this was a nice deck i had a later HX-1 but we changed it all with the parts from a more modern stopped GX-9 not that far from the HX-1 release which the keys were very nice and still work perfect today, Akai was a real good brand in tape recorders, as my 1970 crossfield X-165D is still working perfect, a open reel deck with the cover which is rare to see today
I got this deck in early 1980's. I really liked the LED meters but two color woulda been better. Minor carping as this deck offered both Dolby B and C. I also liked the full logic controls. I had it a few years before trading up to a more elaborate deck.
