money to let her do that. In the real world that was happening less and less even in the eighties and babysitters and relatives helped out single mothers that had to work. I would like to hear her better solution that keeps Nancy employed. I worked in some of the best law firms in South Florida while raising my daughter after a divorce and they don't want to hear about problems with children.
Kate knows NOBODY gets it all. Nancy has made certain choices and the family should not be responsible to rescue her from the consequences of her own choices.
While she can give good advice from time to time she was very traditional and very very old fashioned!!! When she did go out the house to work her kids were grown n gone for the most part except Buddy n Annie and they could mostly fin for themselves. Kate didn't have the same demands on her that Nancy is facing. I really think Kate was a little jealous of Nancy for having it all n her not at that age.
I really disliked that story line. And that boyfriend was bordering on being controlling. His girl was doing the right thing going to a different university.
No one did! Kate was a housewife who didn't have to work. She only started working a year ago! Doug paid the bills. Jeff should be tracked down and made to pay for his son! Jeff Maitland isn't off the hook either!
Kate disapproved of Nancy’s choices from the pilot episode. Nancy was Doug’s favorite and he was hard on Willie, and Willie was Kate’s favorite and she was hard on Nancy.
Oh, that Corningware coffee pot! It's in every breakfast scene. It was all the rage back in the day!

She’s far from perfect but she means well.
Timmy's all grown up and talking. The whole time Kate was having it out with Nancy, she could of offered to take care of him, knowing how much she was struggling. That's what good parents do.
That's what's called enabling. Not good parenting. Sometimes help and care come in different ways.
Nancy is the parent. Kate is the grandparent.
Grandparents have lives. We are willing to help but we don’t want to be taken advantage of.

You are right. I remember when kids on shows in the 1960’s would speak VERY loudly. (Like RIchie in the Dick Van Dyke Show). Timmy was pretty awful.
