The expansion for "China Town" has been in my head for years, which made the compositional part quite easy. It was the balancing and perfecting processes that took up a large bulk of the time. I wanted it to feel both electronically dreamy, and traditionally Asian-inspired, with several instruments committed to that goal. You, listener, will decide if I succeeded or not. This is, to date, my most ambitious expansion, and a deeply personal one for me. It's also the one many of you were waiting for with such anticipation, which is why I went an extra few miles to make sure it sounded its best.

Love the expansion section! Has to be your best yet.
@@Iceferno - Dude you know your praise is always highly appreciated. Thanks a bunch. I'm hitting your past few releases tomorrow too. Been too sidetracked to keep up with things!
👍
@@MaestroDraven No problem. :) Also, side-thought, China Town has quite similar chord progression to My Lover. Something I just noticed while listening.
@@Iceferno - Hah! Good ear :)
Two masters just chatting at the comments section. 😂
Maestro, this is just awesome! I like how "China Town" seems to hit a chord with many people, it's a great composition. And as this remix shows, it can go even higher.
Honestly the best track in the game for me
I second that!
I third it. It’s by far the most memorable track from the game. And it’s a game filled with memorable tracks.
I find myself humming it at work all the time. It’s a relatively simple composition but it’s my idea of the perfect Genesis track. It really plays to the strengths of the Yamaha FM synthesizer.
The bass line carries a ton of the musical weight in addition to normal timing duties. Which is the right way to compose a Genesis song since the Yamaha synth was at its best with bass tones.
So good that they only played it once throughout the whole game, unlike most of the other tracks
La mejor sin duda quien quiere jugar ? Mojo la oreja 👂 a cual quiera
I agree.
Arguably the greatest video game theme of all time! Well done
Phenomenal
TROS soundtrack is the first video game OST that proved video game music that could be more than just simple repeating melodies but could be ambitious in spite of the limited hardware. It’s a technical achievement and It’s a testament Yuzo Koshiro’s talent.
A track I love to have playing in my car late at night while driving down the streets of London.
Viva a Shinobi ❤ viva a china town❤❤❤❤❤🇨🇳🇨🇳
My fav track from the game, amazing rendition! Thank you for the hard work and time you put in to produce this for us! ;-)
It's my pleasure Michael, and thank you.
Love it 🔥🔥🔥🔥 music to my ears
This was my brother's favorite stage. 😢 I miss you brother and I wish you where here.🐉🐲
is perferct my friend, perfect
When I was at elementary school... I always remember this memorable music before fights versus Spiderman & Batman 😂

In 1997 I was 15 years old and I was playing this game on my Mega Drive and I was in that Chinatown stage when I received the news that my grandmother had passed away. The music from the Chinatown stage has stuck in my memory because of that. Now, look at life's coincidences, 4 weeks ago, when MaestroDraven released this version, I heard it for the first time and hours later, the news came that my father had passed away. Once again this song accompanies me in my moments of greatest sadness.
Even so, congratulations MaestroDraven for the excellent arrangement made in this song.
Very very good man.
Always thought this soundtrack sounded like the end credit theme for an 80s ninja-noir movie we never got, now it goes even deeper into such territory, it feels like the trailer, intro and end credit soundtrack too.
This is one of the tracks for which I actually bought and played the game in 2006, I believe this was by far the most difficult and logical games I ever experienced till today. Gekidou, Super Mario etc were all crap in front of this 8-bit wonder. I always thought that the designers and logics was magical, and this particular OST is just groundbreaking, even in Naruto I haven't heard such an emotional track.
Hinata's OST is most syncd with this dont you guys feel it too? The reason why I actually watched naruto was because of this game and the hint of this music in Hinata's ost. A particular japanese touch, hint of excellence, culture and a thought that guides a guy to take on the world with technique being a single man force against the world, a purpose driving a warrior to eradicate the enemy, even if it is a clan. Reminds me of Genghis khan, a man building an empire alone.
Great job, sir! 👓👏
You my friend have completed life. Thanks for this wonderful masterpiece.
It reminded me of my childhood obsession with this music, so I decided to use the
so many emotions.
I'm going to listen to it a lot, thank you so much.
The quality is so good, I'm really, really impressed.
The Classic of Classics of videogame soundtracks.
This rendition really hits u on different level…
This really is a Masterpiece! Wow.. *Expanded & Enhanced*
Thanks burger, I appreciate it!
You nailed the expansion. Thank you so much for not only keeping our childhood alive but add spice to it! It feels like revisiting an old place and discover a treasure.
Thanks very much for the support! I really loved doing this song.
Truly eye-moistening, thank you
This is magik. Thnx!!!
Oh my G , dude you are on another level , how the hell you creat such a mindblowing theme ?
I've wanted to expand this song for so many decades!
I was looking forward to this! Good job! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Best video game theme ever
Good job, this brings back great memories. Makes me want to jump from cloud to cloud. 🦊
It was perfect!
Homey went heavy in the bag with this one
I've been waiting for you to drop this mix and by god you haven't disappointed! China Town is by far my favourite track from Shinobi hands down.
If they ever decide to remaster or remake this game, I hope they get you on board for the soundtrack.
10/10 my friend, amazing job ^_^
Thanks so much! I'd be all for it. Wouldn't it be cool to get an updated ROS with a few new stages thrown in for good measure?
Since I was a kid I always loved this track from the game. Still today when I get to this stage I am hyped just for it. One of my gaming references for traditional Asian kind of songs. This also brings me feels of story telling and the sorrowness and struggles Shinobi is going through.
Same here. When I was a kid, I couldn't beat the second stage. The first time I reached Chinatown, I spent some minutes just listening to the music. Haha
It's been 8 months and this is still my fav beat you've come out with. Keep up the good work my man!
Bring an Oscar to Mr. draven! Clap! Clap! Clap!
Even though I haven't played "THE REVENGE OF SHINOBI" and haven't even heard the original music, but your "Expanded & Enhanced" version got me completely!
When your Expansion started, it was like I heard a nice story at the Kabuki Theater. You got into the rhythm so much that it takes your breath away!
I never thought that Traditional Japanese Music would sound so cool in 16-bit!
Perfection
The music for this game is still very good. Just like the original Shinobi was. Quality work!
Your channel covers my favorites game music ever. this is awesome
Nothing beat this
i was waiting for this expanded version. One of best track in Shinobi Series.
very nice
What I usually do now is play your playlists whilst playing SoR4 on survival mode, much better experience
Arriving in New York, Joe begins his final approach for NEO ZEED's headquarters. He discovers Chinatown is a central hub for NEO ZEED. Perhaps he'll find a way to their headquarters...
*ROUND 6 START*
It became a masterpiece
How the hell have you done the background? The music is insane, but holy visuals!
I cant believe how awesome this is! The views to comments ratio must tell you how many people liked this enough to comment. Ill be playing these in the background to study. Please keep up the good work, I want to hear more classics!
Well, this is THE definitive expansion and remix of China Town.
Maestro! Another great work
FIST TIME LISTENING TO THIS SONG!! Wow how impressive!!!!
Excellent as always. Patiently awaiting my favourite "Over the Bay"!
Awaiting here too
best ost revenge of shinobi
I am in love with your extended and improved versions of this classic ost.
another fav of mine is Desert Strike, id love to hear what you could do with that gem.
Yuzo Koshiro, once again, did a great job!
I would like Shinobi Remake. And hear this music like this. I call that modern retro. And a real Shinobi Movie and Anime. That clip at the beginning with the cool music where his master dies. It can become the opening Theme.
Amazing bro! This is my favorite Revenge of shinobi ost and your expansion complements the music a lot.
Excellent work. Sounds great.
Probably your masterpiece track of the game... Great job for making me dropping a tear ^^'
WHAT SHARPNESS! WHAT CLEAN SOUND IS THAT? ULTRA MEGA MODERN VERSION.
I heard so many versions of this song and this one somehow stuck with me. Congratulations and may you continue with this great work. Looking forward to Shinobi 3's music, imagine the quality of Solitary, Shadow Master and Japonesque. Anxious.
Note: Sorry if there is a weird translation into English.
Man, this game is my childhood, nostalgia, I could finish it easely after I learned some tricks, thank you
You always brings us excellent covers remixes. China Town is one of my favorites tunes of this great theme. Thanks 4 uploading it!
Bloody hell this is large. Excellent work as always, *Maestro*
Incrível man
I can't believe! You're so so so talented! This is truly a masterpiece!
BR ? um prazer encontra-lo aqui amigo. 🍷
The wait has been worth it. This exceeds my expectations. Wonderful music. My sincere gratitude to Maestro Draven for his talent.
Think I'm starting to have more nostalgic feelings from listening to his and Iceferno's remixes than of playing the games as a kid!
Sterling sounds, also more than once has been a ringtone or motivating alarm 😊
Yuzo Koshiro has on his channel an alternate version of China Town from his OSTs, which uses the drums and bass that's more aligned with the X68K computer's Yamaha sound chip as he intended than the Genesis' other Yamaha sound chip.
At last we got this one expanded & enhanced, thank you Maestro!
Magnifique
Insane !
That was a masterpiece! I don't know what I was expecting but this was better! You captured a feeling that is both moving and somber. Excited to see what you think of next! You nailed this one. I know it was your baby haha
PS I'm curious to see what you do with the Labyrinth level, the music for that one was always tense, but repetitive and boring, much like the level itself. Don't be afraid to step out of bounds on that one! Love your work and excited to follow you through future projects!
Thanks Rudolph. As for the Labyrinth level.......be prepared. 😉
It's amazing, man it's amazing !! no word to describe this work ! the expansion , my god what can i say !! at 04.23 feels like landing after a rainy flight .. awesome 👏 👍
I have no idea if there is any other plan in your head , But I look forward to seeing your creativity in ( The Super Shinobi II ) soundtrack name: Solitary
Best of luck & keep it up boss 👍
Be blessed.
This is quite an extension and so far my secon favourite of this project, only losing to Sunrise BLVD. I look forward to over the bay.
gorgeous!
congrats, this is definitely my favourite one
your amazing work. This song is simply wonderful and extremely remarkable. For me it's the game's music. The first stage also has a great music but yeah, it's the music.
BR caraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaioooo ai simmm man show de bola !!!!!!!! essa edit ficou phoda !!!!!!!
Your job is incredible. If some day some that games be remastered release of franchise Revenge of Shinobi and Streets of Rage, you deserve that your tracks be includes
Excellent OST ♥
Thank you maestro
This is so 🔥🔥🔥 thank you 😎👍.
Yessssss👏👏👏
i feel like gettting some chinese
Holy f****n' s**t. I've been waiting for this enhanced and extended track for years and it's perfectly epic. Awesome job. Thank u so much!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I've been waiting for this one ever since you started the Revenge of Shinobi soundtrack and it didn't disappoint one second. A rad expansion.
perfect.
I initially came across your channel yesterday after listening to your rendition of The Last Soul from Streets of Rage 1. I really hope you complete this OST like you did those games as your remixes are amazing! Yuzo Koshiro's music has always been amazing, but thanks to you, they now feel like complete songs.
Thanks a lot, Deth. I'm always trying to pay homage to Koshiro's work as best I can. The worst thing I could do is insult it.
Chinatown is one of my favorite tracks in this game, so to hear you finally take this on was a dream come true
To say this expansion was ambitious is an understatement! I love how you started off with your standard enhancement technique, which was ASTOUNDING! It got me dancing to the song even more than i usually do - it felt so natural~
The section at 3:00 really leaned into the traditional Chinese aesthetic of the song, and I absolutely loved it! I dont know what these instruments are called, but I just love the instrumentation here
4:23 Now this was very unconventional - stopping the song and then slowly fading into a new section - that was incredibly well-executed. It almost feels like a different song, but still close enough to be clearly tied to Chinatown, almost like a movement in a symphony; when the original motif returns at 5:23 it feels like a natural switch that makes you realize... "Oh, this IS Chinatown... and it fits so, so well!" This really spoke volumes about your skill as a musician
6:28 Traditional Chinese vibes are returning, yes!
When we finally returned to the original track, it was so fulfilling! It felt like we had completed a journey, and the re-entry point was incredibly smooth, and you just knew that it belonged. Everything was in just the right place for this track
I'm not sure if you'd consider this your magnum opus, but I'd at least say that if you wanted to do this song justice, you've passed with flying colors
Hey Dr Volk, thanks! The instruments are a Nagoya Harp, Shakuhachi and a Laotian Zither. I had this idea for the original opening theme of ROS and wanted to carry it over to China Town as well to create a sense of authenticity. At the same time, I didn't want to go too overboard with it. And since it was designed to be a much longer song than others, I added the bridge section in to peak/valley it for some added atmosphere.
my personal favorite from this game
This is a truly exceptional rendition! I've been listening to it a few times in the office today!
Thanks very much, I really appreciate it! I worked hard on this one.
Everyday at work, I start it off with this track. It's just so gawd damn amazing. Thank you, sir!
Incredible. I generally always preferred Shinobi 3, but this is making me wanna give Revenge a play
Awesome hardworking! It is one of my most preferred game tracks, it even made me want to travel to China when I was a child hahah
Glad you enjoyed it!
和古代佑三同等級的濃醇中國風樂曲😆😆😆
“唐人街”的變奏版不輸給“Yozo Koshiro"----古代佑三老師😁😁😁😄😄😄😄
Sensational! Can I use your music in videos on my channel?
Best track in Video game history
Minha favorita ❤
Aqui sin a nostalgia sobr mais wue nuvens
Hey Maestro, I just subscribed not to long ago but I wanted to let you know that those Streets of Rage remixes are absolute masterpieces!
I wanted to know if you ever considered remixing the Rolling Thunder game trilogy soundtracks, they are absolute bangers and I know you would kill it!
Hi Omar, I haven't thought about RT, no, but I'll consider it. I've got a lot of projects I want to move onto that are already in the queue. And thanks for the kind words.
first ! Great remix :D
Thanks to mash-ups I can't unhear Beat It
