The fact that this episode aired on the SAME DAY as "from you 2000 years ago" was fucking wild. Anime fans were eating GOOD that day.
If I had a nickel for every time an anime starring Bryce Pabbenbrook aired an episode that broke the Internet on the same day, I would have two nickels.
Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice, right?
I'm pretty sure crunchyroll that day was down for half a day
@@WhereMerx Really? From that much activity?
Legit I was like holy shiii what a good day!
@@HaydrogenBomb 2 massive episodes from the 2 most popular anime at the current time. Their servers got cooked.
I dont think people realize how INSANE Tengen's poison resistance is. He was poisoned in episode 7 and powered through for the entire fight. Meanwhile Tanjiro was poisoned, then SECONDS later hes on the ground dying. Even Inosuke who has some level of poison resistance had NOTHING on Tengen's, he was able to power through for a few minutes but was done after that.
And Tengen got SUPER dosed with that poison. Poison isn't a binary, where you have poison or you don't.
Tengen got slashed a BUNCH of times and he got his HAND CUT OFF, so he's SWIMMING in poison and still managed to keep a clear head. He even STOPPED HIS HEART to wait for the perfect moment to counterattack.
W Tengen Uzui, Rengoku would be proud.
Not only was he poisoned longer, but he had what 5-6 times the lethal dose? If one scratch was enough to kill someone Tengen took 5-6 times that dose. The cut at the start, the two soon after, his hand, the stab and his eye. Tengen is so underrated but he's still one of my favourites.
He even forced his heart to stop the poison circulating. bro who fcking das dat? bro just visit the afterlife and cameback deym!
That is true but Inosuke also shifted his internal organs
That’s crazy
He eats blowfish for breakfast
The entire city explodes, thousands die, the whole main cast just disappeared in an instant
Kenny pointing at screen: “nut”
There was actually a massive fire in that pleasure district on that night. Think something like forty people died, and those were the ones they could find.
It's cool when they incorporate real historical events into fantasy stories.
Well tengens wives evacuated everyone before they fought gyutaro
Everyone was evacuated here :)
A little clarity, Tanjiro IS trained in Hinokami Kagura, he dances it every year from sun up to sun down like his father, but using it as a combat form is new to him. All of his moves he used from it are just parts of the dance cut off from the rest of it.
yup many people forgetting this part thinking that he *somehow* know how to use hinokami kagura even tho he had the earrings that his father promise to him that he will give it to tanjiro if he can do it. the only form that he doesn't know is.
spoiler alert:
the last form of hinokami kagura.

If there is one thing about this show that everybody agrees on it's that this episode's animation is just spectacular. Man did the incredible animators at Ufotable put everything they had into this.
+ the soundtrack 💯
They always do amazing big fight scenes from this show and fate series/movies
It's actually ridiculous to think that Ufotable have been given a blank check for the Infinity Castle Arc. The upcoming war fights are going to be seriously top tier animated!
Must be the same key animators on the fate series
@@WhereMerx hope they do more animes that aren't based on games
How good is the animation in this episode?
NUT
But it's accurate
Yes and yes 😂😂😂
Notice how Tengen saved Tanjiro in Episode 8 by throwing him with his left arm, so after that Gyutaro sliced Tengen´s left arm off. Next time when Gyutaro was about to strike Tanjiro, Tengen once again saved him pushing him aside to the left side so then Gyutaro sliced his left eye, after which Gyutaro was then able to strike Tanjiro. Gyutaro´s battle IQ is amazing.
Dang, I never noticed that 😬
The broken fingers really freaked me out the first time I saw this; and I've seen far worse violence in anime without batting an eye. At one point, I even yelled "For God's sake, straighten them out at least!". It's funny how sometimes minor injuries can freak you out more than extreme ones, in these kinds of media.
I know right, don't forget the scene when gyutaro sliced tengen's eye and stabbed tanjiro's chin. Bro that literally gave me a heart attack
@@jesseDgoat It's a really fascinating subconscious thing. We don't attribute "humanity" to the shape of our bodies or anything. Eyes and hands tho? Expressions of the soul - they're what we look to when looking for "humanity". We express and speak through them. That's why seeing hands or eyes getting maimed hits harder than pretty much anything else.
It’s because it’s a very realistic pain, I saw a essay on it comparing marvel type violence to punisher type violence and it’s that most of us can’t even begin to imagine what an attack between super humans would feel like but a broken bone or a ripped off toe nail is something we can begin to imagine even if we’ve only experienced a pain like that to a small degree. So broken fingers like tanjiro had is very relatable but a cut off arm or cut eye is something that tends to be pretty unfathomable for most people.
Tanjiro's strategy against Gyutaro this episode kinda harkens back to when Giyuu had Nezuko back in episode one, and Tanjiro had to fight smart. I like that parallel.
Against an opponent that is overwhelmingly strong, the only option is to adjust
This is the episode we have been waiting for it just shows how GREAT the animator's popped off with this episode.
Nezuko's voice actor sitting idly in the booth be like: Here Comes the Money!
Kenny and Montana.. Some clarity of Uzui's technique against Gyutaro that the manga explained but the anime didn't..
Here’s an explanation of Uzui's musical score: Uzui has analyzed combat maneuvers to the point where he can read them like music sheets. He converts the rhythm of the enemies attack into sound so that every fight becomes a song. He hears repeated phrases and can attack between beats and during the rest, dancing with his opponent
i feel like the anime made it pretty obvious what he did lol
@@mrb1051 A bunch of people did not understand that in the anime
basically what gyuatro said, turning the enemy's attack pattern into music
The anime didn't need to explain that, it was a little too obvious.
(At 18:41) Uppermoon 6 siblings: Do you vermins think you're above the Hashira's hype?
Kamado squad: *WE **_ARE_** THE HYPE!*
"Kamado Squad". I've always preferred "Three Demon Slaying Amigos".
men be seeing "NUT" in credits and be like "Hell yeah"
This episode came out the SAME DAY as the Rumbling started in AOT... Truly a legendary day in the anime world. What I wouldnt give to experience that for the first time again!
*end credits scene*
Oh my god, how can they- hehe, NUT, -how could they end it there?!!
Lol, i love the abrupt "NUT" and the going straight back to shock of the ending
8:52 he is, he is heavely projecting himself into Tanjiro, at least that's what i and my entire family thought the first time we saw that and confirme later.
They've finally reached peak hype 🥲
Yeah so far it's kinda downhill from here
This season was everything.
21:16 best part of the reaction 🤣🤣🤣
Gyutaro was getting ready to unleash an attack before his and Daki's heads were cut off.
"Nut"-Kenny 2023. Classic lol
Gyutaro was trying to release his BDA as soon as possible, so its like one of those videos of dead animals still moving, its muscle memory
Gyutaro releasing the Rotating Circular Slashes after he got his head cut off but tried releasing it while it was getting sliced just shows how fast that sequence happened
Tengen using the musical score technique is interesting cause in fighting and even gaming most opponents would have some sort of rhythm or tempo to the speed of their attacks as well as a pattern. It’s just hard to pick up on it. Even difficult games like dark souls there’s some tempo to the attacks. In boxing it’s about mixing it up cause if the opponent notices you move a certain way when blocking a hit they’ll cause you to block that way to hit you in a open spot and be more devastating
Definitely... Tengen is supposed to have the highest battle IQ out of the Hashiras due to his background as a Shinobi, so it's cool to see one his techniques shows homage to that. You can see the difference when he fights compared to when others fight, for example Rengoku vs Akaza. Rengoku realized he wasn't gonna win and desperately started spamming every single breathing technique he had rather than analyzing the fight. I mean he wasn't gonna win either way, but he could have found a way to slow down the fight at his own pace and survive to fight again another day, especially cause the sun was close to coming up. Akaza would have just left. Instead he let the fight go how akaza wanted it and he fell for it.
i love this show for always breaking its records of how much more peak can it be
Wow, this dub version is pretty good actually.
Even Tanjiro sounds good, usually his dub voice doesn't quite hit for me.
God this episode was amazing. Still my favorite of the series. I read the manga and even though i knew what was going to happen the animation, music, voice acting and everything about this episode had me on the edge of my seat. It was so fun watching my friends who are anime onlys react to this when we saw this episode together. But the sheer size of Gyuutaro's suicide explosion even surprised me. In the manga it looked like it just destroyed a few surrounding houses, so to see the fact that the explosion obliterated a whole city block was insane. When that happened my friends and i were just sitting there in silence and disbelief. Such an amazing episode. That fight Between Gyuutaro and Uzui was chefs kiss.
Demon slayer is just pure amazing! Can’t wait for you guys to see season 3. This show just always in its Peak!
19:50 they showed this and the next episode in theatres along with the first episode of season 3 for promotions of season 3 last year. The theatre sound design on the fight was absolutely awesome!
This episode was truly worth the hype from when it came out and when my friends and I were watching it, we literally screamed our lungs out as the battle concluded! 😭🙏🏻🔥 I actually got to meet Tanjiro’s English VA at an anime con this year and it became one of my best moments of the year 😂🔥 Cannot wait to see your reaction to the last episode and all of Season 3 on UA-cam!!
Getting to experience these episodes again when they dropped in theater alongside the next season episode was so grand!
I went and saw it in xtreme screen cinema, they turned the sound up soo high I was hearing soo much more of the music and chanting then ever.
Was Fantastic.
@@AJTyrant that would’ve been so amazing! I went to see it at the imax theater and yeah the sound was cranked up so high it was such a different and intense feeling, I could only imagine rewatching the whole series in theater & reliving Rengoku in theater also, spectacular!
Ah, the best Episode of demon slayer
Darn right
You're right, until the infinty castle arc drops.

Shout out to u guys for watching and appreciating the English dub. Everyone just hates it just bc it's in English
Goated reactors
As a Dub watcher this makes me happier (I also like Carlie & Ange)
I love the shonen trope of "character swooping in for a save at the last second", and this episode has two of my favorite examples.
That split second of Tengen coming in to save Tanjiro, sword in teeth, is SO GOOD.
And Inosuke jumping in for the assist is AWESOME.
(Side note: The way Inosuke describes how he survived getting stabbed in the heart is so funny and in-character, but him saying poison doesn't affect him was more bluster than anything, as we know from the next episode that he would have DIED had Nezuko not purged the poison from his system.)
I think episode may be one of the best examples of something I love about anime/manga. Fights are ordeals. Characters struggle to win. And they have to be willing to go above and beyond their limits and even sacrifice something to win. It really sells how strong, skilled, and convicted the heroes are and how dangerous the enemies are and difficult to overcome.
Montana: if everything was destroyed, people got killed and your whole team got injured. Did you win?
Kenny: if the main characters survived then it's a total win.
Me: wtf kenny I thought you were smart?
Attacks timed with music is a Dark Souls thing too. Bosses attack in time with their theme songs.
Only so much. I'd say more like Sekiro, Sekiro is a legitimate beat game. Dark Souls bosses have so many variation in attacks that I don't think you can say it "goes to the song" especially when parries and staggers can break that flow. They do attack on beat, but when your music is 80 bpm that's likely to happen anyway.
Question: "how is (this character) still fighting after (deadly wounds)"
Answer: PLOT
I bet that was his actual bones in his fingers that broke 6:52
To explain the final Blood Art explosion form Gyutaro's body, he says during the final sequence that's something along the lines of "I have to release the rotating slashes", and that final explosion is the release of those slashes he was trying to build up. How his body was able to still release that power after he got his head cut off? I think we just have to chalk that one up to demon-power shenanigans.
I remember watching this episode when it aired and I missed the Taisho Era Secret. I thought this was the final episode of the season, because honestly, what an ending it would be. Lingering on the aftermath of a huge battle, unsure if anyone even lived or not.
It wasn't until a few weeks later when my friend and I were discussing the season that I realised there was another episode lol
The animation it´s on another level, no words to decribe what i fell when i see it for the first time... Just so amazing.
Thanks for the reaction!
That was hilarious
Kenny: OH MY GOD.... (nut)... OHMYGOD
NEVER BACK DOWN NEVER WHAT??!!
NEVER GIVE UP
freaking awesome!! btw this was the first time ive heard the english dub and i was thoroughly impressed with this episode.
What’s wrong with bro💀💀 “OMG….. nut..”🤣 never saw that lmao
(At 18:30) Inosuke: let me hear you squeal!
This episode came out at the same time as Attack on Titan. It was such a treat and every anime fan was hyped.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Inosuke, but that man literally has plot armor pumping through his veins to survive getting stabbed like that.
Inosuke can actually sense attacks coming several seconds before they hit.
I imagine that he was not fast enough to move his actual body but he could at least move his organs (since the flexibility has already been established)
I feel like that skill should have already been mentioned but it’s just shown in a flashback in the manga.
Dear God that was insane I was In Tears can't wait to see what happens next.
I know you get a lot of flack for reacting to the dub, but honestly the fight between Tengen and Gyutaro is where the dub actually surpasses the sub. While in the original it's typical anime yelling, you can actually hear the desperation and rage in both their voices in the dub, especially with that voice crack.
You're so right. I wouldn't even call the sub not good for this scene; the dub is just on another level.
everyone in the dub team did a fantastic job this season imo ESPECIALLY in compression to season 1
@@satiramalek2572The English voice-acting in season one was PASSABLE all around, and it definitely in season two.
Nah, I gotta go with the sub here too. Especially when Tengen yells out "DONT STOP!" which has so much meaning and dedication behind it. I just didn't feel it the same way in the dub. The dub just lacks the real emotion majority of the time.
@@anthonygarcia3922 I wanna respect your opinion, but really?
At this point, i believe everything what inosuke-sama says XD
The shifting organs thing tracks, but him saying that poison doesn't affect him was more bluster than anything else, cause (SPOILERS)
We know from next episode that Inosuke would have died if Nezuko hadn't purged the poison from his system.
@@HaydrogenBombbecause what technically was hurting him was a blood demon art... it's not a normal poison... and he also got stabbed on his chest... there's gonna be a lot of reason for his cause of death if the poison didn't kill him... also he has poison resistance.. not immunity... he's still human...
Uzui really is a god..
God of festivals ✨🎆🎇✨
Plot armor breathing 12th form... Invincibility😀
Just imagine watching the Normies Demon Slayer's reactions. They do the sound at the title card every time. 😄
The way this fight physically shows us the cost of taking out the lowest of the upper rank demons sets up the greatest sense of anticipation for what is to come.
Let’s go through the injuries each character powered through to win this battle
Tanjiro: two broken fingers, a large slash on his shoulder, I guarantee there were numerous broken bones just from getting kicked around by Gyutaro, at one point his lungs damn near COLLAPSED, and getting stabbed through the chin, resulting in getting poisoned
Tengen: poisoned, slashed and stabbed ALL OVER, lost his arm, lost his EYE, bro got absolutely fucking ripped apart
Zenitsu: broken legs…yep that’s it
Inosuke: impaled from behind and poisoned, nearly got stabbed through the heart but he managed to avoid that by shifting the arrangement of his internal organs and managed to SOMEWHAT resist the poison due to his childhood on a harsh mountain
All this, couldn’t make any of them stop fighting to the very end
"NUT" lmao
Saw this and the next ep and the 1st ep of season 3 in xtreme screen cinema, they turned the sound up soo high I was hearing soo much more of the music and chanting then ever.
Was Fantastic. super dizzy with the infinity castle intro trip.
This is how you animate fast paced action. Maximum Fluidity with clear definition of what is happening and no details lost. Mappa & Jjk animators should have taken notes
Had they actual time they would Do probably better.
Please do your research on the hell mappa is putting on their jjk animators. I won’t go into too much detail but they barely have time to go home bc of mappa’s lack of time management and love for money.
Jjk fights much better than this, stop the cap
@@alfredososa3059🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

@@alfredososa3059I watched JJK and I will completely disagree with you. ufotable dominates every other company for it's animation.

感動しました。
16:15 ABSOLUTELY FLASHY 😂😂
Anime is one of the few things where the explanation for surviving being poisoned is "he used his muscles to stop his heart" and everyone is totally accepting of that answer lol
Kenny: If he turns into a demon...wonder if that's ever gonna happen
*chokes on water*
いつも素敵な配信ありがとうございます😊
Tengen is so underrated(( that was best fight in anime
The English voice actor for Gyutaro was actually VERY GOOD
I split between dub/sub on Demon Slayer when watching, but this episode specifically I always rewatch in dub, the VA’s killed it
20:10 When you run a marathon and end up coming first.
Cant wait for you guys to get to Frieren. It has an amazing dub cast.
Got me season 2 entertainment district arc had the best animation and humour
Demons can still use their powers until they disintegrate, saw it in season 1 w/the arrow demon; now imagine a upper rank starting his power before his head is actually taken off. Voice acting is really good w/dub, but the original voice actors are better, but for a show based so much on the animation/art eng sub is a must at least 1 watch through, definitely worth your time to go back and listen to the sub
Cant wait for peak tomorrow
The Editor sneaking in one of the most insane story spoilers is a bit nutty.
(At 16:53) No… The cut on the left side of his eye was deep. So his left eye was gouged out.
Thanks a lot for your great reactions...this ep be epic, last scene been perfect in my opinion.🤩😆
Preview alone proves that Nezuko >> Upper Six, to yall who keep saying she's weaker than Lower 1
eugh this episode broke me!!!! im so glad you guys are enjoing this show. I have a theory about tanjiro's broken fingers, to me that seemed like the nod to deku in my hero. there was something about the way it was animated remided me of that. if anyone can confirm or deny this i would appreciate it
21:20 yep, and we have to wait AN ENTIRE WEEK to see what happens next... That really sucked!
Before Gyutaro gets beheaded, he said he needed to release his blood demon art, the circular slashes. But shortly after, gets beheaded. I’m thinking when he was getting ready to use it, he gets beheaded but his body continues getting ready. And maybe because he can’t control it anymore due to the beheading, it goes out of control to release this massive blast instead.
Best episode, it’s so hype 😤😤
Im sorry I’m giggling at gyutaros laugh
please rewatch this in sub on your own time, it’s so good
You thought this season ending was such an endgame, wait to you’ll see what season 3 has to offer honestly. Plus Montana is glowing without even trying honestly.
first time i see eng. ver. GG!
That was an experience.
I love this episode but man, I kinda hate how everyone just survived that miraculously
There’s only one person that can save them next episode.
See inosuke can follow up zenitsu god-like speed 😂
Seriously, I DARE you sub elitists to bad mouth the voice-acting in this episode.
this episode is so tpo tier even the dub for it is phenomenal
Dub was good but sub was better
There in the comment section whining, all you gotta do is ignore them
