  • This bike is amazing! astonishing, flawless in so many ways. hard to criticise,
great power, great gear box, great looks, great colour, great sound, great engine, I would 100% recommend it to anyone looking for a great, fast, reliable sports tourer bike. If i was to go do a big road trip, I would stick on some panniers and maybe some heated grips and go for an amazing trip, no problem
    but ....my criticism is ...pathetic.

My mid-life crisis has taken me though 9 new bikes in 3 years, from the GS 1250 to Aprilia Tuono, to the Triumph Tiger 900 and the smaller Trident and now, the Livewire One. I pretty much connect instantly. At the end of the day, no one bike is perfect but as others say, it's all about how it makes you feel when you get on and go out for a ride. The GSX engine sound is sweet!

I been through 4 bikes in 3 years and I ended on finding two I really enjoy. An W800 which I didn’t think I would enjoy but wow is it such an fun little raw bike with an fun 360 crank and an GSX-8S which is nowhere as powerful as my MT-09 but an well balanced bike that reminds me of my MT-07 but with the tech from the MT-09 and I love it! I think I can finally slow down on any more bike’s in the future but the GSX-S1000 GX would be an amazing bike for me to check out in the future. :)

I can top you all. I passed in June last year. To date, I'm now on my 7th bike.

      MT07
      900R
      900XR
      1250GS
      XSR900 - Current.
      The XSR900 is staying.
Will be buying a slightly used Suzuki GT to alongside it. More touring and comfort focused.
Yes, it's not perfect. Things I'll immediately upgrade for me...
      Brake pads.
      Tyres - Road 6's.
Upgraded rear shock. I'm probably looking at £800 all in. A used GT is around 8-9K!! To get it where you want, that's 9-10k. My 1250GSA was 16k!!!!!! Glad I sold it after 3 weeks lol.

Just because a bike has no flaws doesn't mean it is the perfect bike, so spot on with your comments. Surely it is largely about:
How it looks, and how it makes you feel. Otherwise everyone would ride a poxy GS.

Those personality things become MAJOR annoyances the more time you spend on the bike, particularly on long rides. That's when a "tool" becomes a beloved. It's like relationships. The animated, funny, stimulating ones become clinically crazy and you just want out! I have an '18 V-Strom 1K that has been carefully updated/upgraded. The personality traits that are inherent in v-twins and the physical configuration, the location of the key...I could go on and on. It's all good now around town with great tires, springs, ECU flash, full header, heated grips...I could go on and on. But by the time I came back from my last 1200-mile trip, I even had a hard time just looking at it! It won. I got beat. Because I put miles on all my bikes and keep them for a bit, I'd MUCH rather have that more reliable, even-handed, quietly powerful, smart, less-bothersome partner. You really shouldn't marry crazy, though it IS fun for a while. Until it isn't.

First of all, you are still a new rider. Nothing against you for that, but your experience is admittedly limited. The way that a bike like this becomes "YOURS".. is for you to LIVE on it for a long time. If you toured for an entire summer through Europe or the US, guaranteed that you'd return glowing about this bike's "character", and you'd probably have given it some soppy girl's name by then.

I have been riding on the street for 37 years and owned 14 street bikes. Most of them have not been perfect. My gsxs1000 GT is my absolute favorite bike. I will take a beautiful, fast, good handling, reliable, bike with no quirks over something with issues any time. I have taken mine to 150mph (speedo) with my lunch in the bags. Take to 150 and see how stable it is. If your heart doesn't instantly fall in love with it them buy a Royle Enfield and you can sit at the pub and bitch about how crappy your bike is (sorry I know RE bike are much better that they were in the past please don't hate me just an attempt at being funny).

I bought mine new. I was looking forward to returning to the adrenaline and handling of a sport bike while still being able to take longer rides. I agree with virtually everything you said in the video. It’s just to good and that makes it a little boring. It’s so smooth I feel like I could throw a beginner on it and they’d be fine. I’m hoping adding an exhaust and a tune will give it some of the character of my old gsxr.

yep, looking back at it, I was able to get this bike up to 110mph with almost no effort. or huge excitement.
which is good in that it is a very stable, smooth, confident bike.
but loses some of the fun factor compared to others,
maybe a loud pipe is what it needs to bring some passion into going fast on it.

Having 2006 Yamaha FZ1 as a daily commuter/ weekend bluster, with almost 96000kms on it and no major issues I am still, naturally, planning on upgrading. The logic choice would be MT-10 except that I hate the sound of the crossplane. It's just wrong. Purposely set out of whack so the racer can modulate the throttle before loosing the rear grip. With ABS standard, crossplane for the street becomes a goofy clown. So, that's why I am looking into this bike. Very similar to mine with the benefits of all the modern electronic aids. The biggest turn off on the Suzuki GSX-S for me is the chunky exhaust system underneath the bike. Good luck fitting an aftermarket centre stand. That is all. Other than that I can't fault it.

We can’t test ride these where I live. Can anyone tell me the wind comparison at highway speeds between this and a sport bike?
I had a GSX-R 750 where wind was a non-issue. A few years ago I got a GSX-S 750 and while I love the bike the wind on the highway at about 70+ mph is no fun. So I want another fairing bike.
Is this about the same as the GSX-R? Or no? I’m not sure if the more upright position is a contributing factor to make it worse or if the windscreen and fairing makes it about the same as the GSX-R. If it’s relatively the same this may make more sense due to the easier riding position for both myself and my girlfriend.

Had this bike for some 6 months now - it has it's flaws. It runs hot, had to change the seat as it was too hard, back seat is too high for a large sized pillion, the wind is too much sometimes and the screen is non-adjustable, QS can sometimes not go up in lower revs or hit N between 1st and 2nd, changed the rear suspension to K-tech and the handling became better. BUT that engine is just so so so amazing. Also looks so good. I love mine, sad you couldn't connect with yours. The new GX is out too for touring, that might be fun too.

As they say, to each their own. I’ll develop an attachment to inanimate objects but not assign that type of thing to them.
Either way looks like a great bike that I’m highly considering. I’ll just disregard the personality negative. 😊
Out of curiosity do you know how the wind buffeting compares to a sport bike on the highway?
Sport bikes are fine. My naked bike is not. I’m tempted to get this but we can’t test ride them. I’d assume it’s similar to the sport bike but I don’t know if maybe the riding position makes it worse. If it has semi-serious wind buffeting I’d rather get another sport bike. @amoore2165 8 місяців тому

@@midlife-crysis Nope. Never named a bike and don’t want to either. 🤷‍♂️ I’m sad when I sell them though and thank them for being good.
I’m not concerned about the hunkering down part. I’m concerned about the normal casual riding part. My naked bike is ok if I’m going really fast because my body position is more aggressive and I’m braced. But you can’t ride like that all the time (plus you look silky if you’re not actually going that fast) and as soon as I let up and sit up I feel like I’m in a hurricane and the wind is maybe going to rip me off the bike.
My sport bikes the wind was a non-issue because in a normal position it was a smooth wind, rather than buffeting all over the place, plus you’re naturally leaning more forward in to the wind which probably helps.
Maybe somebody will have a used one or something similar I can try one day. I don’t want to buy it only to find it’s not satisfying my issue.
