I find it so funny how cosy glow breaks the book free from its lock with a book about keys. I also love how chrysalis brings it up about how the ponies have so many holidays

7:15 Of all the things for Tirek to feel sympathy for, it’s a bird. Though he did have an army of Monsters made from birds and butterflies in Gen 1.
MLP is a Hasbro brand. Of course it has a Gen 1. This is Gen 4 after all.

Yeah, that was a surprise. Gotta remember that, oddly, Tirek is the smartest of the three, or at least the one that can control himself more. Cozy Glow is a good strategist, but she still has her childish naive personality, and Chrysalis has serious anger issues (still love her tho).

Another successfully written episode by Michael Vogel I must say! So good to have another seasonal plot driven episode like this one. I also love how Twilight is becoming more mature when it comes to challenging situations, one of my favorite things about this episode.

I know that Cozy Tyrek and Chrysalis are villains but I love seeing them work together
It really is a great example of the sum being greater than the parts. They're all competent on their own, but together their strengths complement each other and allow them to do more than any of them could individually. It really is interesting to see how successful they can be this way and makes them an imposing threat for the Mane 6.

The episode was awesome, especially since we see Twilight not Twilighting and freaking out for once, and the villains did a pretty good job of delaying preparation for the celebration by distracting all those ponies.
Seen this episode so many times, but this reaction is the first time I noticed it. 20:21, walking in the foreground, those are totally the Bronycon mascots. Blank Canvas, Hoof Beatz, and Mane Event, Baltimare's Own. Man, I'm gonna miss Bronycon. And this show, for that matter. Thanks for doing this for all of us, Red Horse. We appreciate your sacrifices (yes, I saw the Anthology video too.)

This is what made me come to peace with the show ending, because... of just how calm,and n control, and developed Twilight is. Between this and the last ep......I just freaking love crazy Twilight stressing the hell out. And the show is at a place where, those bizarre, ponies going nuts over low stakes events fun is so hard to do at this point. The character have simply matured to a point they are (usually) too stable for this type of thing to keep going.

I can't wait for the Star Trek episode when Grand Pear and Mudbriar go back to the 80s to get two humpback whales only to run into the Continuum. #Dreaming

3:04 technically, they don't keep it all for themselves. Many have been able to go in and read certain parts of the archives, so... you're just making assumptions here, Tirek.
9:41 when I first saw this episode I wanted to call them out for forgetting that 1, Tirek wasn't able to absorb Earth Pony magic until he'd already absorbed large amounts of both unicorn and pegasus magic, 2, whenever he steals magic from a pony they're Cutie Mark vanishes and 3, Frenemies suggested he can't take magic from those who resist in his current state.
Then I thought Tirek isn't absorbing magic the same way as in season 4, as back then, he took ALL the magic from each victim and here he was more taking the upper layer of magical life Force, thus Cutie Marks don't vanish and he's actually able to do it.
But... later episodes show that, nope, I was right the first time. The animators just forgot those details.
They also don't bother to explain why Discord doesn't notice Tirek stealing the magic, since it should be causing a magical imbalance, the thing he used to track down Tirek last time.

This guard finds Cozy Glow, a known criminal who SHOULD be in Tartarus, followed by Tirek (also supposed to be in Tartarus) draining his magic, something he went through before when Tirek invaded Canterlot back in season 4... and DIDN'T tell the Princesses about it?
This guy needs to be fired for letting Equestria get attacked later on.
If he'd bothered to inform the Princesses who'd attacked him, they'd know Tirek and Cozy Glow have gotten out of Tartarus.
How, they'd still not know, but they would know they were out there and, upon checking the archives, would've realized the book about Grogar's Bewitching Bell was gone and would still be able to guess that they must have his Bewitching Bell and realize how bad that is and would've prepared for the invasion.

I get the joke of a book with a key on the cover being what Cozy uses to get through the chains and it is funny.
But in context, clearly, when Shining Armour overhauled the castle's security, for some bizarre reason, he never considered the area WITH TONS OF SPELLS AND DANGEROUS MAGICAL ARTIFACTS to be of any concern.

None of the pony races turned against each other. If anything, they turned against themselves. Unicorns turned against other unicorns, the pegasi were trying to fix what they'd have seen as a huge problem caused by one of their own and the Earth Ponies thought they were sick from food poisoning from the food THEY THEMSELVES made.
I don't see how they interpreted THAT into turning unicorns, pegasi and Earth Ponies against the other races.
Did something happen off screen we're unaware of?
Autum Breeze Tirek's Magic might be different because he has some of Grogar's to start with and we don't know how his works

It's not any different than back in season 4.
I get what you're going for, but that can only apply in the two parter, not at this point in the show.

I have a feeling that Discord knows a lot more than he lets on. I like to believe he can see little glimpse of the future (after all, he could go back in time, shown in his premier), which is why he always seems to know what's about to happen. Example being at the end of this episode, second episode of season 9, etc.

Finally, another episode that feels less like filler and more like something that belongs in a final season.
I get what you mean, but try to keep in mind that MLP:FiM has a ratio highly in favor of slice of life episodes over adventure arches. It isn't really filler, when it's what the show is by default.

As we get closer to the end of the series, we can hope for a great future for mlp Hen 5.

Pointless episodes dealing with storylines no one cared about or that went nowhere. Ignoring things being set up in additional materials they were selling to their fan base. Forgetting to even foreshadow their main villain's reveal until the absolute last minute. Having multiple characters be stupid for the plot. Useless love triangle nonsense with a cliche pay off. Oh and lets not forget hand waving away the main character committing a genocide on a race of thinking, feeling and aspirating creatures with families that couldn't even defend themselves. Lol
