The minigun is the M134, chambered in 7.62mm NATO with a rate of fire at between 2,000 to 6,000 rpm. Personally, give me either M240B (also 7.62mm) with plenty of ammo and barrels to swap, or give me a good ol' "death by dial-up" Mk. 19 and plenty of 40mm rounds. Mix in a few of those 40mm rounds that had buckshot in them instead of HEDP for any close-in work that needs to be done.

The gun you're talking about bringing in helms deep is the M134, specifically. Its for rate at low setting is *2k rounds per minute* , while its high setting is *6k per minute* . That's 100 bullets A SECOND

A minigun would be completely impractical at Helm's Deep for 2 reasons.
Those barrels, while not being shot as often, will need to be cooled down eventually. And, how will it be powered?
So to you I propose a Maxim Gun (or one of it's many international copies), or the Maxim 37mm.
The former is your standard WW1 machine gun. Reliable as hell, just needs some water every so often, fires from 250 round belts. The 37mm on the other hand is just a big boy maxim firing 2 pound (or thereabout) projectiles in a nice, slow, manageable fire rate, with enough size to put explosives in. Pretty much perfect against a bunch of clustered orcs.

The issue with a M-30 machine gun is the firing rate… while yes you can fire a crap ton of rounds the problem is the barrel…. The barrel will overheat within 15-20 seconds and risk cooking off rounds causing a catastrophic failure of the weapon…..
There's no M30 machine gun, unless you're referring to the pre-WW2 German MG30, they're thinking of the M-134.
While the minigun has a high rate of fire, the fact that it is a rotary 6 barrel firing system means that each barrel individually only fires once every 6th round reducing overheating compared to a single barrel weapon.
Yes, it will eventually overheating but it would be laying down a lot of sustained fire before that happened.

The Western coalition of nations responding to the Boxer Rebellion did include the British, French, Germans, Russians, and the US. It also included Italy, Austria-Hungary (for some reason), and Japan. It had support from Belgium, the Dutch, and Spain.
With Helm's Deep, the number is not specified but it is over 10,000 Uruk-Hai. Because Saruman says "Tens of thousands". Which, the fight lasted for a long time. You had Yeoman Archers, Footsoldiers, Galadhrim aka Elven Warriors (only in the movies), and Eorlingas/Rohirrim (Rohan Calvary). And even after all that, at least in the movies because it's been a few years since I read the books, there were hundreds if not thousands that ran towards the treeline and were killed by Ents. The battle lasted like 18 hours straight too. So, There were at least 2,000 Defenders before reinforcements and Ents that fought from evening to sunrise. So, definitely more than 10,000 Uruk-Hai.
A mini-gun would not do as much damage as you would think. Realistically (i know that's not the point), you probably wouldn't actually kill much. Because, if you do your research, most armor-piercing ammunition actually shatters against Iron Plate and Steel Plate. In fact, many people have tested these theories to see how strong guns are if used during the Medieval era (as well as other ones too). And very rarely do bullets, even armor-piercing ones, actually go through plate armor. It takes about a dozen from a .50-caliber sniper rifle to pierce plate armor. So, your minigun wouldn't actually do a whole lot of damage, and it' noise, epecially on a stone wall, would probably deafen you and everyone around you, which would mean you're hurting yourself and allies more than the enemy lol. Also, in the fantasy universe of Middle Earth, Saruman's armor was incredibly stronger than most of Mordor's armor. The Nazgul armor was probably stronger. So, it is to be expected that Uruk-Hai armor would be stronger than a typical Bronze Plate or Steel Plate armor.
Personally, to answer your question, I would bring a Grenade Launcher. I don't know names of guns, but I feel like the shrapnel would have a higher chance of wounding or killing multiple Uruk-Hai than a minigun would.

@@mjpraetorian4386 Yeah, I can try and look it up or you can, but there's a channel here on YT that shoots AP rounds into plate armour and the bullets actually shatter against it. They creates large dents, which could theoretically cause internal bleeding, or if someone was using a .50 cal Rifle and hit the exact same spot like 5+ times, it might go through. But yeah, it's really interesting! That's why the world still uses steel for airforce and navies globally. Because it's incredibly strong.

Incidentally, its easy to forget that "marine with a machine gun" isnt talking about an M30, or 50-cal Browning like from a B17, or an M16, etc, with 50 cal or 7.62 ammo, etc... its 1899 era machine gun, very early.
How many guys charging headlong with no fear would it take before they get there before they can all be mowed down? The possibility of Daly getting overwhelmed, especially after the machine gun runs out of ammo temporarily, was VERY real.
I.e., it wouldn't be a badass story if Daly could just mow them down like the Terminator from Terminator 2.
Steve Mcqueen stared in a movie called the Sand Pebbles about the boxer rebelion a really good movie.
It’s great video and great basic overview of it all, he did get a few things wrong, or glossed over them, boxer rebellion, Sgt Maj Daly wasn’t alone, there were multiple other machine gun teams there, the boxers had more than a few forearms. Most of them were muzzle loaders or a some single shot bolt guns, still black powder cartridge. Almost the other teams were knocked out. Either due to injuries, some deaths, out of ammo, stiff like that, his gun was the last one up, hence all the surviving boxers that still wanted to fight now swarmed him, and he held them off, killing most of the ones who attacked, the rest left. The Haiti one, yes he did go get the machine gun, but he made a sled and drug it all back most of the way. Until he make a backpack type deal and carry it the last bit of distance, I’m a Marine. I’m not trying to take anything away from him, the actual facts make it even more impressive, cause it’s not just fighting and bad ass shit, shows he’s smart and resourceful too. For WWI, the main part of the law that could only earn one Medal of Honor, was mostly due to the fact, that until then. The army had one type of Medal of Honor and the Navy had their own version. There was multiple occasions of men being put for the army’s and the navy’s version for the same actions in the same battle or series of battles, some even getting one of each type for the same thing. So that law, did away with the separate versions, and standardized it to the one we know now, that’s part of the reason he didn’t get the third. Along with the political games and bs. Also after that first night of fighting in the hoxer rebellion, the 1200 Marines repelled multiple attacks of up to an estimated 55,000 rebels, not all boxers of course. Before it was over. They regularly got into hand to hand/bayonet fighting during that whole ordeal. And some other minor things here and there, oh yeah. He was 26 when he enlisted, not 16, overall true though, just missed things here and there.

You mentioned the Opium Wars contributing to the hatred of Western influence in China leading up to the Boxer Rebellion, but one of the worst things to come out of that (and the biggest reason why Christians and Western Missionaries were targeted so violently) was in the treaty that ended the Opium Wars.
Basically, the French issued their own demands to China, and in typical fashion for any peace deal France has ever had a say in (looking at you, Versailles) it included ridiculous provisions that pretty much guaranteed conflict down the line. The most problematic one is that, in order to stop any interference with Western Missionaries - and any persecution of Chinese Christians - the French demanded that the Imperial Chinese government make Christians exempt from prosecution for any crime. So practically overnight, the predictable thing happened and every two-bit rapist, bandit gang, murderer, slaver cartel and drug lord in China publicly converted to Christianity and became instantly above the law. So for most ordinary Chinese people at the time, it was just an obvious fact of life that Christianity was a religion of pure evil that was corrupting and destroying everything good about their country, because the only "Christians" most Chinese people ever saw were the worst kinds of criminal scum.
Not only did this lead to Christians and Missionaries being targeted with a special kind of vitriol during the Boxer Rebellion, it also enshrined a hatred and distrust of Christianity in mainstream Chinese culture that endures to this day, largely because the CCP keeps periodically stoking that old prejudice whenever it is politically convenient.

The game series Medal of Honor may be past its prime but Pacific assault is still my favorite. Not many ww2 games focused on the pacific and even gave us a pearl harbor level. I got so tired of the western front.
