The WT community only has themselves to blame. They showed gaijin they were more than willing to pay $70 for average aircraft after putting in less than 10 hours into the game
@@the_undisputed_king_5395 And you can bet 99% of them are going to base bomb when they get slammed by Su-27s and Mig-29s. It'll be so stupid to see this jet fill entire matches, just imagine a jet that had a production number of 3 outnumber aircraft made in the hundreds and thousands. Complete bogus they let this happen, 12.0 is ruined.

To be honest, I much prefer the videos with the history at the start of the video. This style with the history at the end feels kinda soulless, this one especially.
I do too, but the viewer retention is *dramatically* higher with it later in the vid (you may draw your own conclusions as to why, etc) which unfortunately directly impacts the reach of the video.
@@TimsVariety yeah I can definitely see why this would have higher retention. I mainly show up for the history but I also enjoy your gameplay and other relevant info enough to keep watching even after the history segments
Us ethe chaoters to jump to the history part and then when it's over you can jump to the beginning of the video again. Doesn't make it like a dedicated history first video but still better than nothing imo :D

Yea the lack of HMD does feels that its holding me back in top battles, specially on the F-15A.
Great balanced review and loved the newn formate rally cleaned up the peice and the begnner top teir tips are nice and was said in a nice tone... As for me if it was under $30 I would buy it ASAP as a could use a rank 12 grinder in the US air tree... But I don't have the budget for it right now at $75... Which I will also buy it on a 50% discount too but we'll see when the snail does another one and if this jet is on the list... Kinda sad really that the sanil does not understand what Lego does that having your stuff be assets and cheap can get you insane profit like it did for lego last year with sub $100 sets... Also I wonder why event vehicles can etheir be sold/bought/hordered or used like even if you can't cash out why not make it so you can sell into snail slime if you want to like eve online or well legos?

I've been wanting to see this plane in the game for years. I had a hunch it was going to be the perfect premium for top tier. Obviously glad to see it in the game but I think 75 is just too much, still great to see the tiger shark next to what it was supposed to be competing against, the f-16, in game.
never played modern planes or tanks yet, i test drove it and sniped a mig from 4 kms away and i instantly bought it because its just fun to fly
This is likely the last Premium I will buy for War Thunder. It’s one of the last planes I really wanted to see and knowing that it wasn’t going to be a tech tree or an event ( it would have been a great event vehicle btw!) I sprung for it. So far, I am not disappointed. I really wish they had brought this out when I still had American planes to unlock, but it will be ready when I do. Until then, it will be my fun hot rod.

So I bit the bullet and bought the F20 lol my first game i pretty much came and cleaned house lol my load out was 5 aim-9Ls and a sparrow. It felt like and F5 but on steroids and since the F5 is my best plane, it made sense that I did as well as I did. However, I will say that the players hadn’t quite gotten use to fighting the F-20 either
I just found one of these things on the enemy team, and it was so sad. Dude couldn't hit me with anything and I barely used any countermeasures. $75 to lose a fight against an F-5E with no ammo. 😢
Cockpit is beautiful but it's not worth it. Also, I still remember that shooting range video when they said "we will never add top tier jet premiums" im 99% positive that video is still up. Either way the F20 is beautiful and more people will buy it to strictly bomb with it. Also another Abrams is surprising but more freedom is good. Finally, it was only a matter of time before they added a T80 premium. Since the Click-Bait came I KNEW a T80 premium would come and here it is. Don't be surprised if a Leo 2A5 comes soon too

i bought this thing, even with the 70 dollar price tag it was honestly an amazing investment for me, 300k silver lions within a day and got from 2.0 to 4.0 in 2 days as well, its not an f16 or an f15, but its worthit imo
this should have been a squadron vehicle at the very least, a top tier premium that costs more than a triple a game is insanity
Tim, I know you are feeling like you have to change the way your videos work to increase views but having the history at the start felt like a much smoother transition and allowed me to relate aspects about the performance of the tank/aircraft to it's design, now I find myself skipping all about the video and it just leaves my head in a bit of a spiral if I try to watch it normally because I have no idea what the vehicle even is before I'm being told how it performs. Often I won't even go back to the start because I end up getting the history and the conclusion by skipping to the end anyway and let's face it, I'm never gonna be able to fly most of them without grinding for the next 5 years, not sure if that's why your retention data is up but might be something to consider. In any case, thanks for the review.
Is there a review on the MIG-19PT? I don't know if it's worth getting and reddit can't seem to make up it's mind if it's good or bad at its BR
Not yet - I've been meaning to review it for a while now, but every time I sit down to do so, the snail gives us new stuff that bumps to the top of the list.
In short though - its pretty good,
why wasn't the AIM-9P or P-4 added? it's more historical frankly and we should at least have the option to run them.
This plane was tested in the early 80s, by then the AIM-9L was the main missile in service with the USAF, and even the AIM-9M was starting to appear. I guess that was Gaijin's reasoning behind this, despite being no pictures of this thing with Ls or Ms. They gave the Thai F-5E AIM-9P4s, I guess you're right on that one...
Man I wish more standard aviation measurements were the norm for people to talking about in Warthunder. I don’t care about kph, mph, or meters. We want knots and feet.😂
My plane flies at 2500 boatlengths to the candle, and thats how I like it!

I'm stuck between this, f5c and f4S. I want the f4s becuase it sits right at my us ground lineup and bombing computer. F5c becuase I heard it's performance is great for its BR. And I want the f20a becuase it's fast af and has TV missiles, and can use a TV missile to kill someone sitting on airfield.
Everyday I think about it my mind changes.
Just make sure to test-drive the hell out of all 3 before you make up your mind. If you're spending real money on a premium, you want to be REALLY sure you're comfortable with its performance etc etc.

It really feels like a F5C / F5E with slightly better speed/guns/missiles.... I kinda like the feel of flying the F 5C/E. But let's face it the F 20 Is just an average top tier plane.

How this plane didn't make it remains one of the strangest outcomes in aviation. It had so many good features and aspects, its amazing that it got killed off.
It's a victim of falcon. The f-16 could do what the tigershark did and even more.
@@Maple_Cadian Sadly this isn't true now, or then. The claim that it was in competition vs F16 is also pretty flawed.
All of NATO lost out in not getting a low cost, cheap to operate, effective aircraft. And frankly, we're still paying across NATO for that failure.
@@AdmV0rl0n it was in competition with the Falcon tho... It was just the gimped F-16/79 (the unholy marriage of an F-16 with a P&W J79). The F-20 was arguably better than the 16/79 (especially the fact that it could use long range missiles and ATG munitions versus even the full fat early F-16s), but GD could play the politics game better, and iterative updates on the Falcon evened the playing field to the point where it was better to buy a more expensive, but proven and widely adopted F-16 vs a cheaper but unproven aircraft (it was a based on the F-5 as we know, but you couldn't fly or treat it the same as an F-5) and we all know the rest.

@@HarrDarr the F-20 wasn't _made_ for the USAF, it was made for foreign sales, it literally only came into being because US allies wanted more modern light fighters or F-16s but couldn't buy them (notable example being Taiwan).
What bombs for base bombing on f20a
Gaijun: "We will not add any top tier premiums" Meanwhile "We meant we won't add top BR premiums, so the F-20 is fine". Meanwhile also "Russia didn't have enough T-80's, so we're adding another T-80 as a premium"
Maybe it's just me but I can't find any reason to justify a prototype F-5E with one engine and better missiles for 75$. I don't know why Gaijin thinks their aircraft hold the same value as a full fidelity DCS module, but they are well on their way to making vehicles the same price. The highest cost for a DCS module is 79.99 and you know damn well that Gaijin is going to match it, and then exceed it. Tier 9 will be 80$ and then Tier 10 will be 85$ and so on and so on. Where does it end? When do the players actually push back?
The amount of money Gaijn going to make off of it, is going be unbelievable!!🤑

@@TimsVariety yeah I have been managing the g-lock kinda like how I fly the F16a on an expert crew and I manage with that as well . Still saving for the expert crew stacking my 300sl boosters from assault arcade to take them into my helicopter pve with the prem Apache to grind the SL. 550-600k in 30 mins isn’t that bad and guaranteed income.

For the asking price I might as well get DCS and the F-5E module and have some ACTUAL fun. Nothing in this game feels worthy of even 10-15 bucks, let alone 75USD (btw that's also as much as a AAA title.)
That alone kinda makes this a no-go to me, and I was one of those people that legitimately wanted this fighter in the game given its mystique in the military aviation realm.
feel like the 12.0 br is fair it will fight f16s to mig29s and mirages but the missiles are a bit op. giving it the aim9L's are OP for how agile it it is it should get the same IR missiles as the F5 varients and slightly worse radar missiles because the AIM7F's are really good aswell ontop of that it gets the engine and radar of the f18
12.0 BR may be pre-emptive for later introduction of Aim-120A to the aircraft

It will have to face F16 and F14D with a real high ton of Amraams (I think the F14D Got Amraams)
@@lemangeur2poulet248 Interestingly it can actually carry more 120s than it can Sparrows, and it can carry four of them without losing the tip winders. It'll be a significant upgrade. In any case, my experience has been that the limiting factor is not in sensors, weapons, or handling but simply in that it struggles facing more than one opponent at a time. The limited countermeasures work against it as well.
@@lemangeur2poulet248F-14D was tested multiple times successfully firing and supporting the Aim120. In fact, there was a software update planned on the F-14D specifically for Aim120s right before it's retirement.

No, those were earlier model F-5s. In game, the F-5C (the premium one) gets a "mig-28" skin inspired by the first Top Gun movie.

What makes it even worse the only people who benefit from someone buying the F20 are people playing Gen4 fighters because well its obvious a Mig29 or F14 is gonna win and only 45 flares is terrible

Hey I got evidence that it's over performing if you want me to send them to you on discord, the information I used was already in the war thunder forums, it over performs by 2°, it needs to be nerfed, the specific version we got in game is the F-5G (F-20A Tigershark), so ad I said I got the evidence if you want.

@@lukereyes6266To get it's performance closer to historic. That said near no fighter in game is actually that close in terms of elevator pull as virtually everything over performs. The biggest offender to this being A6Ms.

A tip to new players: just practice belly landing without gear. Its faster and easier in every game mode. You gain nothing from landing traditionally.
Should be an 11.7. This is a really nice roid raging jacked up F5....but an F-16 will make you bend the knee regularly. $75? No sir....no thank you. Wait for a min 40% sale or more and keep on wreckin' em' in the F-16. This jet needs Fox 3's or it's 12.0 BR is trippin', same with the price. Would much rather have had them give us the YF-17 as a T8 premium and then F-18 to the tech tree BRAH. But the Snail doesn't do what the player base wants....although the F-18 and the F-20 have the same engine....just sayin'....could be a sign......😜
I hate the CCBP. Absolutely loathe it. I don't want to use it, and I can't turn it off. There are a bunch or aircraft that I can't use because the CCBP interferes too much with my gameplay.

@@Lord.Kiltridge you can, you have to either A. Unbind the key or B. Bind the on/off for it... look in the controls...
Overprice
F-20 was killed because of the usual Capitol Hill politics and lobbying. It was cheaper than the F-16 and was an ideal candidate for export for similar roles to the F-16, but General Dynamics wanted to export the Viper and the politicians wanted their kickback along with lowering the cost/unit of the Viper if there are more orders from it. It's kind of sad and a bit of unluckiness with the development of the Tigershark.
This patch was straight garbage.
No new fighters, and they ruined air rb even more.
