Thank you so much for sharing that! That's actually a better story than lost love. It's a story of Man's best Friend's love. That hit me right in the heart because I love my Little Brown dogs (Boykins) so much 🐕🤎💙
I loved that song as a kid growing up in the 70’s! I also loved Crystal Gale! Not only did she have an angelic voice (silky smooth) but she also a beautiful woman. I have been listening to it again recently and it’s nice to know the story behind it! Dogs are awesome and the guy who threw the rock? Not a nice person at all. But I thought poor Crystal wrote it after a terrible breakup!! 🤔 ha,ha . Great song that’s for sure Richard thanks for writing wonderful song that I still love.
I met Richard at a work event in Nashville ten plus years ago where he was a guest speaker. At that time I thought he said the song was written because the dog was hit by the garbage truck and one of Amanda’s brown eyes turned blue. Now hearing this it seems the incident took place well after the song was written. I’ve told my version of the story to so many people since then. Amazing how history has a way of being recorded based on the little nuances.
Our local Elks Lodge had a fund raiser for Children...Beach Babes. We had to choose a song and a character. I dressed like Crystal Gayle and this was the song I chose. Great fun.
Guapo… igual que siempre. 😁 Pero debería cántala 1 tono más bajo…😅 (los años no pasan en vano! Jajaja! ) Handsome as usual. But she should sing it 1 tone lower. 😅 (the years do not pass in vain!.. Hahaha!) 👋🏻 desde Chile 🇨🇱!
He is such a wonderful guitarist ❤
Just so beautiful ❤Not just the song but even the story behind the song!
Oh, poor Amanda. What a beautiful story.
The song is my favorite Crystal Gayle song.

I remember Richard when he was a student at Langley High School in Virginia. Then as now he was bursting with talent. What a gift he is to us!

Wow! What a story! Hmmm... I can't type anymore because there's something in my eye.

I don’t know why ,I love to sing this song.
Wonderful story…
i want to know why this song is in the key of F#. It hurts my brain to sit down at the piano to try and play it.
@@GrayCrosby That doesn't really work when you're playing along with the record to learn the song.
Touching, I hope you like my version of this awesome song.

Richard Lee is Michael Palin's lost brother.
Someone should ask him about Paul Palmer. There is a difference story about this song
Usual swarmy intro
