  • What's up everyone! We've been busy on DALE30!
And a valuable lesson was learnt! CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN the motor and parts before re-assembling, After thinking I had a bad lifter it turned out to be WAY worse!
I have been trying to get this all repaired and going in one video but it has taken longer than expected for parts & machining, so I wanted to give you guys an update on the situation!

I overhauled my first ls1 in my 99 z28 back in 2005 Back when LS were very $$$$ It was first time I was had or built anything nice or could afford part's not outta the junkyard. Think i spent almost $1000 on just the fastener's. But anyhow we got her wrapped up and in the car. For 3 days I just ran her easy. Finally me and my brother got maybe mile from home the very first time I tried to get on it the motor went boom. It looked like I never torqued a fuckin thing. Been buyn junkyard motors since lol

I use a pressure washer to blast out the oil journals. Some blocks have plugs and oil passages that change angles. I pull those plugs out and pressure wash from all angles. Good luck with your reassembly and undersized crank!

I ended up doing that this time around! Several times to be sure after soaking the whole block in degreaser!
The motor is all back together and in the car so should be ready to start soon! Hopefully have a video up soon!

I have an ls1 with 140k and i want to keep it forever what did you do to keep it so long without a rebuild? Ive already done a bunch of gaskets, and im going to reseal the entire engine as well. Any other recommendations?

Mine hydrolocked with 55k miles because of dried out intake gaskets and a leaky cowl and I built a HCI 5.3 to save 3000$ lol
