The F-20 Tigershark has arrived in game. This is aircraft that I have a very high opinion of but I had hoped it did not come to the game like this. Currently they are charging 75 USD for this premium that sits at a battle rating of 12.0. The aircraft itself in the current state of game I feel is okay but not great. Just average play experience in my opinion. For a new player, it will be grueling. I hope you guys enjoy the video and I would love to hear your opinion of this premium aircraft and how this was introduced.

I live in Sydney, Australia, I am from New Zealand though, here in Australia it would cost me $114.29c, but in NZ money it would be $123.28c, Imagine all the stuff I could buy with that much money, here is the really funny part, even though it is only my wife and I here, either the NZ or Oz money doesn't even cover a weeks shopping or some of our bills here, at least here in Sydney.

@@n1thecaptain965 That's exactly what I recommend to anyone making the switch. Rock what you got, and when your ready, step into something you like and the rest will follow. I do get the plethora of systems seeming to be a hurdle so if you just pick the jet you love the pressure of it all turns into the joy of getting to master it. Honestly a lot of the systems translate well to the other jets (the viper and the strike eagle for example.) Oh! And check out TUUVAS, mans uses a controller for all his full fidelity stuff and offers all the control schemes for free to download so you can plug and play now if your wanting to start pre purchasing a hotas. It helps, but you don't need it. Don't tell my girl 😂.

The conversation you had early on about whether to buy it or not is very similar to the conversation that went on at DoD and Defense ministries in other parts of the world. Great fighter, massive improvement over the F-5, but...the F-16 and F-15 were already a thing. It didn't help that marketing the F-20 to foreign countries was done strictly through the State Department, who had no interest in selling the F-20 in particular to anyone. After several years, three prototypes, and lots of interest but no buyers, the project was cancelled. Another Northrup project of that era however had a happy ending: the B-2 Spirit. I seriously doubt you'll ever see it War Thunder (pun intended), and if you did, it would be nerfed to hell.

It would be good they implement some system where you have to have gotten to a certain point in the game to be allowed to buy a plane of this br. Otherwise this really makes a good premium, it’s not too different in gameplay to other things but it’s unique historically. Price wise yeah $75 is a lot but it’s not unusual for war thunder unfortunately

I've been loving it, as an avid lover of the f5e, this tickles me in all the right places from thrust to maneuverability only aircraft I enjoy as much and more right now is the f15 in terms of top tier aircraft

It's not even that planes aren't worth the price, imo, it's that the gameplay on offer isn't worth the price.
I'd pay $75 for a plane I wanted if I could play it in a bigger and more immersive game mode, but the gameplay on offer is more akin to what I'd expect to spend $0.25 on in an arcade.

Don't get me started on the inaccuracies with this thing. The radar is wrong (it needs TWS, despite what Gaijin say), the engine is anaemic, and it turns like a boat. Not worth the money at all, which is a shame, as I was tossing up between the F-4 and the F-20.

$75 for an experimental aircraft that didn't even participate in any combat? Was it even battle proven? That damned snail...
Most of the improvements were done to existing F-5Es the engine it shared with the Hornet. It was cheaper in the long run to just buy a new Hornet than upgrade the F-5E to the F-5G (F-20 was called originally) and then buy a Hornet later anyway. That is what happen they either bought the Hornet or just stuck with the F-5E until they bought the Hornet.

The War Thunder folks should add the YF-12A/F-12B to the game as a premium.
I still remember that shooting range video when they said "we will never add top tier jet premiums" im 99% positive that video is still up. Either way the F20 is beautiful and more people will buy it to strictly bomb with it. I'm almost positive you can't even get a single base with it! Also another Abrams is surprising but more freedom is good. Finally, it was only a matter of time before they added a T80 premium. Since the Click-Bait came I KNEW a T80 premium would come and here it is. Don't be surprised if a Leo 2A5 comes soon too

Tbh if it was like $50 it would be worth it. It handles well and rolls better then most planes. But 75$ is way to much
Yeah, I'm personally gonna wait until it goes on sale. I am not willing to spend full price for it, especially since the GE and Premium Time amounts didn't go up either
Fun fact: the F-20 has the same base engine as the JAS-39, though Volvo Aero developed it a bit for the Gripen to be more tolerant to bird strikes, and with better engine control.
It uses the engine originally meant for the F/A-18 the F404-GE-100 the Gripen uses the Volvo RM12 a licensed derivative of the F404 series.

Some of the digital representations of a vehicle/boat/plane only available in their shop cost more than complete, decent games. Often just copy/pasted versions of vehicles that already exist in the game. No Man's Sky complete cost less than that, and they've been supplying FREE DLC's and enhancements for nearly a decade.
Everything they do is for revenue, from the deliberate introduction of vehicles at obviously low BR, the never ending grind to encourage players into using $ directly or $ through GE to buy their way through, the so called "events" (now nearly constant) that further adds to the grind, with an extra incentive of some "gift" vehicle to entice those afflicted with FOMO.
And don't forget the "market" where they actively manipulate the prices by removing vehicles then adding them back temporarily to make them "rare", raise the price, increase their cut.
Sure, they are in it to make money, to pay wages etc... but they go way too far compared to what they give back.

Granted....$75 for a vehicle alone is a bit much, however if I have to say, it's a lot better then spending $2000 for an IS-7 or $500 for a Rank II vehicle like on Gaijin Market....I mean if I'm going to spend $75 on WT, I rather get multiple vehicles then just one...still it's nice to see the F-20A in the game.

75 bucks for a premium is the number 2 reason I quit this game after playing it since Beta. No new modes, no new maps (like 1 a year) Hell take the existing ones and make dynamic flag capture points. But the greed is what got me out.
I wish they’d given the F-4 and F-105 their underwing fuel tanks. The F-4 rarely carried the centerline tank except on long range escort or long distance base to base transfer flights. And an F-105 without those underwing tanks would have run from MiGs and be on its way home while meeting at least one tanker.
Really every modern-ish (has an afterburner) jet fighter should have their fuel tanks. It’s kind of dumb to leave them off so many planes.
EDIT: And former whale or not there is no way in hell I’m spending $75USD on a pixel plane that’s almost as good as what’s in the Tech Tree. That much money could finish the research and fully spade multiple vehicles.

I honestly don't understand the appeal of spending enough for entire games for a single digital item for an online game. The fact that it seems not that great, at least at that BR, just makes it worse. At least your sorta of made it work anyhow?
