I lava how your brain works!
Idea for the portal, awesome idea btw. What if you got rid of the solid blocks and did the design with shades of black and gray and purple glass, so that you would get more visual interaction with the two rotating disks.

Awesome Tunnel through the mountin to the portal and cool nether portal, maybe having one windmill in more darker colors and one in lighter ones for some contrast

I love the windmill and don't really know how to improve it, but probably simplify in some way - just one color per wheel or something like that.
