NF is special. It is nice to see your genuine appreciation of his artistry. I think the cage represents two things. The first is the industry putting him in a box like you mentioned and making him feel like an outcast. The second is a continuation of the mansion representing his mind except now it's this cage. He has the keys so he is in control of allowing the fans in by sharing his thoughts/feelings in his lyrics or closing himself off. Keep pausing and being true to who you are. As you said, it's your channel. ❤❤

Bizzle man... Bizzle and the whole entire G.O.M. Squad is criminally underrated to me 🤷‍♂️... excellent reaction as alway
God bless His Elect and His Chosen!!
Edit: I believe a LOT of the Em comparisons come from the dialect... they are both from Michigan... they "sound" similar... to me... but not all the time... it's the enunciation of his words, his vocab, and his accent... and I'm from Kentucky... I know all bout them accents hahahahaha

You’re right with the metaphor of the cage. It seems to represent his mind so he put himself in it but it also can mean the box that the industry put him in as a Christian rapper. So he’s an outcast to the industry and he has outcasted himself with his mental struggles. And only his fans can enter his mind for a brief moments when they listen to his songs.

There's also the metaphor element that the cage represents a safe place for him. He talks about not wanting to be out in crowds and not wanting fame so the cage is where he goes to protect himself from the outside, which is why he says that he has the keys the whole time. It also shows that he's selective with who he lets inside of his safety boundaries. The metaphor of that cage carries over to the search when he's pushing the cart. The shopping cart is just a mobile version of his safety cage.

The cell doesn't just hold one metaphor. In "How Could You Leave Us" Nate says "They say pain is a prison. Let me out of my cell." Here in "Outcast" he starts with "Woke up in a cell. Where am I at?" Nate isn't confused about where he is. He is asking his fans (The Outcasts) where he is at? Nate's true fans will know that he is really saying "Woke up in pain". To reinforce this he says "Sing along to the pain. They love it." Nate is trapped by his Pain, Trust Issues, Anger, Fear, Depression, and Anxiety. Nate is also searching for the "7 Letters" which is "Freedom". In order to find Freedom, he needs a Map. The Map will first lead him to Hope. Hope will lead him to Joy. Joy will lead him to Happiness. Happiness will ultimately lead him to Freedom. He "Holds the keys" to Hope, Joy, Happiness, and Freedom. Yet he is scared to open himself up to allow them in. Because, he has only known, Pain, Anger, Fear, Depression, and Anxiety. Cheer!

One time in an interview, NF said he is a christian, but he's not a christian rapper. Then he asked the reporter that if a plumber came to their house who happened to be a christian, does that make him a christian plumber?

    • @mfc420
      @mfc420 8 місяців тому

yeah if people are gonna call nf a christian rapper you might as well call hopsin or dax a christian rapper too. just cause they have songs talking about god doesnt mean theyre christian rappers. i guess the only difference between those three is nf is openly christian. doesnt mean hes a christian rapper

  • @McTerrox

My interpretation of the mathaphor is that, the cage is his own problems inside his mind.
And the fact he cages himself into certain thought processes.
And the fans gathering around, is the fact they can relate to him, so they gather around him since they finally found someone who brings them all together by putting himself out there.
And then if the fans come in, it means nf is willing to open up about his issues, so he connects with people and he goes on stage so he leaves his physical safe space while still feeling caged inside his own mind

I've always thought that the reaction was intended for the person making the video to experience the 🎶. I'm grateful that they feel vulnerable enough to allow me to participate in their very personal experience. Music from artists like #NF is meant to be experienced & internalized so that we can become the best humans that we can be individually. People need to allow this process to happen naturally & not be so critical about irrelevant stuff like pausing or commentary. We all have a choice to watch or not... it's that simple.

You should have your opinion of the song before listening to other people's reaction otherwise your thoughts are corruptible. Keep it up love your channel.
P.S. your right about the box but I think he's showing the keys to say he could leave anytime he wants but he won't because he likes it there.

🔥🔥Always here for a Black P reaction. You might be an Outcast... If you raise your first with NF at the end of the search, you might be an Outcast.. If you cry with NF during How Could You Leave Us. If you got chills watching Hope when he fell into the Mansion. If your workout mix has Options, One Hundred, No Excuses, and Destiny on it. If you knew who the slurpy kid was at the end of the Motto video. If you smiled when he said they gon' have a list of issues long as my shirts in Returns. 🖤🤍

Nah, he sounds nothing like Eminem. He spits in a similar fashion to some of Em I suppose (but not really), but tonally he sounds nothing like him.
As far as inspired by Em - 100% of course he was (I would assume). But to suggest he's an Em clone - like Em literally did - is ridiculous. Given how varied Em's work is, and how omnipresent he is, you could point that finger at almost anyone who came after him.

  • @butterflymama0838

I wish you would've started at the very beginning of the journey. It is easier to follow and connect the songs. You're bouncing all over the place. His music is a storyline so (most) of his songs are connected in one way or another . Oh well, at least you're reacting to him, which he deserves. 😁👍🏻
I'm a huge fan of his. I have heard every single song that he has ever put out all the way back to his first album, "I'm Free" which came out in 2012. That is over 100 songs. He is from Michigan just like Em, so yes, he was the biggest influence in Nate's musical direction at the beginning of his career. If you go back and listen to anything off of his first 2 albums (I'm Free & Moments) you'll really hear the similarities. He started really developing his own sound though by the time that he put out the Mansion album . He is a very special artist.

The biggest issue with him listed as a “Christian rapper” is that he gets that title because his original signing was with a Christian division of capitol records.
He’s made a comment in an interview one time when they asked if he was a “Christian Rapper”? His response was “If you hire a plumber and the plumber is Christian, does that make him a Christian plumber?”

I think the cage is the safe room from Mansion. He is starting to let people inside and he starting to venture out. In the Search we see this cage in the background as he ventures out in new territory with his portable safe room the shopping cart. I agree the box is also representative of how he is not going to conform to the industry or world standards. The real NF fans don't mind you pausing at all. Pause all you want. We want to hear your thoughts.

For me the cage has always been his mind that he is locked in but has the keys to escapeif he wants too. In later videos you might see a shopping cart he pushes around which is just mini visual representation of the cage from outcast that he is always carrying with him. In the search you see the cage in the background and then see the shopping cart he is carrying.

His fans also put him in a cage too in a sense. His fame came from tackling the hard, dark subjects while he was going through therapy, and his fans may think he sold out if his mental state improves and he starts singing about more upbeat topics. There is one song where he says 'No one knows me well' and it's a double entendre stressing the 'well'. If he heals and improves his mental state, will he stop being popular?

Do you know why I wrote that last part? -Because I KNEW someon like you would jump at the opportunity to make it about race. -and despite that you found a way to make it about race anyway. :D Loose-loose for me, right? In your eyes, could comparing two ppl of same color, ever be about anything else but their colour?
Would you consider yourself to be racist, considering you focus so much on colour and is so busy accusing ppl of racism?
-Maybe it is you who are incapable of seeing humans for who they are...?
I don't know you. thats why I am asking.
Fun fact. I grew up in rural central africa as the son of parents doing foreign aid. I spend years wering no shoes, playing with local kids who wore the same red cross clothes as myself. We didn't live in a gated community and we weren't rich. My parents spend everything we had aiding the community we lived in...
according to you I would guess you would prolly accuse them of having white saviour syndrome and being bad white ppl... But what did you ever do to fight against the inequality of the world besides calling other racist for no real reasons?
last question: Do you think they sound similar in voice and delivery? -Just to stay on topic...
