Would help if you set them at the same exposure? whats the point of comparing one that has the correct exposure and one that is over exposed by 3 stops?
@@TheAlaskanOutsider would. Definately help. Comparing cameras should always be the same shot, on the same conditions, on the same settings.
The rest was just a bit too much of spec reading.
The unboxing bit was cool, straight to the point.
I agree with bruno need to set the mavic pro at the same exposure because the difference is almost not worth upgrading really and the 2 really doesnt get 31 minutes

I know what you mean, I don't even have any DJI drone but I am deciding on by the Pro used or the 2 Pro new, unless for some reason someone is selling it used.
Keep in mind that he has a COMPLETELY different color profile set up so the data that we are looking at is almost useless

Great video. I have had the mavic Pro since 2018 and used it for fun. Going full time as a real estate photographer in a couple weeks and I agree with you!
I often find the mavic great, but it doesn't capture dark colors or bright colors well and the pictures tends to be flat.
Hoping to get the mavic 3 soon!
I own a Phantom 4 pro and i have no issue with the videos it captures. The color style blue was my favourite . Then i sold the p4p for portability and bought the mavic pro platinum..how i was so dissapointed with the quality. 1st of all the dynamic range is smaller, less sharp , and if youre filming on a hill the long distance horizon kinda foggy unlike the blue skies on the p4p. Another thing i dislike about the mavic is filming on low light situation or filming the sunset..i struggle alot to get a good videos. Photo is another issue..i realize that the p4p capture more color than the mavic..doing photo edting never feel the same. I look around countless youtube mavic pro tips and setting and yet to found a good one. Your video explain alot ..and today im selling my mavic pro platinum for mavic 2 pro. Thanks

Putting a filter will bring that detail back that your losing in the sky and it would also help if you drop the exposure so it’s not so washed out ???

Great job Josiah! The new drone footage is great. You really can see the difference in color. It's like looking through polarized sunglasses and regular sunglasses - it really does cut a lot of that glare out!
How the hell is 16 million a sixth of 1 billion?? You know maths?
Probably he took that number 6 from the difference in bit number - 6 extra bits allow you to encode 64x the number of colors. Which makes 1 bln out of 16 mln.

They was two different exposures !he never set the exposure on the pro the images would be rather the same! Not worth upgrading and he was using two different shots which didn't help either ! Try other videos and u will see
It won't do any good if he got the 2 set at the right exposure and the 1 at the wrong exposure🤷

Great comments! I purchased the Mavic 2 Zoom because I am not a "professional" and don't do much post-processing. I'm more a "go and show" videographer. The Mavic 2 is a definite improvement over the Mavic Pro. The new Intelligent flight modes are also awesome! Maybe you can do a video on using the new Hyperlapse to get the best shots? The default settings are just okay.
Your title sounds like the upgrade isn't worth the extra 1000 bucks but honestly, the difference is huge!! Even though I'm an hobbyist, I use my drone alot and I'm definitely buying the Mavic Pro 2!

I purchased a mavic air. I will post some footage of it flying out on the Ohio River inspecting barges.
Good instructions and helpful for looking at options, and of course the real magic is the sensor. Got my new Mavic 2 Pro with the new controller. I was going to throw the box in the air and thought better of of it. Thanks for the information.
Very informative video. I'm a hobbiest with a 107 but not sure I'll ever do anything commercially. That said you can get a Mavic Pro for around $800 right now so I question given my situation whether it's worth it for me to spend the extra $700 - $800 to get the Mavic 2 Pro or even another $400 - $500 for the Mavic 2 Zoom. The Mavic Pro for $800 seems like a better idea given me intended usage.
Nice touch on the video editing on the dropping of the controller to the ground and tossing the Mavic 2 Pro up in the air.

Also Him: The Mavic 2 Pro goes up to 45 MPH - faster than the Mavic. It also has the Regular HDR feature and enhanced HDR photo. It’s much more quieter than the original Mavic and it can see 6 times more colors than the original Mavic so you’ll get much higher resolution videos.

Great video, but the mavic 2's video is not as smooth as the pro in you video - was the fps 24 on both or is it a editing issue 24 fps footage in a 30 fps edit or something ?

Great comparison, I have noticed that the mavic 1 does wash out the blue sky a lot when taking sunny real estate shoots. I was going to get an inspire with the x5r but maybe a mavic 2 could suffice. Thanks
@@TheAlaskanOutsider yeah i have been dealing with the mavic 1 doing real estate and promo video's for a few years now, it takes a fair bit of editing to get that vivid look from mavic 1 footage. I find it better than the x3 on the inspire though. The bigger drones feel like they are more professional and dominant in the sky, plus they handle the wing a lot better. But i use the mavic more, so maybe a mavic 2 over inspire 2. I had a look at your real estate pics too, they turned out great! Was there much post editing or is the m2 that much better?

I review vehicles, I know you said you don’t really use the follow feature, would you say to buy the 2 or just the pro? I will have to use that feature for my videos, also if I’m in parking lot do you think I will have problems with either of them losing signal?

I think the Mavic Pro (original)'s gimbal was a bit out in some of those test shots. Especially when side by side of the Mavic 2 Pro.
Well it is like this I have been looking into the mavic pro but yes I'm by no means a great photographer or plan on one so seriously which would be better pro or pro 2 I need to know thinking about biting the bullet on this one. Camping, fishing, RC'S, stuff like that with duck blind checking and dear stand checking is about the most this will be used for.

Problem w the sky dip from other bikers is That it only follows from certain height and it eliminates the panaramic big view shot. I do want it to follow bike but also for off bike footage as well bud. That’s why was wondering if a mavic one for $799 with case, 2 battery and controller was good option ? I am total noob to drones. But have been watching tons vids to learn. Thx man!

I’d certainly have to say closer to the mavic pro. The Evo II is very comparable with the mavic 2 pro!

@@TheAlaskanOutsider Thanks for that. I do not have a DJI at all, and wanting to upgrade to best I can afford and sell other drones as got bitten by the bug of flying.
I started with Hubsan H501S with standard controller, she fell from sky for no reason even on full batteries. She was only about 30 meters up. I was so upset and watched UA-cam and found a guy selling quads.
I purchased the H501SS from him wit advanced Controller. Love it. Then wanted a folding arm Quad, so again purchased A MJX Bugz4 and love that... Sticks on Bugz4 a little fast though. After this, I purchased a Hubsan Zino from first seller of Hubsan, but weather has not been great to fly.
I am wanting a drone that will beat all the above, for money I can afford. I have sold rifles very cheap for £500.00 and now selling all or most of my lock picking equipment up to bosnianbill.
Going to sell two of my current drones, maybe just keeping Zino.

i think for fair comparison you need to keep the settings the same? im guessing you put contrast to -1 or 2 on 1 and auto setting on 2?

@@TheAlaskanOutsider I'm not sure what one it was it was on the right when you did split screen. And yea, the Mavic 2 is a beast. I did have some issues with stuttering. Especially when panning. I posted on DJIs forum and no one was really helpful. So what I found was to film in 30fps at least, and some of the shots use optical flow. I use final cut, not sure what it is for premier if that's what you use. That helps a lot. OR film is 60fps, which is what I will do from here on out. Unfortunately, the Mavic 2 doesn't do 4k 60fps so either 2k or 1080p.
Will you do a review on mavic 2 pro compared to a mavic zoom what features does one have that the other does not have and how much zoom do you get. I have a mavic pro now I've learned a lot but still learning. Your opinion will help me pick. I have a place in Costa Rica and I like to take video of the wild life but the noise scares them I have bought low noise blades but not good enough any help will be greatly appreciated.

Threw the box into the air, stood in the same place, launched the drone, Masked out the drone. Just some fun premiere pro editing!
The Mavic 2 Pro has jitter in the motion and the Mavic Pro looks so much smoother.
Have they fixed this issue? Main reason i haven't upgraded yet. I shoot alot of video an don't like the jitter the mav2p has. Still using the ol mav1p platinum lol.

So, how did you insure the Drone, that is, did you get a separate policy as part of your business or attached to your personal property insurance? Do you mind indicating the cost of the insurance and for how much coverage? I usually carry $2 million liability.
@@TheAlaskanOutsider awwwww. Gotcha. I thought you meant liability. You're referring to insurance on the drone itself. That seems reasonable for the latter but for the former (liability)I would expect to see a premium in the neighborhood of $300 or more and wouldn't be surprised of $500 or more. The company I used to have said that If I used a drone with my business they would cancel my coverage while the current company said the drone would simply rate the policy perhaps as high as upwards of double the current premium depending on my certifications and qualifications.

Have one coming in Thursday. What do you think about the fish eye in dlog? Guys were roid raging on the dji forums about it today. I guess if you do a lot of 3d chroma key work to lay on top of the footage, you have to render all footage strait beforehand :\

Thank you! I was not going to buy it until I saw your video and now I want to buy it again! I just didn't want to buy a camera whose distortion had to be fixed in post production.
From the moment I saw the specs, I didn't think it was worth upgrading from the Mavic Pro. Sure, it's a better machine. But, it's not worth the extra money you'd be paying out after you've sold your Mavic Pro. I don't even think it's much of an upgrade over the Phantom 4. I think the only people that will buy it are newbies (with more money than sense) and Phantom 4 owners that needs the portability
