I will say as we approach the end of season 9 I wanted to give credit to the animators and how far they've managed to stretch Flash to it's limits during these episodes because the facial expressions these past few episodes throughout are consistent gems. Full proper respects for the work they do because It's fantastic.
I think that the story provided us wjth a few interesting details that have varied interpretation. Firstly, it was nice that Spike's and Rarity's relationship, whatever will happen with it in the future, got rid of the "bad side" of it. It was clearly showed that Rarity didn't even consider the fact that Spike could decline her in any way. She needed to see him go away to realize that he is not just a helper and free muscles. All this time, he was her closest friend and confidante and by Gabby "taking him away" Rairty's mind and heart opened. She genuinely wanted to give Spike quality time, even if the possesivnes caused by Gabby's presence, caused her to loose control. I love how much jealousy and emotions Rarity displays in the episode. Even if in "Fame and Misfortune" some ponies manifested their hate for her, I am pretty sure that Rarity percieves herself as the one that can wrap anyone around her hoof. And some behaviouristic traits she displays over is also a girl's pride. Gabby's arrival only made her more furious. Spike is actually acting normal. Well, normal to the extent. Ultimately, we really don't know if his love for Rarity changed. Gabby is portrayed as a new friend and yet they are some indications of closeness that made Rarity so jealous. On the other hand, Spike and Rarity had a tender (in my opinion) ending scene in a gem cave, showing that Spike is always in need of his Rarity time, even if he also needs time away from her. That's part of maturing and I respect that Spike's approach to the personal interactions changed that much. Even if by his mixed signals I was actually left with haremic thoughts. I wouldn't be surprsed if hundreds of fanfics were about Spike trying to make time for both Gabby and Rarity. Speaking of mixed signals, I honestly don't know how I would act in Spike's place. He had two girls (personally I consider one of them cute and the other gorgeous) wooing for his attention. Who would have thought that Rarity's craving for Spike's presence would be so great that after spending the entire night sleepless, she would sneak into his bed. Rarity makes it clear that Spike is crucial to her and throughout the episode, she sees how much value she needs to see in Spike and how much she wants to be around him. Throughout the episode, she basically went through 6 phases of grief (From denial at the beginning, anger in the cave and in conversation with Twilight, bargaining by buying Spike gifts and spending time with him, derpession by the series of crying and flashbacks and finally aceptance of sharing Spike with another). I refuse to believe that Spike moved on from his love for Rarity without any clear motivation for it. I mean, come on, it was one of his character traits for over 8 seasons (remeber Best Gift Ever). There is no way that Spike just forgot his love in one night. But bringing Gabby back was a wonderful choice, she and Spike are really similar and I am really glad that he can spend time with her.(Even if she threw a tantrum over O&O. Why can't someone, play a game while resting. Poor Spike, got two moody girls) The episode was a wonderful fix of Spike's and Rarity's relationship and a "choose your own ending" for both Sparity lovers and haters. There is nothing said about Spike not loving Rarity anymore and after this episode Rarity may even want to date him. Gabby however may be Spike's ultimate love. No way to proove either one. Last thing I want to point out are the exquisite cameos of some of the elements from fandom's Sparity comics. The blue gem that Rarity's stares at with tears in her eyes in the gem cave bears a striking resemblence to Spike's gift from "Like a fine wine". Secondly, Rarity's gag of licking gems may be a reference to next generation comic "gem cravings" in Kilailaverse.
Oh wow. After seeing this episode... So many times. I just put 2 and 2 together with the gem store scene. I got that spike noticed the counterfit gem, which is why the guy began to sweat. What I didn't catch was it was the guy in the flashback is implied to be fired. We see the same gem store 3 times, and hes only in the flashback. Its a completely new character in presant day. Id write it off if we only saw her once, but we see her on 2 seperate occasions. Meaning its heavily implied that the first sales clerk was caught counterfiting after spike tasted the gem and was replaced.
I was happy that this episode happened, I do enjoy Spike and Rarity interacting but just as friends the crush did'nt bother me because it was one sided and kids do that more than you think. But a toxic feeling was developing in it that really needed to be addresed before the show ended, there were definetly a good number of times where she knowingly takes advantage of Spike's feelings for her to get something. So much that because Spike was so willing and ready to volunteer his time with Rarity for so long she began to forget that it was still just volunteering and simply expected him to always say yes to helping her to the point where she does'nt even need to ask anymore. So when Spike suddenly says no to her I can believe the sting of it really confused her. She needed to understand that Spike's help was always voluntary and that he has no obligation to her. Spike also while certainly smart and has grown alot is still just a kid so he's going to have a bit of a harder time picking up that she's upset unless she expresses that verbally to him. So she had to be the adult and express that she missed spending time with Spike, because once she did he understood and adjusted things accordingly so he can still hang out with her.

Have I finally got the episode I been wanting for? Did spike finally move on?!!?!!? 😆😳 Edit: well it’s clearly shown that spike still likes Rarity, like you just can’t move on form one crush to the next so quickly, but it’s shown though that spike is developing feelings for some one else (note the blush on Spikes face as he asks if he can join gabby on her rounds) it’s nice to see Spike finding a po- griffin who has similar interests and liking each other’s company. Of corse not to say Rarity didn’t, obviously shown through her jealously. It’s also just satisfying to see spike not get all infatuated with Rare for once. TBH this episode was so poorly approached. Sure, Rarity was wrong in her way of trying to spend time with Spike but I think Spike should've learned that just because you make a new friend, it doesn't mean you just drop your old friend(s) and only hang out with the new one. I myself have been on the "dropped" end of that situation and it really sucks..

Hello how are you doing today and yes I respect you and your opinion and I watched this episode before and it’s one of my most favorite episode of mlp and gabby and spike are very good close pan pal friends and it was so nice to see them bonding and hanging out with each other and i understand when you said that it come to clearly show spike still likes rarity that is true because the way got the ending of the episode were spike said that him and gabby had a great day but he will always want his rarity time and he was holding rarity hoof in his hand and then pinkie pie saying something there at the end and yeah that’s why I believe this episode has increases spike and rarity relationship.💕

As of this episode I no longer ship Spike and Smolder (no idea where it came from in the first place), now I'm Spike and Gabby! I do wonder what a Dryphon would look like. And that if Rarijack becomes a thing, Jackie may want to set up some ground rules.
Rarity x Apple Jack won't ever be a thing, because then, MLP would be banned in many places because it's gay/lesbian/bisexual. That's not what Hasbro wants, they wanna keep a good reputation and sell toys all over the place.
TBH this episode was so poorly approached. Sure, Rarity was wrong in her way of trying to spend time with Spike but I think Spike should've learned that just because you make a new friend, it doesn't mean you just drop your old friend(s) and only hang out with the new one. I myself have been on the "dropped" end of that situation and it really sucks..
He DID'NT though infact that was never something he even considered, he was excited about his new friend and got a bit carried away but that's fine it's an easy mistake to make especially for a kid. Rari

Same, the title of a recommended video on UA-cam spoiled me the first minutes of Episode 24 so i decided not to wait anymore and finish the series, i can't wait to see how he react to what happens but i really hope my favorite red horse won't get spoiled before watching those episodes.
