  • Steven Furtick gave a message two years ago where he said "I am God Almighty". Discernment ministries have said that he claimed to be God. In this video I present the context for what he was saying to debunk the critics.

Good video. I am not a Furtick fan but appreciate the clarity you brought in this video. These discernment ministries are very insincere. I have no problem with calling out error or false teachings but lets do it redemptively and accurately.

Its amazing How much clearer a message is putting it back into context. Clearly listening to it in its proper setting, He's not saying He himself is God almighty. Thank you Bro Rod for this. Blessings to you. So many times, discernment channels will provide part of what someone is saying without proper context. Context makes things so much clearer

Great explanation, brother. I really love, and agree with, your comment about "common sense." If these guys were not so blinded by their bigotry, a first response would be, "That sounds weird; I wonder what he meant." But no, their "radar" is set on condemnation, so they are hoping and looking to find fault; it's the default of their hearts. God have mercy.

wow! thanks for doing this video brother! I am definitely NOT a Furtick fan. But I don't like people to LIE about someone like that (even if I think he is heretical for others reasons). Yeah, the "discernment" ministries have a point about much of what they say, but they are in dangerous dangerous terrain in my opinion with such ridiculous errors like this one! I remember when Furtick made that comment, and I accept the assessment of the "discerners" but it looks more now like they could be called "the slanderers"! Thanks again! Lesson learned! Check the source IN CONTEXT before making a quick judgment! God bless.

The problem with full-time "discernment ministries" is that we become like that which we focus our minds upon. If we focus on Christ, we become more like Christ. If we focus on error, we end up in error. Those who believe their calling is discernment tend to become very pharisaical: high-minded, self-righteous, and horribly judgemental. They can't afford to smile. Or truly edify and encourage. They end up being sourpusses.

Amen. This is why the Lord instructs us, "Take heed WHAT ye hear."
And when Peter asks Jesus, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended after they heard these sayings? He answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. *Let them alone:* they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

I appreciate Rod doing this. It really blows my mind just how immensely incompetent people can be when assessing information. Even sometimes people who are generally thoughtful and well rounded do this. Yes, I think Steven should’ve quickly made a statement the following week letting people know the way he said it could sound like something not good to some people. But seriously though? Even watching the clip taken out of context I knew the that the claims and concerns about what he were said were both faulty and bs. It’s so obvious! How in the world are people sooo easily duped into not realizing such obvious things when presented with facts/information. It’s like the accusation against Paula White that she said that if someone says for you to deny yourself, they are from Satan. For some reason despite me showing people by breaking it down for them how there is no evidence that she said this, still people think to themselves, “Well I’m reading this digital graphic posted on the internet that has quotation marks around it and under it has a dash with her name next to it, to clearly she said it”. How can people not realize just how dumb and moronic they are being when researching and evaluating information and carelessly passing around unverified alleged facts taken out of context? Especially Christians! Why do people persist on being willfully ignorant. It’s feels like people even Christians just oh so want certain things to be true to validate how they feel about a person or a topic. Even if you demonstrate to them in the clearest way of how it just isn’t true or real. And this problem, and with Christians too, is majorly a problem in the political arena as well

Thank you, brother Rod, for revealing the 'full truth' on that infamous clip!! ... If we are to judge in all fairness, we need full disclosure!!
I (now) see what Pastor Furtick was preaching there. No apologies!! 'I am God Almighty' is a reference to what God is saying in the scripture!! No error there!!
Furtick didn't exalt himself and he won't be abased!! .... I'm surprised that so many 'discernment ministers' are so irresponsible and greedy of gain (clicks and views)
Rod, you deal with a lot of discernment ministries. It doesn't seem to bother them to mis-represent brothers in Christ.

All I see lately is Christians against Christians, these people wholehearted believe in their own dashing their "enemies" babies against the rocks. Instead maybe look more into what they are actually preaching, talking, teaching, sharing about. Yes we definitely need to discern at the same time.

Jew and Greek has become a "discernment" channel. It's just that he thinks he is always right and that it's the other ones that are wrong. One can make a contextual argument that Steven does not really think he is God however that doesn't negate the fact that Steven's statements were unnecessary and unwise.

He seems to be a 'cult of personality' preacher, a performer doing a performance. Talks more about, and draws more attention to himself than he does Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The preacher should be about showing us and pointing us to Our Lord Jesus, our brother, our lover, our savior, our spouse.
"Take away the veil from our eyes, take away the hardness of our hearts and show us Jesus, show us Jesus, let us see Jesus, only Jesus before our eyes O Father."
Not getting that vibe from him or from his loud, boisterous performance.
Oh well, he's not my servant nor has The Lord called me to sit under his ministry, so, let The Lord have His way with him. Amen.
