Sykoo please make one for unreal engine 😅
what kind of sytem do you need for this kind of work?
sure! thank you guy!
bro i was wondering if you would be interested in working with a project?
I love this! Thanks for sharing. Can you make cooking games tutorial ?
I love how you don't edit the crap out of your videos and you show your human and make mistakes and have to work things out, this makes me feel I can do it.
Great videos.
new Subscriber.
Thanks man, glad to hear you appreciate it! Yeah I want to promote the fact that I'm not a 'perfect mistake-less level designer and programmer' - I make mistakes too, and I thought leaving them in might motivate some to see that I'm not absolutely perfect :P Glad to hear you point it out! Thanks a lot.
Wtf?
@Ahmed Shahriar its been a year I dont even remember watching this anymore
Nice one! I watched almost the whole thing, I thought I could easily make my forest in unity, but didn't know exactly how to position the different details to make it look realistic, this really helped, thanks!
very good tutorial type vid xD nicely done! Definitely helps me get a better idea on how to make them look as nice as you make yours look.
its really amazing to see people like you giving effort like that to teach level design .. GREAT JOB .. and thanks a lot :D
Thank you for this very detailed tutorial. What a great content. Honestly, I enjoyed your timelapse contents as I'm a beginner in making levels for Unity. I just started to learn game dev last 6 months ago and I hope that you can make an updated and newer tutorial for the newer version of Unity on how to make this kind of levels. Hope to see more full tutorial contents on your page. Love the work man!
I just started learning unity 3 days ago level design is my specialty now when I go outside I appreciate nature even more I even look at the ground grass dirt to see how it is really constructed
Great terrain/forest tutorial! Love your work! 👍🤓🧡
“That’s actually pretty good” for 2 hours
i have been planing on making a video game on unity and i was worried on how hard it was going to be but this makes it look so simple
thank you so much. I've been searching for tutorials like this but all UA-cam gave me was a bunch of lvl design video speed up like crazy, the result was great but I can't learn much from them. Again, thank you!!!!
This is like watching Bob Ross. Very relaxing. You are an artist. Nice work!
This is your first video if i see, and your mah fav youtuber ever. Luv ya bruh ❤😄
Truly speaking the greeeeeeen part of the grass steals the realism of the scene.
wow I love you r design !! finally I found a channel that teaches..in great way
Added the assets to the description! =)
Where is the tool quick bruch I did not find it on Unity Store Is there an alternative
Where is the grass pack
... and tree pack...!
ua-cam.com/video/FLpQ7kmqTwg/v-deo.html I Just Try To Create Like That
Can you give me this map downloading link (which you created)
Who else skipped to the end
lol i did
I was skipping by like 10 minutes just to see how it looks! :D
😹
Although I did
Me too..he takes forever explaining things
thanks for the tips mate... now to start over this level design for the 347.5th time (knocked the pc plug out as i started up unity so i attached it as a .5 because i was ambitious that day)
Hi sykoo, amazing tutorial like always. Please can you do a megascans in unity level design tutorial as there is like none on UA-cam. 😃
ty so much sykoo , i have been playing with large scale maps trying to get a nice thick lush grass , however i failed , you have reminded me of what can be done with quick brush XDD
also love those ground textures , would you happen to have a link for those ?
as a game designer there are some very good tips in here thanks for the advice.
Wow, that was really cool 👍🏻
Fellow milker
I'm still watching the video tutorial, but I'm VERY happy with how this is all looking so far! I'm trying to program a relatively small and easy-to-render world that looks like this in Unity, but it all lags when I try to move around it with a 3D character. I'm assuming to build something like this for a short 3D adventure game, you'd need a high-end laptop/computer, right?
This video is awesome. I liked the way how you designed the level. I want more videos like this. Love you.
#sykoo
If you already bought $2000 worth of assets then I guess doing it takes less than 2 hours. If you do it from scratch then this is thousands of hours worth or work
You can find free assets
Yeah I know. It's so easy and helpful using the assets and if used correctly can make your game look so much better. Assets were really helpful for me and they are so useful
I've made great level designs in under 3 hours...all free assets. Check my insta - unityfanatic - for proof
ua-cam.com/video/FLpQ7kmqTwg/v-deo.html I Just Try To Create Like That
Right. But you really want to at some point go out and create ur own textures/assets....at least retexture them. That's where the time is consuming.
Good video, im trying to play around and learn at the moment so i really appreciate this, if i could add one constructive critisism coming from a teacher, if youre doing a lot of talking its hard to follow the steps and listen so maybe you could say what you are doing/clicking or whatever and i think it'll stop people watching the same bit over and over. Much appreciation for you taking time to do this.
Hey, very nice and comprehensive tutorial! Where did you get the trees from?
Very nice explanation thankyou 🙏🏼🙏🏼👍🏼
Yes new video
Wow . Cool.Awsm!
What I would always start with is a reference character and movement script to get the dimensions and detail resolution right.
💖 Thanks for this! 💗 👏 💗
some of the asset are missing in the asset store. great video, i have been using this video since 2018 till date
Hey sykoo make a video on machenics of character....
That's too important for a better game
great skills, i am planning a village aerial view for my project in maya, i think i can do that with xgen hopefully
did you know coding your own games is easier than you think
DISDSYOUKNWODSADADCODINGYORUWROWDNGAMEISEASIERYOTHANYEETHIKS
STAHP
James E Thevenot fuck off virgin
calm down it was from an ad
@@TheWoosh o really. Wow man I had no idea.
Very Nice Indeed!
Technology is getting so advanced we don't even need to code are video games anymore
great work! 2 questions, What is the LOD2 on the log, like I know what LOD's are but is this new to unity or an addon? Got any tutorials on it? And how did u get the personal copy of unity in dark mode :O oh.. i guess that's 3 questions haha.
You have two trees between the two mountains have long legs, but the type of trees do not have a long leg, they should be similar in legs. thank you for great video.
I love you video "ACTUALLY"
lol @ actually
Make another one of these, It's really good
About an hour i can get a cool conceot goung with Far Cry Arcade and about a week of sessions buildimg and you get a masterpiece, pure eye candy every time, i seldom finding myself having to make significant sacrifices for design choice. If something isnt working usually a minite or two of attention and tweaking will uphold my vision without compromise
Amazing
ma dude you've got a nasty tangent on the left there. (hills/tress) and trees on the farthest away mountain would create a real good sense of scale
looks like Skyrim or oblivion great video
awesome vedio man
nice work
Tree placement should have a auto rotate function to keep them from looking so similar like clones with branches all growing the same to create illusion of difference.
Polybrush is free. And u can paint textures, colours, prefabs, on any surface. Also, u can sculpt with it. So u can make terrain on any surface, on cube, on sphere on plain
Think's for ur work 💖😍
looking good but trees should be different shape/length
Superb
Very nice and helpful Video!!!
Where are the ground-textures from?
I believe everything is from the assets store
Thank you for this video! If you have a few minutes to help me, I was having trouble with the terrain and skydome, I have the free version of unity and it looks like there are not as many options for the terrain. I have a screenshot of how it looks when I pressed "add terrain texture" if that will help solve the problem.
Sir
Can I get tutorial about city designing please reply
do you have any tutorials about character design?
nice video bro
165$ total wow.. don't have a job yet but I use to have that much a while back, wont be able to pay for it but wanting to be working on my project any time soon. Im still new to unity tutorial but wanting to learn how to from the beginning.
I watched it to the end. Thank you for the great content.
My assumption is that the brush makes it possible to plant so so many grass meshes, etc, cause unity by default hide the grass meshes when you increase them in a single patch. How do you manage to fill your terrain with grass so densly?
This one is bugging me too. I've been watching a lot of authors, and it occurs to me that most of them have beastly hardware, and they don't actually profile their environments for lower-end machines or mobile.
A lot of games, like New World and Valheim have some AMAZING setups for grass/trees/terrain that blow my mind how much detail they have... levels of detail which are not achievable with any of the tools I've seen without some seriously over-engineered custom solutions....
Things like building your own ray marching shaders for fog / clouds, and writing multi-threaded compute-shaders for things like grass... seems virtually impossible to get any level of detail working especially when Unity's default terrain system denies LODs for grass.
I wish someone would go into more detail about solutions to solve these kinds of issues instead of just demoing a product they like.
Hello, love your videos!! But from where did you get that post-processing stuff??
Thanks for the vide, this is really inspiring ! Where can we find the same dirt and grass texture / normals you used on this one ?
MegaScans is a good place to get decent ground textures
I like how it has "Create a Forest in UE4 in 1 Hour" next to it for quixel, which looks way sexier :-D
UE4 is super bad though
James E Thevenot haha nice joke
James E Thevenot oh really, r u kidding?
yea, its a joke because I see so many "Unity is terrible" comments, when really both are great engines
as a person who uses both im gonna say neither both are better or worse.
Unity : if you start unity it looks shit with the default settings and everything .. but if used the right shaders and everything it can look really nice and has much more potential to get help from the community. as it is a Coder best friend )
Unreal: Artist loves it coder hates it. Because if you start the engine the default settings makes a crappy artwork looks nice and the guides really helps them out , BUT !!! as soon you start going more advanced in there the engine is a realk pain in the ass. And since most Coder rather use Unity you have it more difficult to find support or good shaders.
Cool!
The mask options that u used to control the details on your stone is included into the asset pack? I mean when i will use a free asset pack with stones and stuff then i may dont have option to for example control moss on the stone?
Good vid!
Damn, u r good!
Yes yes yes ...
Please make a more complex tutorial video
If got all the assets It's probably like making a Minecraft map
Exactly, thats why i usually hate this kind of videos "speed level desing" shit, wich usually wont involve any actual true level desing and are more like shit painting on a terrain stuff. The harder part of doing that funny painting is the modeling and texturing the models, the actual painting of elements on a terrain or a level shape is actually just time consuming but almost 0 effort involved in it. Any dumb can grab a good amount of nature packages from asset store or anywhere else, and start painting models on a terrain and they will look gorgeous ¿but thats actually level desing? No, thats just painting on a terrain. And worse than anything they dont even tells you what asset pack where used, so they look more profesional, garbaje.
Not really. Modelling a tree isnt hard nor time consuming. So when it comes to environment its always like minecraft because your only modelling the reference and then painting the rest. And I'm assuming your'e not talking about modelling and placing each and every single grass of your scene
nice oneeee
Thanks that was really helpful! Keep it up!
Is this asset royalty free after you buy it, I mean like when you launch your end product for commercial use?
Sam? Check out "Vegetation Studio" on the asset store!
if you want caves or overhangs then you can't use the terrain system, is there a different way to add grass ?
Why is this tutorial so fucking great?
What assets does one need to get to follow this tutorial and where do you get them? You cannot really do anything if you don't have the same assets as available in the tutorial.
Nice
does that look so good in VR (rift) as well?
Really anyone can make better than that in blender, but In Unity it's hard to create a simple forest scene i appreciate you.
I have a question what If I created this type of level design and I just want to commit to sourcetree to other partner for coding etc, What will be the process ? Do I have to create Prefab of this level and then commit and push ?
Is it possible to paint the terrain with an albedo, a normal map + a roughness map??
very thanks
Hello Sir I really like your videos, I daily pray to God for your well being, you are a great teacher, I have watched all of your videos, I really appreciate your hard work.
I have a request, can you please make a series on making complete FPS game step by step If you make this series I will be really thankful to you and that series will be of great help for all the beginners like myself.
I can't find Quick Brush, or that Grass Prefab Placement asset. I have the terrain texture done, how on earth do I "paint grass" now?
great job. i was looking for a suggestion and i would really appreciate it.the thing is I just completed my bachelor's in computer science and had subjects like c and c++ but only basics of it. i really wanna go for game development. but do you think I should go for masters degree or just go for game dev. i mean is it neccessary?
It depends on what you wanna do and your experience. If you never worked with a game engine like Unity or Unreal it could get a bit difficult.
It also depends on where you wanna work: Work in a company or run your own business. You should also have some knowledge about business economics/ admin.
There are 2 main areas in game dev: Programming and Art. If you're not very good at programming I assume that you will focus on the more artistic side with 3D modeling, texturing, animation, UI, UX, Level Design, Character design, VFX, Rendering in general.
The "3rd" area would be the business economics/ admin. part.
You should also know that game dev. comapnies are not the only companies that use game engines! Many manufacturers of all sorts of things are now offering jobs in "real time visualization of their products" basicly. There are also agencies that do that for companies who don't have their own department for that :^)
About master: The master degree is a two-sided coin. On the one hand you probably will earn more and specialize in one area (good if you have already a dream job in your head), but on the other hand you will "loose" jobs that focus in other areas, because you narrow down your options.
My plan btw, is to make my beachlor, find a good job and if the company supports or suggests me to make the master, I will. If not, I won't!
Your first priority should be to find your first solid job. After that you can do whatever you want. Collect working experience (very important), switch the company if you don't like it, add your master, etc. (Some even offer doing the master while working).
Hope that helps! :D
masters degree is not required unless you want to go full blown hardcore programming
I planted forest in my unity engine program but trees never grow? What should I do?
Hi. How to view the texture component in unity 5 for adding to terrain.
I have a random question.
i wanna make a 3d animated short movie.
Can i create the sceneries in Unity, then import as a obj into after effects using element 3d?
What layout is that?
Also, on my load of the video, I cannot see the assets
Edit: Can see the assets now
Hi, I was wondering if you could revisit the anti-aliasing part of this as the MadGoat SSAA asset has been removing from the asset store. Thanks!
Can we do the same for mobile device? Want to know how can we make good graphics with limited resources. Thanks.
ماشاء الله
Oh my god nice my bor
Great tutorial, but I don't really think this workflow would work for a game at all. In most games the player/camera actually moves around and you are using the perspective to make it look good from one angle. Don't get this wrong, but some people might struggle when making an actual game level design, because it involves bit more than this.
Agreed, this workflow is more like a diorama rather than anything you would use in level design, due to the fact, as you point out, the view is from a static position.
I understand you completely, but what Sykoo tries to teach us is how we should create an environment. He teaches us things we might not know or where we should think about. Take a little example about using different types of grass with different colors that compare with eachother. I can tell you that I have learned a lot of skills by watching tutorials like this. I have created levels that look amazing only by learning by tuts like this
Hello great video . Is possible to make a video which show How to install Unity 3D on linux mint 19.1 ?? Thanks
Please make a video how to create mini map and big map for 3d game like GTA
Thanks
where can i get the brush grasses that you use ?
Can it be rendered and run in mobile smoothly ? I want a forest For my mobile game, is this gonna workout for me? Please answer me
Please make a series on making a real game with scripting and multiple levels and exporting to apk
where did you get the dirt texture?
i already got a cool skybox from flooded grounds and a platform. How do i get the dirt texture, and is it a paid asset?
This is a good tutorial, but it's slightly frustrating that it's so dependent on paid assets. Obviously it can always be made better, but I think it still would have looked good using terrain for the grass, and not using so many paid assets.
