Bought my first Harley from their previous showroom in 2016. Its been tough competition with West Coast in Scotland I imagine.

H-D a finance company that happens to make motorcycles. Recently looked to have a bike trac installed on new bike, quoted £250 more than another dealer/installer. Good riddance is my view.

I got this email too but it only indicates that the Eastern Western Group will be concluding its franchise with HD. It doesn't state anything about completely closing down or not selling other brands e.g. Kawasaki. EHD has gone through quite a change in the last 5 years and the writing has been on the wall for sometime. Changes started with reducing the size of the bike sales section and increasing the area for clothes and merchandise sales. The area for servicing bikes probably tripled in size and this coincided with an increase in labour costs for any service/ repair work. Probably due to the fact that bike sales were suffering and they could also see an opportunity to make easy money on the servicing side of the business. Last time I had my bike in for work, I wasnt happy with some aspects of the transaction and complained, we eventually agreed on a way to resolve the issue but it took me 5 months of calling and sending emails to sort things out. After that I decided I wouldn't be going back as I felt that the customer services was not acceptable. I think most folk will go to West Coast Harley now and from what I can see that business is thriving. Scotland is big geographically but customer wise, I dont think it needs two HD dealers. The Dunedin chapterv of HOG will probably continue as why would they need EHD to do so. Finally , the prices of these bikes are becoming prohibitive for new riders or even older riders. 10k to 45k to spend on a toy that can only be used for a portion of the year (if you dont want to be destroyed by salt and grit) in Scotland.

A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing. The Chapter is not closing, and Thunder in the glens is going ahead, get your facts correct before you start spouting rubbish.

Dunedin is the old/ancient name for EDINBURGH ! (not Dundee & Edinburgh !!!) Dunedin Chapter will still continue as a stand alone chapter of HOG (Harley Owners Group) it has the membership and the members based management structure. Thunder In The Glens is fully organised administered, run and staffed by the chapter to continue as before. I think you need to consolidate and fact check your information and be fully informed before publishing these poor inaccuracies.🤬🤬🤬

I live in Wiltshire 2 of the local Harley dealers have closed down I know of 10 other dealers that have closed. Alson one of our Triumph and Jap brands have closed aswell

Please educate yourself before posting videos because you're giving out false information. Dunedin (old name for ediniburgh btw) Chapter will keep rolling and Thunder in the Glen's is definitely on. Might be worth a quick video to your followers to explain this, losing the dealership doesn't mean the end of either of those things.

Harley is on its knees in the UK. Dealers closing all over the place. Even Americans are not happy with the brand. There is even a guy making videos of him blowing up harleys. When they dropped the sportster they priced a whole generation out of the market too. New CEO has a lot to answer for. Lack of sales and massive hiked bike prices could even spill over and close Glasgow dealer. Looks like Harley and Thunder's future is grim.

I loved going there, it's also where I got my CBT. So sad I were never able to get a bike from there. That's so sad :(

Dunedin is not a combination of Dundee and Edinburgh, it’s the old Scottish word for Edinburgh as we are an Edinburgh based chapter. Also the Chapter is able to continue after the dealership closes. Feels like a massively negative and unhelpful video if I’m being totally honest, not really sure the point of it.

PCP has killed everything, people buying stuff they could never afford, increasing interest rates as well, if you have say 8k buy an 8k bike, fur coats and no knickers has never been a great combination

HD's business model is killing the UK dealer network, enforced stock holding of models being a prime example. If Trump starts a tariff war then HD will be gone because the're already overpriced as it is.

To be honest, HD have been out of touch with reality for years. Hope the employees find new jobs quickly.

Sad news , I literally drove past my local HD branch to go to EHD to buy my iron 883 seven years ago. The market is on its arse well and truly .several other HD big dealer names down South gone recently too..

HD price is now well in the luxury bracket, economy is now on its knees, disposable income just not there.

maybe if they made more reliable bikes, and didn't fleece us with service charges people would be more willing to buy a harley, its kawasaki i feel sorry for.

Brilliant run and looked/sounded like you had a lot of fun. I’m north of Grantown-on-Spey so know those roads well. The run through Glenshee is spectacular. At 47:00 straight on goes to Grantown and the turn you took takes you to Nethy Bridge. Worth checking out Castle Roy and a gentle ride around Loch Garten next time. Can’t wait for sunshine and dry roads. 😢😂

When I started riding in the 70’s I commuted to Edinburgh in all weather including snow and ice at one time had a race prepared RD400 that had absolutely nothing below 3500 revs not good on slippery roads especially at that rpm it would take off. The gear then was terrible cold wet no comfort. I recall the worst day coming out from Arthur Seat where I’d cut through deep slushy snow and very heavy sleet in the dark with rubbish lights and lots of traffic. I still ride in winter but not to work (retired now) so pick my days carefully.

I tested 4 of them and one of the dealers let me have one for about 2 hours. 3 things that really annoyed me. 1- really needs an adjustable wind screen. It’s a sports touring do Kawasaki hit that one right. 2- only noticed this because being fall it gets dark around 6:00. The head light is very poor. You have to use the high beam At night . So Kawai again hit that one correct. 3-I am just a casual ruder no track days just spirited riding. It almost feels like something wrong with the brakes, not smooth you squeeze hard to get them to do anything 4- since I had the bike long enough I would definitely upgrade seat. After a while the is too soft and does not retain support on long rides., I thought it was just me, but several reviews brought that up. I am going to try the Kawasaki again, , I plan on a sports touring in the spring . I was told take a look at the Yamaha FJR 1300, has not been updated in a while, but not a price range I want to be at.

Well this isn't anything particularly new. Throughout the 80s and 90s, Motorcycle City / Carnell were a huge national chain of multi franchise dealerships, who went under in 2002. Exactly 10 years later, another equally as massive concern, George White went the same way and boy will I remember the day they closed their doors. My local branch had my bike in for warranty work and getting it back was like getting water out of a stone. So this seems to happen every 10 years or so and every time the same people spout the same theories. "Ageing demographic, no young riders, bikes too expensive, too difficult for new riders to get licences", blah blah blah. I've been hearing that all through the 43 years I've been riding. Younger riders don't look at things from a historical perspective. The motorcycle industry has always been like this. Peaks and troughs. When we see the actual manufacturers ceasing production then there'll be cause for concern. Yes Harley Davidson are struggling but that has more to do with evolving trends than no-one out there to buy bikes. The market is simply resetting itself as has happened many times in the past, so no need for the Doom and Gloom. What's happening now isn't anything that hasn't happened before. Oh and fun fact. According to the MCIA. 67,511 people took their Module 2 motorcycle test between April 2021 and March 2022, which the British Motorcyclists Federation (BMF) reports is over 2000 up on the previous record set in 2012-13.

Loads of dealerships have folded up and down the UK, with more to follow once the new NI for business bites ..... predicted this would happen eventually, you cant keep screwing people with overpriced crap and pcp bs
