      He's looking solid all round. Think the squat might be the only thing holding back if you can even say that, probably just lack of specific training. Hopefully there will be more squat events to come in comp as it's been a while.

    His max deadlift has been good for the last few years. Deadlift for reps seems to be where he's struggled. I don't think it's even a strength thing, maybe just cardio and pacing.

      But he is not the reigning champion anymore, that is Mitchell Hooper - the things where people pretend you can always call yourself worlds strongest is made up, and not part of the official worlds strongest man win either. He is the former worlds strongest man and 2x champion, but currently he is knocked from his throne.

      Only one 1000 lbs deadlifter was able to do it both ways. It's not common for conventional lifters to be good at sumo

      @@TheLegMan1 only 2 1000lbs deadlifters have tried to do it both ways. the sumo 1k puller failed conventional after a long specific training cycle, the 1k conventional puller did 1050 sumo without prep for shits and giggles

    I believe him and Martins have both never pull 1000lbs (455kg) despite having years where I'm sure they could have.
    I think remember Tom doing RDLs with 700+lbs (350kg). Probably lead up to his first WSM and he was pulling on an orange bar.

    Is hard to say with Tom, in the last years deadlift in strongman have gone both up and down, i mean, nobody is touching 500+KG but also there is a lot of new thousand pound club members, club of wich Tom ain´t part yet, and he does get a lot out of a suit. BTW he should be trainning Raw for the elephant bar, so there, so much for Tom winning the Arnold´s too. Still he has improved a lot lately, he is comming very strong, still i don´t think he is a deadlift monster, has potentia though.

    Tom has never struggled to deadlift its Luke who has struggled. Luke has switched trainers to change it that weakness. Tom didnt really have weakness. it's time taken to continue his reps during a break

      You can at Britain's Strongest Man where he is competing in 10 days and one of the events is a Deadlift Decision event with standard DL bars. I'm pretty sure he knows what he's doing. Mateusz came in second last year in the Arnold's after zeroing the Dead so coming in 6th or 7th is not a bad place to be if you're good at the other events (which Tom is).

    Previously winning the title does not make you the world's strongest man. Do the people claiming it does refer to Magnus ver Magnusson as the world's strongest man? Do they still call Obama President Obama (an example from another comment)? No... Ex WSM just sounds weird and I can see why some people don't like it. 2x or former WSM is better terminology.

    Tom's deadlift hasn't been a weakness at all, what are you even saying. He literally won the tire pull at Shaw's. He has been placing in the top 5 on deadlift events the past 3 or 4 years. Just because he isn't one of the 4 or 5 best deadlifters in Strongman doesn't make it a weakness, Strongman is about consistency through the events, not neccessarily event wins.
    Either look into the sport a little bit or just put up the vids without the hapless commentary.
    Mateusz is the guy with a deadlift weakness, if you want a point of reference.
