  • The picture or drawing on the face of this video was drawn while I was doing my Tedx talk in 2018 on Bree and the gift she was for me.
    Vegan Carrot Cake
1 1/2 cups plant milk (either almond, rice, oat or cashew)
4 1/2 ounces pitted whole dates, chopped
3/4 cup raisins (Thompson's organic are nice)
    1 Banana, sliced
    1 teaspoon vanilla
1 3/4 cups rolled Oats (gluten free)
    2 teaspoons baking powder
    2 teaspoons cinnamon
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1 teaspoon nutmeg
    Pinch of cloves
1 1/2 cups carrots, finely shredded
    1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
Combine plant milk, dates, 1/4 cup raisins, banana and vanilla in a medium bowl and let sook for 14 minutes.
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Line an 8 inch square baking pan with parchment paper
Place rolled oats in a blender and blend to power.
Transfer to a large bowl and add the baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda, nutmeg and cloves.
Now put the date mixture in the blender and blend well. Add the liquid date mixture to the dry Oat mixture. Stir to combine.
Add remaining 1/2 cup of raisins, carrots and walnuts.
Spread batter into prepared baking pan. Put into the preheated oven.
Bake for 1 hour. Remove and let cool.
    Maple Syrup and Tahini Icing
This is so simple and I use it often as it is quick, delicious and easy.
    1/4 cup maple syrup
    1/4 cup Tahini
Combine together in a small saucepan and heat. Stirring constantly until is thickens. Spread on top of cooled Vegan/Gluten Free Carrot Cake.
Note: if you want more icing just increase equal amounts of the maple syrup and Tahini.
also the walnuts are optional, if someone has an nut sensitivity.
    Enjoy!

Your story is remarkable. I think it’s important you share it and I think it’s very brave of you just because of how painful this has been. God bless you.

There are few things as pure and strong as the love for a parent for their child.

Very moving story. Nothing like a mothers love, you must miss her so much. It's so sad and wrong that back then the doctors where always talking about institunalisation when a baby was born bit different, a baby needs his/her mother, no matter what disability. Sad too that many didn't accept her just because she was not the "perfect" baby.

A mother's Live is like NO other! My own mother has always been my idol & my safe place. When I became a mother myself, everything my mother had said and done in my life made sense. The first video I saw was of you "Creeping Bree" and explaining her diet and what u do in a day, I could see the love for bree in your eyes & hear it proudly in your voice. Bree was beautiful beautiful, she was special and she mattered!!! I recently became a grandmother & to see all my hard work of choosing to be a stay at home mom is starting to show. You did wonderful things for Bree and gave her the best life you could! 💗 Much love!.

God is definitely going to bless you! You were an excellent mother to Bree and your story about caring for her is a story that many should hear!
Your love for her is beautiful (especially when you would get emotional as you read, I could feel it) and I’m sure Bree loved you back just as much! Take care and great video!

Oh how I selfishly awaited your book not even considering the pain it would cause you Wendy. I can feel the lump in your throat and heaviness on your chest thinking back to the day my Collin was born, 10 days overdue and told not to push until the doctor showed up, he was running late because he had to stop and get a battery for his pager. Seeing my 8 pound 10 ounce son for the first time and wondering why he was a bluish purple color and why won’t he stop crying, I was 18. Thanks so much for sharing your book and reliving your heartache, I pray God continues to give you strength and look so forward to your next video ❤️🙏💪🏼 ...Hugging you tight! I’m Tonya a mother of a hurt child.

Wendy, I, too, am a mother of a hurt child. And everyone wanted to know what was wrong with him. And of course they were asking me because, after all, it was my body this imperfect little being was born from so obviously it was something that came from me and it was all my fault. There was nothing initially. It started after he was not meeting any milestones. In 1986, autism was not on every magazine cover you see. And neither my husband nor I were early childhood anythings and so now I was ignorant and it was all my fault.
Anyway, I am so glad you wrote this and it helps me to understand your story so much better and I am so glad about that!! I look forward to listening more about your journey and will write again later.

You are such a wonderful mother, she was blessed to have you! But why didn't you go to the hospital where she was at after you was discharged?

I wanna know what the issue with the IUD was. Are they not effective? Wendy really should have seen a doctor if it was painful and tried a different form of birth control if she chose to. Not alluding saying she shouldn’t have had Bree at all. Please don’t take my comment the wrong way.
