I have to make a teapot for my college course coming up and I’m dreading it. Teapots are one of the hardest thing to make on wheel more less by hand. I have to make it by hand. To slab build or coil build something and it come out like this is amazing. No fingerprints, no unevenness, smooth body and parts is just amazing.
Teapots are extremely easy to make on the wheel. The only part that is difficult is spout forming, but give it two weeks of dedicated practice and that too will be easy.
You inspired me to build a teapot for my Dad. I recently dug out a bunch of clay from my garden. Nothing makes you appreciate the the work of a master like trying to accomplish his task from memory. Mine is not near as pretty as yours but I hope it makes it through the fire my Dad runs at least one pot of tea through it. Thank you for sharing the beauty of your craft
So moved to see this master craftsman creating something to demonstrate the art for us. It’s just stunning. It makes me appreciate the yixing pots more than ever. I can see now why they cost what they do too (assuming they are all handmade, not mass produced in molds). Thank you for making this video and sharing this process with us.
95% are hand made, before to make a teapot you have to make the tools first, and most different teapot need different tools, but not all, some tools can be used at all kind of teapots.
Yep; the tools are the objects to acquire. With good tools you can make this. all the tools are handmade; the surfacing tools are from mostly organic buffalo skin.
As a child I read a story about an impatient and arrogant apprentice who who he learnt every thing he needed to make a teapot from the maste6, except the last and most important part: the hole in the lid that allows the liquid to pour out smoothly. I've watched a few of these teapot making videos but didn't see them making the hole, is it necessary?
It is necessary. but this wasn't a real functional pot. As stated in the narration, this would ordinarily be done over days, not in an hour. This is just a demo pot. But a good story, nonetheless :)!
Anyone else and it would have taken way longer than 2 hours. That was impressive as shit!! I work with clay and that was an amazing pot that built by hand, no less.
You can read about the zisha clay Master Zhou is using and Yixing teaware in the September 2017 issue of Global Tea Hut. It is available free on our website. archive.globalteahut.org/issue/68
If you want to, keep it but If it's just sitting there without it being used maybe you should sell it. Then someone else can be glad for it and use it🌸😊👍
Zhou Qi Kun. We dont have his work, but the work of his studio and wife, who is also a master. If you are interested in one of his pots contact us. but they are very expensive. www.globalteahut.org
Can anyone tell me if there is a method for expanding the lid's small hole after the clay has been fired and teapot is about 30 years old? My lid's hole never got poked through all the way and needs to be gently and carefully opened. How can this be done? What tool and method if it's even possible? Thank you!
It was hypnotic to be there and watch Mater working. He was so loose and relaxed and clay was pliant and flexible in HIS hands. 🙏🏻
Mater the greater
Yesss corectttttt hahahha sorry girl i was happy that video has done and i wunt to buy that hahhaha
Magna mater indeed!
He makes it look so effortless, the way he can so easily manipulate the clay!
He knows how to make a beautiful tea pot and look good doing it
This is awesome to watch

How did your teapot turn out ?
I just made one and I think it looks better than I thought it would

that little spout? taken me 4 tries and now I'm taking a break! lol!
How do you know if you have a teapot created by a master?
He is so skillful.
Gorgeous😍✨👌. Tea for Teapot or Teapot for Tea? Don't know but best, Bestfriendship. 🙏.
Great video! Make you appreciate nice pots!
Agreed. And a good teapot is a life necessity
All I can focus on is that oxtail soup mug and remembering my childhood.
Yessss we had the whole collection, I used to love reading the recipe on it 😁😁
Those are his work clothes?! Wonder what he wears when it's time to dress up?
You think too much, Chinese craftsman never has any specific dress for the work expect the job is very dirty and dusty, no body care that as I know.
lol this made me laugh haha
A Yves Saint Laurent evening dress of course
👏👏👏, I send greetings from turkey.
The clay was soo soft ❤❤
Beautiful work! He makes it look easy. Does any one know where I can get the tools he uses?

I have that oxtail soup bowl!
i have that exact same oxtail soup bowl
Where can we buy simple tools to make these stuff ?
Like a tool box for hobby not work
I want to know that how they made the clay for this kind of pottery...
Don't they need to bake it?
It is fired at the end, else it would get soft again when in touch with water
tea pot love it
That was amazing!
ok, I make one now
장인의 손길이 느껴집니다!
Wears a suit to make clay pots, I wonder what he wears in everyday life.
this was brilliant
Realmente maravilloso!!!
Thank you.
Anyone know what brand banding wheel is this?

Did it actually take 2 hours to make that pot? I guess the comment was about the pot lid.

which clay did he use? can some one suggest the name of the clay he uses or similar product ?

Do these teapots get ripened in furnace afterwards? Or they r ready?
Yup, they go into the kiln.
Perfect
Now I'm thirsty for some gushu puerh!
Good Hard Working
where can i buy those ?
We have pots from his studio made by his wife, Master Chen: www.globalteahut.org
Crazy that he wears a blazer and everything to work, when I throw on the wheel I'm lucky to get out just a little covered in clay!
He's not throwing clay on an automatic wheel and using water to pull and shape the clay so he doesn't really need to dress for it.
How to make that clay what is mixture of that
ua-cam.com/video/Ieuus6efrnc/v-deo.html
I have a similar one for sale on eBay but after watching this I think I should keep it.
If you want to, keep it but If it's just sitting there without it being used maybe you should sell it. Then someone else can be glad for it and use it🌸😊👍
Jane Doe I kept it on eBay and it was sold! It was a nice piece. I hope whoever bought it enjoys it! 😊
Jana Prairie
don't know if it was said already, but the reason they don't use a wheel is so its more porus and the tea can add taste you know

what is this genre of music called? or this particular song called? I love it so much!
I don't know the name of the song in particular. But I'm pretty sure the genre is lo-fi hip hop. Loads of songs in youtube.

there are small ceramic drill bits you can use with a drill. i got some at home depot and they are the only thing that works with fired clay.
