There were so many different makers a lot closed or got bought out.I had a mini moto to get repaired.A fully race ready but the engine was toast. But could not find any parts.Hope you get it going. Those engines are quite easy to find. All the best to you all.
That Diesel Chevette might be ok, but I think they only had like 50-60HP if that even LOL. Not going to win any races, but you'll pass a few gas stations between fillups...at least I'd hope so given diesel is $6/gal. in my area at least. One of those little mini bikes would be cool for running around town on, at least where I live, once you are in the "city" limits the speed limit on most streets is 25mph or below, and although very slow, many people seem to have a problem even driving that slow of a speed LOL, they putz around everywhere here, may as well just drive a golf cart around town as slow as these people drive...so a mini bike, or in my case an E-Bike works extremely well...thinking of selling it though and buying one of the Lectric folding E-Bikes so I can put it in the trunk of my car if need be. That mini bike is definitely a good project for John. That'll give John a bit of growing room on that bike. Its a little bigger than a Pit Bike, but smaller than a dirt bike I think but not by much. 49CC geared properly will move out pretty well, but for John right now till he gets used to it, slow is good enough LOL.
I have worked on one of those and the engine is just so so, not usualy enough power to start off on anything other than flat ground. You might be better off tossing in a honda clone of some type with a jackshaft if you need to. Or you could port the two stroke and build a pipe for it, that might make it have some more get up and go. Build a simple Iron Horse pipe for it with some mild porting and you might have somthing fun. A simple degree wheel and some dremel bits and off you go. My chainsaw porting video might give you some insight into that.
I found the same thing. Got a good deal on a Baja 200 and got a mini chopper with it, the bike in the video is an APC chopper. Mine is a no name bought from like pep boys. Can find a brand new motor for it, but nothing else. Mine has disc brakes, which I cannot find anywhere.
Hands down oh yeah on the Chevette! Y'all going to have fun with the mini bike!! John looks excited to jump on getting this build rolling. Really simple builds there, straight forward design! Ironically enough, there's one for sale one town over from me same color and all for twenty five dollars as well. However, it's missing so much.. motor, wheels ect..ect.. it's a pass for me. Looking forward to this build and as always, blessings and respect my man! Salute!
Engine swap to a predator or one of those duromax engines . By far easier to do and more reliable than those 2 stroke engines on those . Not to mention those are geared for on road so John would have troubles off roading that set up
You could try contacting HarveySpooner here on YT, he’s up in New York State. Knowing him he probably has a few of these sitting in his backyard or basement. Also he normally does respond to comments any questions.
"Legal" is only a concern if you're intending to use it for street transportation, otherwise you can get generic GY6 and/or scooter parts for cheap and go nuts with the thing. There were an absolute ton of companies that put these out between the 70s to late 80s, so tracking down replacement parts could be tough at best, though not particularly thrifty as vintage stuff goes. That one looks a little newer, but hard to say. Getting a number off the engine will help narrow the timeframe down.
Haha I know that yard, it's a gold mine. The battery cover on those was usually a fake Harley engine, looks like if you mod the frame a bit you could put a 212 on it.
Hey I just picked up the same bike same style everything pretty sure it's still a apc they made single and dual wheels look at my channel you'll see the video of it
@@redneckcomputergeek ok well idk if you find out what yours is lmk I'm eventually going to strip mine should find some kind of code or writing I think there same manafactor just little diff I can't find any with the sissy bars and front style bars like ours has idk

Looks like a awesome project. I would love that place All kinds of good stuff

APC used to sell those at PEP boys!
Nice rebuild video.
Yep that chevette is pretty neat! That's a really cool mini bike! That's gonna be a blast!

Lack of horsepower is easily overcome with deeper gearing

Great video! Awesome chopper project! Wicked Great father/son project! :)
That's very cool!

This looks like one of the minichoppers that Pep Boys were selling about 20 years ago...I had a blue one...
Didn’t realize you were also from Maine! Cool! I have some things you may be interested in
my parents had a chevette too in brown in color.. the mini bike for john is perfect for him..
Try to try try to get in touch with red beer garage or cars and camera they are pretty good about finding parts or have extra parts for those things
@RedneckComputerGeek the bike looks to be a variant of an APC mini chopper.
Those 3 white sinks... In the beginning of the video... Those go for good money...
Fun lil bike, I put a predator 212 on mine and hit 45😂😂
I almost bought a diesel Chevette when I was in high school. But my lack of mechanical knowledge scared me off. I regret that now.
Blata is probably best engine and it's watercooled

Predator 212 with torque converter would make a good set up for that bike.
That would be cool, but it would make it illegal to ride on the street.
@@alternator7893 You do raise a good point, after all we live in the ''land of the free'' NOT...

My first car was a diesel chevette.
They are called Hardley Davidson my buddy has one
I got one two planning on putting a big engine on it did you ever get the electric starter work
You should get that chivett
Haha I know that yard, it's a gold mine. The battery cover on those was usually a fake Harley engine, looks like if you mod the frame a bit you could put a 212 on it.
79cc predator swap candidate? I did that to a Monster Moto and it was a missile. You'd lose the charging sys. though.
Build a chopper!!!
My advice for the brakes is spray wd40 on them and keep squeezing then
Oh Nuce I still can’t find a frame anywgere
It’s a APC mini chopper. I got one myself.
What’s the fuel mixing for that bike?
Try go motor sports out of texas.
Apc mini chopper
Apc mini choper
It's a apc mini motorcycle
Lol hopefully he likes it
Apc chopper
its a apc mini chopper they sold them at pep boys
I also have a 212 cc Moter if ya want it 40 bucks
Hey I just picked up the same bike same style everything pretty sure it's still a apc they made single and dual wheels look at my channel you'll see the video of it
Not same bike. This bike the engine and rear tire are on the same pivot. Yours is an APC the pivot point is behind the engine.

I’m sending you a message for parts. I don’t know the name, but I have something with a similar engine
APC mini chopper
