It's simple if you're just flying around taking photos and videos of you family pool party or dog running after his or her favorite toy then the mavic air 2 is the perfect drone . If you're filming for a living or wanting very good aerial photos then the M2P is the drone for that 🤷
Yeah, what a waste of time. I don’t care about what free stuff people are sending him and what a “cool and interesting “ busy life he leads as a Casey wannabe vlogger. I just wanted some more real comparison between the two.
@@MikeeRogers Thanks for your well reasoned reply dimwit. This video is click bait. He never gets around to answering his own question which is the TITLE OF THE VIDEO.
I don't know if Matti compared the raw footage or edited, but to me even though the Air 2 gets sharpened by software it looks better than the Mavic 2 Pro. Maybe you should test them at sunrise or sunset to see which one does better in low light. But if I have to upgrade my Mavic Pro at this very second I would go for the Air 2.
For the average person i think Air 2 is a fantastic product. In most cases it's good enough to post amazing flicks to social media. But if you do a lot of photography and video recording like me, then M2Ps sensor makes a huge difference. You want to shoot in ISO100 if possible, but with minimum noise. Less noise means sharper images. That's why a larger sensor is so important.
Ah yes the ole "sharpness trick" to fool the sheep. I used to use that on people who purchased photos from me. Add some extra saturation and sharpness to get more sales.
6:23 What? I disagree. ...is it just my monitor or something? IMO the Air 2 has a much better picture in all of your comparisons! THANKS for this video!
Thanks for saying that. I always see top UA-camrs choose the worst looking vid over the best looking one, and can never figure out why that is. The Mavic 2 Pro shot looks washed out compared the the Mavic Air 2, and it's very easy to see. I dunno, Matti.

Great bumping into you Matti! Insane how I've been watching you since the travel feel days and got into filming travel content through your course and tutorials. Was out shooting some content for a travel brand and happened to bump into you. Got inspired from watching you saying you want to make vlogs again and bring back travel feels, go out for a walk to shoot content, and I see you!!!! I definitely think everything happens for a reason and I was actually debating if I should start making videos again for my channel especially since I stopped to cater to work and clients. Bumping into you was just the inspiration I needed to start grinding and getting back on the videos.Thank you brother.
Agree. It’s fine a little bit of chitchat like his buddy Peter does but this is WAY too much additional and unnecessary content. Too much fluff that just gives the impression he doesn’t have enough real content. I like him but it was a frustrating video to watch for sure.
People complaining the video moved to fast but the paces was perfect in my opinion the mavic air 2 is the drone I'm going to be picking due to it's features, price, and over quality of the video, it may not have the fancy blur due to it's high aperture but it's sharp the dynamic range is good and when in dcine-like the footage when color graded looks amazing.
I understand why it's hard for non-professionals to tell the difference. But I've been a Director of Photography and a Cinematographer for over 20 years. This is the oldest trick in the book. When you have an inferior sensor and an inferior lens... what they LOVE to do is bump up the Sharpness, Brightness, and Saturation... to give you the impression that you're getting better image quality. But if you look (on a REAL MONITOR or 4K TV please... not your phone) at the image of the Mavic Air at 6:11 and the Mavic 2 Pro at 6:07... Yes it's sharper, it's brighter, and it's more saturated... but it is NOT more detailed and the quality is nowhere close. But that's pretty hard to see if you don't know what you're looking for. Let's try something a little easier. 8:05 side-by-side comparison. Mavic Air 2? Sharper, brighter, more saturated... but MY GOD! Look at the trees on the Mavic Pro 2! Look at the grass! On the Mavic 2 Pro tehy look like real trees and the grass looks like real grass. The level of detail... not sharpness... but DETAIL is astonishing. Mind you... you could kick up the BRIGHTNESS on the Mavic 2 Pro and have just as washed-out an image as the Mavic Air 2... You could boost the sharpness... but look what that does to the sky on the Air 2 compared to the 2 Pro. And look what happens when you boost the saturation by that much... Unnatural colors. This dude uses drones to make MONEY... and he is correct. The 2 Pro is way better.
Very cool man thanks for the vid. I still have the original mavic air. As a matter of fact, I get it back on Saturday from DJI since it was flying funky cause of the stick modules in the remote we’re bad. Can’t wait to fly again!!
With studio shot you can see clearly what bigger sensor does to the image. In the outdoor footage, there one thing that people keep forgetting over and over, that m2p (as p4p etc) have actual mechanical aperture which does affect on sharpness big time. Best sharpnes is achieved around f/4-5,6, but most videos shoots in bright sun are shut automatically on something like f/11 etc (ppecialy with fps around 30 and wothou use of filters etc), which softem image a lot (as on any lens with closed aperture, but smaller, drone lenses are even more prone to this, i think). so, learn to use it, it is pro tool and it will give best if you know hot to use it. this is the reason why he mentioned, he will take m2p with him, whenever he wants to shoot something nice. air 2 is just another flying phone sensor.
I want the pro 2 cuz it the extras anti-collision sensors on the side and top....but the air 2 has that new Air Sense feature and that's really helpful if there are any nearby aircraft
What about VS a mini? I am a hobbiest photographer and I want a drone just to add another dimension to my shooting, but does it compare to the AIR2 or the PRO? Having to get a drone license puts me off getting the better versions
@@mikeplaysit I dunno. He has responded to a few comments on here about the Air 2 footage looking better and less blurry, and he never mentioned they were accidentally reversed or anything like that...
@@bwebmasta1 Totally! They are always saying the more expensive drone looks better but to my eye it's usually the one with smaller sensor that is better. Weird!
@@gr8reels I got the Mavic Air 2, and the results are phenomenal. I know people that have the Pro, and comparing pics & footage...I don't see the $1,000 more worth it.
@@Royalyorkies I just bought the air 2 fly more bundle (first drone) and agree a 1" sensor is generally better than 1/2". I also think they have to save something to promote the M2P. For professional work I think most photographers would prefer the 1" as well however, the air 2 does have the new codecs which should be a plus but wish it had a selectable aperture. I am very happy with the air 2 so far and maybe the air 3 will have the 1" sensor. Cheers and God bless
I still think M2Pro still has better dynamic range because of that slightly superior sensor and that my friends makes a lot of difference. The flexibility of aperture changeability is also useful as well. And I also like the lesser noise of the M2Pro. This drone might be a bit older but still rocks overall.
thats a bad thing though. because when in the field, you may or may not nail exposure everytime. And you will need to grade. the air2's 8bit footage will not like that at all, and fall apart. while the pro's 10bit footage will give you some range to play with.
You know how phones now have 100 megapixels and a canon eos r has around 32 megapixels? Which camera do you think produces better results? Double the sensor size doesn’t just mean better light it’s all around better at everything.
I own both the M2P has better dynamic range and highlight roll off. Plus the 10 bit may be a deal breaker for some productions however the MA2 benefits from newer tech. In real use case I’ve not seen much or any difference.
Matti: Great video! What is your vlog setup in this video? Camera, Lens, microphone, tripod, gimble(if any), ND filter?, anything else? Thanks! Are you Norwegian or planning to go to Norway? Let me know if you need any tips for Norway. Keep it up!
The reasons I prefer the 2 Pro over the Air are 1) better raw pictures (20mp against 12mp in the Air - I think the 48 mp is only jpegs) and also the fact that the 2 Pro and the 2 Zoom have 2x IMU and compass sensors for when things go wrong (correct me if I am wrong but I think the Air 2 only has 1?). But the size, weight and price of the Air 2 make it compelling. The Mavic 2 Pro/Zoom also will have better wind resistance and flight stability overall.

Mine arrives on Thursday and all the footage I have seen looks over sharpened. I will be really disappointed if the Mavic 3 is coming out soon. Here the US it probably will be blocked from entering the country by the Patent Lawsuit ruling.
why do you say the pro is better image than the air? The Pro footage looks soft and more muddy while the Ir footage is cleaner? Is the softer image more cinematic in your opinion?

Can you talk about the Air 2 vs the Mini for Canadians? I’m stumped about whether I want superior photo quality... or superior amount of places I can fly it.
Great video matti, I hope i cam buy my drone soon? One question though, on which camera did you filmed this video? Was it sony or canon? Appreciate alot your vlogs, cool.
I'm glad I saw this video. I have Mavic 2 Pro and been contemplating whether I should sell it and buy the Mavic Air 2. Thank you for this good enough comparison. Really helped me with my decision on keeping the Mavic 2 pro.

If I were to ever make a film set about the Wild West, first thing I'd do is crumple up paper and use it as tumbleweed 😂😂 Great job on the intro Matti and crew. Very creative! Also, I could be wrong, but I think DJI is currently facing patent violations and could potentially be banned from the U.S.??
You are right. DJI is currently facing a lawsuit that Autel rebotics (which is another drone company) put on them. I wont go into any of the details cause theres wayy to many, but basically the judge said that if DJI ultimately loses they will have to remove the spark, mavic air 1 (aka the original one), Mavic pro, Mavic pro platinum, Mavic 2 pro, and Mavic 2 zoom. You may see that the new Mavic air 2 is not on this lists because it does not violate the quick-release propellers that are being argued. ua-cam.com/video/Yjr4TAQt7r0/v-deo.html. That video does a really good job explaining all the details, but just know based on what I have read that the Mavic air 2 is not included because of the difference.
Matti, The Mavic Air 2 video was 100 times better than the Mavic 2 Pro, easily. That's just weird. Also, after getting a Onewheel- I never rode my eSk8 board ever again and never will. I hate those things now. The Onewheel ruined it for all eSk8's for me. Nice vid!!
I wished someone with a bit of knowledge would compact the photo quality. I need to buy a drone for work to use for photogrammetry but I don’t know what drone is going to be best. By rights the Mavic 2 Pro should be the best but I just don’t know.
I think you are right, with one caveat. The 2 Pro has a better sensor, better raw pictures for editing and more megapixels for raw photos, and so they should be better. The caveat is that if you are just a casual photographer and want out of the box jpegs like a mobile phone, the 48 mp Air 2 would probably be better. But overall the 2 Pro with raw pictures edited in Lightroom would be difficult to beat.
You touched on the ease of setup for the air 2 vs 2 pro but you didn't elaborate on it. What are the menu's like? Ease of operation? Weight of the two? Any quirks for either of them? We need more details to make a decision :(
Just sold my Mavic Pro after almost 3 years of awesome flying and filming. My Mavic Air 2 is on the way :). Thanks for the video. Oh and I might go and grab that slice, looks great. Take care
Nice video as always mate. I recently purchased the air 2 (only released in Australia 1 week ago) to add some alternative footage to my channel videos. My last drone was the very first phantom. Wow, the technology has come so far. Its bloody amazing. Thanks for the videos mate.
Yea MA2 definitely has more detail, 1" sensor will remain king of the low light. Per usual, depends on your budget and needs. Both great drones! Thanks for the side by side!
I'm coming from a spark, the mini us out because I don't want no occusync, but should I skip the air 2 and get a used pro 2 for the same price or get a mavic air 2? Anyone else save money buying a mavic air 1? Thanks for the video!!
I think you need to re-evaluate your video. At TS 6:24 you say the Mavic 2 Pro is definitely better quality, clearly the Mavic Air 2 is better quality, sharper and background in focus whereas the Mavic 2 Pro has a blurry background, check out the stuff on the shelf. Don't understand how you came to that conclusion.
Noob here looking to purchase my first drone for a lifestyle website I’m creating. For those that deal in video editing on the daily, is the MA2 image quality good enough that you can color grade it post shoot and improve the quality enough to hide some of it’s flaws?
Thanks for the tip. I'm considering upgrading from a DIY camera drone (with DJI parts) and your video was very helpful. I can't get over the size of that pizza. Just looked up the shop and will definitely swing by with friends next time we're in the area.
I am torn! I have the 2 pro but I like the air 2 being smaller etc. But to your point, if you go to Norway, you want the best image possible. I think I am keeping my pro lol.
Hi Matti, I liked the images from Mavic Air 2 more. They seemed to me to be sharper and their colors were brighter than the images on Mavic 2 Pro. And do not give importance to the comment of those who prefer that you speak only technical details because the exclusively technical evaluations are boring. Doing things in a fun way is much better.
Good morning and thanks a lot for taking your time to explain the differences between the two drones. It really helped me a lot. I think I’m going to go with the MaV air 2. Intro is just awesome! Good job Matti :D :D
what filter CPL/UV will you recommend with best quality ? 🙏😄
with all due respect, I logged onto your channel to learn about the MAVIC AIR 2 vs MAVIC 2 PRO. And am I presented with; pizza, boosted board, unloading and various unrelated delivery packages . My time is valuable , why am I even following you !
Can you talk about the Air 2 vs the Mini for Canadians? I’m stumped about whether I want superior photo quality... or superior amount of places I can fly it.
Great video matti,
I hope i cam buy my drone soon?
One question though, on which camera did you filmed this video?
Was it sony or canon?
Appreciate alot your vlogs, cool.
5 minutes of complete BS in an 11 minute video. SMH.
Why BS?
Bought Mavic Air 2 after watching this video and love it , no looking back.
I'm glad I saw this video. I have Mavic 2 Pro and been contemplating whether I should sell it and buy the Mavic Air 2. Thank you for this good enough comparison. Really helped me with my decision on keeping the Mavic 2 pro.
Hey, Thanks for everything. The last shot in this review (The sunset timelampse) - What camera is it taken with? Would you be open to sell that clip? Best
If I were to ever make a film set about the Wild West, first thing I'd do is crumple up paper and use it as tumbleweed 😂😂
Great job on the intro Matti and crew. Very creative!
Also, I could be wrong, but I think DJI is currently facing patent violations and could potentially be banned from the U.S.??
Raya Kee oh no pls no I love DJI
Nice vid!!
The transmitter has ocusync 2.0 (not sure if the 2 pro has that. And it has a massive battery which also charges your phone or tablet while in use
😂😂😂 I laughed uncontrollably when the intro scene transitioned from Western to real life Matti and Tyler... I STAN!!!
Well hot damn; this has been the clearest comparison as to which is better for my next purchase.
Thanks, Matti!
We need more details to make a decision :(
Your videos are absolutely gorgeous. Congratulations. I'm following you. Thanks for the useful information.
Just sold my Mavic Pro after almost 3 years of awesome flying and filming. My Mavic Air 2 is on the way :). Thanks for the video. Oh and I might go and grab that slice, looks great. Take care
Wish it would have Airsense & better signal outside of North America too.
Might be worth mentioning
Dude I can tell you had a lot of fun making this one
Nice video as always mate. I recently purchased the air 2 (only released in Australia 1 week ago) to add some alternative footage to my channel videos. My last drone was the very first phantom. Wow, the technology has come so far. Its bloody amazing. Thanks for the videos mate.
0:22 Matti trying to act tough. 😂 One of the funniest things I've seen in a while.
Yes, this is what i was waiting for, good video!
Thank you for all the video Matti, it keeps me going during this time!!!
Cool cinematic videopraphy...👍
Yea MA2 definitely has more detail, 1" sensor will remain king of the low light. Per usual, depends on your budget and needs. Both great drones! Thanks for the side by side!
Been really loving your videos man, definitely inspired by your content!
Been waiting for this one. Thanks Matti!!
Dude!!! that intro is INSANE!!! Good job there!
9:26 when your diet doctor says only one slice of pizza a day
Awesome review man. Love the hop skip nature of it. Forget all those people saying with a nasal voice "Oh you didnt cover off X". Keep it up.
I wonder what camera were you using making this vlog 🥰
Thank you so much for taking your time and expertise to do all this stuff. I'm still pretty new at this, so it's a real help for me.
Noob here looking to purchase my first drone for a lifestyle website I’m creating. For those that deal in video editing on the daily, is the MA2 image quality good enough that you can color grade it post shoot and improve the quality enough to hide some of it’s flaws?
Maybe I didn't see correctly but it seems you had a filter on the mavic 2 pro but not on the air 2 ?
So far I thought about buying DJI Mavic Air, because I am riding with motocross bike in the tracks, want to get some cool shots from the above. ✌️
Thanks for the tip. I'm considering upgrading from a DIY camera drone (with DJI parts) and your video was very helpful. I can't get over the size of that pizza. Just looked up the shop and will definitely swing by with friends next time we're in the area.
The kick in the beginning was just to perfect
Is there even a drone out that can zoom in from a distance (where props are quiet) and see face features? TY
I am torn! I have the 2 pro but I like the air 2 being smaller etc. But to your point, if you go to Norway, you want the best image possible. I think I am keeping my pro lol.
Thank you for the comparison. Seems like the mavic air 2 is a really great drone. Packing some heat in a small little body
Cab you upload a raw picture shot with the Mavic Air 2?
Hi Matti, I liked the images from Mavic Air 2 more. They seemed to me to be sharper and their colors were brighter than the images on Mavic 2 Pro. And do not give importance to the comment of those who prefer that you speak only technical details because the exclusively technical evaluations are boring. Doing things in a fun way is much better.
This intro is the best!
Good morning and thanks a lot for taking your time to explain the differences between the two drones. It really helped me a lot. I think I’m going to go with the MaV air 2. I don’t think that I’ll be giving the Pro 2 the use that it needs. It’ll only be for when I go in travel and maybe play with it around the house. THANK YOU !
This 11 minute video has 1 minute of actual content. Of that content, 12.5 seconds are actually useful.
