I can’t help but think that torching and welding around the open can of Chem Dip was perhaps a questionable decision.

IH did a lot of oddball things the MD Tractor is a perfect example of what you were describing with gas and diesel in the same engine. As history has shown the evolution moved towards glow plugs and intake heaters.

if that copper washer (kit has felt replacement) wants to leak.... maybe with it still in place (but partially still installed/ left loose) you can anneal it to give it back some squash/sealing characteristics
